Correct Taking Off procedure
frankbyte replied to frankbyte's topic in Flight Procedures and Techniques
Hi Jan OK, thanks for your feedback. Cheers Franz -
Yesss! It worked! Great. I'm sorry for this thread, now everything seems clear and works. Thanks for your help!

Hi Jan Let's say i've read about 80% of all manuals and tutorials. I overflew the places i already knew but some important informations were hidden there because i read it again more carefully. So you're right I will just try that again now...hope it will work.

Correct Taking Off procedure
frankbyte replied to frankbyte's topic in Flight Procedures and Techniques
Thanks. You're right, i guess that i pushed the A/T button instead of the TOGA button. I will try it again. About the missing n1-value: i am almost 100% sure that in a previous version, the max n1-value was visible (and that we did not have to adapt it by ourselves by pressing that button. We also can see that value in a lot of preintscreens of the manual, but i could be wrong of course ) -
Hi guys I tested the going-around procedures as i read in the manuals, but not sure about if it were correct. SInce i made a LNAV/VNAV approach the SPD-indicator wasn't showing an actual speed since the speed was managed by the FMS. So i could first NOT press the SPD-button as Jan suggested in a thread and had to disconnect the A/T. Then i pressed the TOGA-button on the throttles (not the one one the side taht should be for taking off). But as i pressed it the engines didnt went to GA-power and i had to manually push the throttles full forward. Not sure what i have done wrong here? Or was i only supposed to push the TOGA-button as the "A/T" were active? And another question i have is if there would be possible to assign the TOGA-button to the joystick since it is very challenging having to look down to the throttles and searching for the right button when flying in heavy gust winds 200ft over the ground and having to engage a Go-Around It would be really amazing if we could engage the GA from the joystick. I tried to assign the default "ENGAGE TOGA power" to the joystick but nothing happened. So i guess it would need a special-command we have to search through the file structure folders under IXEG. Thanks a lot and cheers Franz

Hi guys It looks like i a beginner question....but i am still not sure about the correct procedure for taking off. And yes i did read the manuals 1. The first strange thing is that since the last update, there is no more N1-limits showing up above the circles that shows the actual values. I can only see the actual N1-value and not the one it should be. Those values i refer to only appear if i pull the "pull to set N1" button. But i have to set them manually then. If i remember right the max. n1-values for every starge (TO/CLB/CRZ etc.) were automatically showed in previous versions... 2. During taking off, as soon as i push the TOGA-button on the throttle (on the side of the throttles) i get a A/T disconnect. And if i push the N1-button (what is much more easy) it doens't seem to have the same effect (shouldn't both do the same?): the thrust then goes forward and i adjust manually the throttle so that it matches with the ghost-throttles. Is that the right procedure? Once again: this plane is absoluetely amazing! I really enjoy it Thanks and cheers Franz

Hi I am not sure if this already has been reported (i didn't see any report about that so far): I'm having difficulties during a VNAV descent. When leaving the cruising altitude (T/D) the plane first follows the VNAV path and descent. But at some waypoints it has difficulties to reach/maintain the altitude. Sometimes it even climbs (!)., So for example when a waypoint has the restriction 210/13000 and the plane is at FL160 5-6 miles away from that waypoint, instead of trying to hurry up descending, it stops and even climbs sometimes. Thats why i always have to disconnect the VNAV mode and descend with FLCH. Or i can achieve it, but the plane has suddenly to descent with 3'000 fpm to reach the altitude of the next waypoint, so that it accelerates too over 250kts on final. Some other times the plane follows nicely the VNAV path but when passing a waypoint the bar that indicates the "VNAV deviation" suddenly jumps to 2'000-3'000ft down (so that i am suddenly a lot too high). And a third strange situation is that sometimes when i am already a litlle bit too high over the VNAV path and descend on VNAV mode with the speedbrake sout, the deviation jumps to a negative deviation of 13'000-14'000ft (!!!), which means i would have been a lot too low (!) even this is absurd since i was already a little bit too high a second before. So i'm really having difficulties maintaining a clean VNAV descent to the landing or the final approach point. I attached a Log of my last flight but can give you more informations of course if needed. Thanks and cheers Franz GizmoLog.txt

Hi Jan In fact i could enter in the "SPD REST" for example 240/18000 as i was on cruise at FL350. I then had to press "EXEC". It seems that the FMC took it into account because all waypoints below FL180 were indicated with a speed of "230" (but why 230 and not 240?). But the "SPD REST" was empty again after having pressed EXEC. Not sure if this is like it should, since i know it for example in the 757/767/777 and for them it will stay written there. Thanks and cheers Franz

Hi Jan, yes i rebooted X-Plane after having run the Hotfix (and rebooted the aircraft).

Dont worry tkyler...this plane becomes better and better and you are doing a great job! I really appreciate your fantastic support and that you take every of our reports very serious!

Hi I just updated the plane to the last version 1.03. In the improvment-list i can read: "Gross Weight and VRef values on the approach page now update during flight." That didn't worked for me. The GW stayed the same the whole flight and the VR-values on the approach-page weren't updated. So i had to enter the estimated GW at landing by myself like in the previous version. Not sure if it is me or if this is still a bug? Cheers Franz

what if there is no metar? Ocean etc.

OK, thanks for these informations! -
what if there is no metar? Ocean etc.
frankbyte replied to frankbyte's topic in Real Weather Connector
Hi birdy Ok so i will try with FSGRW again. I purchased it and didn't liked it...i prefer the NOAA plugin. But if the results in combination with RWC is better, i will try it again. -
what if there is no metar? Ocean etc.
frankbyte replied to frankbyte's topic in Real Weather Connector
Are you sure? That's strange because with the NOAA-Plugin i get some changes of the weather over the oceans that match with the conditions i can see on skyvector.com (like thunderstorms etc.) and that doens't seem to be related to any metar-station far away. -
Hi Thanks for this great add-on! I have a question: since it is supposed to model the clouds as there are at different airports in the vicinity based on the METARs, what happens if we fly for example over the ocean? Will the clouds be like they were over the last airport passed? Or would the NOAA-plugin (if installed of course) take over and override it with its own values it gets from the upper sky (grib2-File)? Thanks and cheers Franz

Great conversion! But frustratzing for me, since i purchased it, tried to convert. But i failed...The main problem was that the terrain looked more than strange. If i remember it was completely black. And I could not find how to rework it or delete etc. with the Overlay-Editor, although i have converted a lot of sceneries so far...

The potential users that we are become more and more excited about this release. I've even heard about some P3D or FSX-users who are excited about that plane and the B733 will probably be the reason they will switch to X-Plane. So guys, i would recommand you to ask Austin for some financial parts on the future XP-sales

Hi tkyler Thanks for the news. This plane really looks awesome! But don't kill yourself in expecting too much perfection. My theory is that if we need - let's say - time T to reach 99% of perfection and twice that time T to reach around 99.5% of perfection (you know it'm talking about the logarthmic scale), so if i were a developer i would publish a product at time T, since a lot of users feedbacks will help reach the 99.5% point much more faster than within the team i guess. So it's just my opinion, but of course i don't want to force you doing something you dont want to. But i guess that during the christmas holidays a lot of users will have time to test that product and give some good advises, so that you can publish a bufgix much more faster Whatever: i really appreciate your work and the status reports you give us. And i want to thank you for that. You are a huge contribution for the whole X-Plane community. Thousand thanks! Cheers Franz

THANKS a lot! It is amazing!

What kind of problems arte you talking about? I had no problem at all until yet and run it since a few months.
-
I had the same problem and installed the freeware "PTBSync 5.8". You only have to set the actual time after having started the PC and the time will stay synchronized and correct (over the Internet) as long as you dont shut your PC down. I really can recommand that software.

EGCC Manchester Airport (Aerosoft/Icarus Development Team)
frankbyte replied to ilias.tselios's topic in Scenery Development
The scenery looks great, i agree. But the impact on the FPS at night (with HDR on) is massive! I have almost a high-end-PC with a TITAN 6GB graphic card and i'm having 18 fps at this airport (for comparaison i got 26-27 fps for the Aerosoft EGLL-scenery with the same renderings and the same aircraft). I have more and more the impression tht a lot of energy is put in programming details that are not important for flying but have a huge impact on the framerate - and so on the fun we have flying. In my eyes that's a bad developpment...- 70 replies
