  1. Yeah, I miss that thing. It's not a dead project. I've actually remodelled the cockpit completely over the last year. Just a small change from my other stuff. I go back to it maybe one day a week. I'm happy with how the cockpit looks now. When we finish the stuff we're doing, we'll look into programming it. That'll take a while.

  4. Very simple avionics. 2 Nav Radios, 2 comm radios, 2 ADF's and a Transponder. All on the overhead panel. I've had to change the overhead radio panel from the earlier render I posted because the windows for the frequencies were too small to read. So I found another radio panel from the period that is much easier to read. On the main panel, an RMI for the Left side that tunes to ADF 1 and NAV 1 and the right side will tune to Nav 2 and ADF 2. Marker Beacon indicator lights. Sperry Autopilot that has a heading hold function and a pitch hold function. No ILS. ILS is for whimps!
  5. Short answer is no. To make it work the way it's supposed to work, with modulated signals, will take a bit of work. We might put in some simple distance measuring equipment. That would take about an hour to customize it and add it, but we'll see how it pans out.
  6. Not much more to show yet. Lots of work going on lately to make things work. When I get a finalized cabin and exterior, I'll put up a few screenshots of that. I'll see if I can get a few screenshots of the overhead and center console in the next day or 2.
  7. I'm not really sure what you are trying to correct. I never said the feathering or the prop governor was dependent on the electric current. I said you need an electric current to cause spark plug ignition. The windmilling will start the engine if the mixture is set to rich, there is an electric current going to the spark plugs and the prop levers are pushed fully forward. Without an electric current, the spark plugs won't fire and the engine won't start.
  8. If you're talking about "fully feathered to 90°", then yes, it is possible. It's possible to feather props to any amount. The Beech Duchess prop feathering limit is 80° to 82°. I set it to feather at 81°. Taken from the Beech Duchess TCDS: "Pitch setting at 30 in. station: low 12.1° +- 0.01°, high 17° to 20°, feather 80° to 82°" Pulling the prop levers on the throttle console all the way back will set the props to a feathering position of (what I set it as) 81°. Because of this, there will occasionally be some amount of windmilling.

If you'll notice, when I mentioned the electric current, I was talking about an electric current going from the battery to the magnetos, which in turn sends a current to the spark plugs, which in turn is able to ignite the fuel in the combustion chamber. Without an electric current, the engine won't start. The magnetos send a spark (dependent on the piston position) at the correct timing and location of the piston inside the combustion chamber of the engine. "it is able to do a windmilling start as long as there is electrical current going to the magneto's and the mixture is set to rich"

  12. Work is progressing nicely and quickly now. Lukasz has wrapped up the systems code and the flight model. Theo is getting close to finishing the textures, but there is still the night lighting to do. What I have so far animated on the panel and gauges is working very nicely. We're pushing for a late December finish, but it depends on any problems we may find. We're also trying to get the floats version finished at the same time as the wheel version. In the meantime, a couple of screenshots in XP9.
  13. We're not ruling it out, but we're not saying definitely "yes, we'll do a modernized panel". To make a more modernized panel means modelling a new panel from scratch, including overhead, and then re-texturing it, re-animating it, and making new panel regions and manipulators.. Because of the amount of work involved (about 6 weeks worth of full time work), it won't be a free upgrade. However, I don't want to start anything by saying we're thinking of doing it. It's 50/50. We've got quite a few things going on at the moment and a modernized version of the DC-3 panel is somewhere in the middle of our job list...if we decide to go ahead with it. We just want to get this DC-3 done (Floats and Wheels version), wrapped and packaged so we can move onto our next project. If we do a modernized panel, it'll be a side project.

  23. The shadowing, I'm not 100% sure what all the settings represent. I did have a play around with it today and when it was on "overlay" the aircraft had no shadows cast on it. When i had it on 3D aircraft, the different parts of the aircraft were casting shadows on the aircraft itself. As for the rest of the shadow settings, I'm only guessing that they increase quality. ("Melt the GPU" wasn't particularly appealing for me to try). Good luck with it. Let us know how it goes. EDIT: FYI, shaders are the biggest FPS killer. Use them carefully.
  24. Get your updated drivers first. Next, your AA is WAY too high. Turn it down to 2x or 4x Turn off HDR Shadowing can go to 3D aircraft, but you will get better performance leaving it as low as possible. (This allows the aircraft to cast shadows on itself.) Turn your water reflection down to default. Turn off volumetric fog and atmospheric scattering. Turn your clouds down to about 30% THIS should give you good framerates for your system. Then you can start turning things back on until you are happy with the performance.
