  1. Ever time I log onto X-Pilot I come straight here in hopes that there will be another screenshot. If I buy this addon I may be tempted to actually fly in X-Plane rather than simply design scenery for it.
  2. I think the biggest difference you'll notice is the realistic placement of forests and cliffs in the world. The first time I took off in NZ with his work there all I could think was "yeah X-Plane was missing this."
  3. I have never seen anything so beautiful ever in my entire life there is nothing to one up this in the world my life in complete I will now drop university and enter into the matrix only to fly in X-Plane for the remainder of eternity. THANK YOU SO MUCH You are making X-Plane a better place one country at a time. This is amazing.
  4. I would like to, at this time, extend thanks to Aerobridge and, specifically, Peter, for resources that have inspired me to completely restart this project and make it near payware quality. Forget everything that has been seen and come back in about March for updates. Just kidding - I'll be restarting, but the Christmas preview file will be available for those so inclined, to the quality of the rest of the scenery package.
  5. the M looks really evil for some reason. Note to future WED developpers: WED has a grudge against acute angles along line features, and will fudge them up.
  6. First lines drawn this morning. A day of pain awaits me as I have no reference within WED for the actual locations of the new taxilines.
  7. Finally a photo. Just pavement so far, the orthophotos didn't include the new parallel taxiway. University has taken its toll on how much time I can devote to working on projects for X-Plane, my American Samoa preview pack may be delayed until Christmas.
  8. So far this package will be huge. I'm going to be releasing a demo (like a small, pre-release version, not that the final will be payware) of it soon (I hope).
  9. Great airport for a starter! Can I recommend curving the taxiways by clicking and dragging when drawing the outlines in WED? Otherwise looks good!
  10. Ok so I am postponing work on NSTU to make way for another local airport in British Columbia, Abbotsford. Why? Because it has a new taxiway. And X-Plane still has the old one being stupid there. And no parallel taxiway. So, because X-Plane is incompetent, I am going to make CYXX at a quality level about twice that of my current airports, which will serve as good practise for NSTU. Cheers. No photos yet, I only have orthos down and they don't even have the new taxiway......
  11. I'm glad someone's looking forward to it! That's one of the reasons I chose American Samoa (other than availability of resources) is because it's small enough that my computer may ever be capably of running the final product (at low settings, mind you).
  12. Just basically an introduction to what I'm working on... NSTU is Pago Pago International Airports. I apparently have a knack for finding airports that no one, in real life or in X-Plane wants to fly into... Anyways, I'm doing the entire dependency (ie, country, for those of you who aren't American) of American Samoa in orthophotos, custom buildings, coastlines, forests, etc. This project isn't as far fetched and slow moving as PHNL simply because I don't have an airport the size of a large city to build, and it is already more than 15% complete. I have finished the airport layout for Pago Pago, but am restarting using that as a footprint. I intend to make a freeware scenery package for a country that competes (I don't like that word, but alas, it must be used) with the unfortunately aging XPFR Îsles de la Société (http://xpfr.org/?body=scene_accueil&sc=166). Although this scenery certainly does not address an archipelago the size of the French Society Islands, I intend to make it a more realistic flying experience. As you can see in the following screenshot, I was doing extremely well with the airport layout... but it was to X-Plane 9 scenery quality standards... not quite pretty or realistic enough for X-Plane 10. Everything has a nice smooth solid edge, the pavement is blurry... My goals for the next two weeks (other than move into my first home away from home and get more violin practise in) are to create a complete set of custom textures for the pavement, yellowish square things (whatever you want to call them on the side of the runway and taxiways), and especially the runway markings. I would post screenshots of progress, if I had any. Seeing as I have restarted the graphical part of the project (the design and layout is almost complete), it would look a lot like this: Also, here is a pre-development picture I took a few months back when I first decided to try out doing this area for X-Plane. Please note that essentially nothing has been done in this screenshot other than some minor colour correction of the orthophotos and placement of the orthos, no forests or objects (duh). I am in need of some volunteers. Unlike people who just help me out by giving suggestions, you are considered part of the team (so far, two people, myself and one of the other XPAviators). Any help whatsoever will be appreciated hugely, this is a big task, and university kicks into gear in two weeks. Timeframe? None. Hopefully Christmas, if pigs fly. Don't expect it that soon though. Anyways, cheers. Colin Stepney Pacific Northwest Scenery Development Project
  13. I'm just picturing him accidentally calling the ATC call button while screaming "Holy S%$& you F*%* #$#!@"
  14. Good searching. Now, I am taking a week off of everything and going to 100 Mile House to kick back at the lake... no internet... electricity... phone... cell... nothing. No more X-Plane. Four days. Cheers.
  15. Never heard of it, great you just delayed the release of this scenery by another week... just kidding. I won't use ground traffic at this airport because this a major airport that functions more like a municipal airport. Cheers, but I'll definitely use it with my mystery tropical place!
  16. Ground traffic as in... vehicles? I can't model that well, I can barely model static objects realistically. It's not PHNL. Here's a preview: (includes a lot more photoscenery than the default scenery in the background suggests). I haven't done much work on it in a couple of week, I've been taking a break for 4W6 and CZBB.
  17. Sorry to tell you this... I am focusing too much on another huge scenery project to try to model the new terminal... and the orthophotos are so old that it isn't in it. Thank god that the orthos are at least new enough for the main runway to have been extended. Anyways, here's my final post for the night (or morning): Oh my god I am never staying up this late again to make an airport... but at least it's looking good. Almost done with the scenery objects, tomorrow morning will be the lighting, then it's upload time! I'd like to say one more time that I am aiming for plausibility an realism rather than accuracy (for this airport and my other Pacific Northwest area airports). My next airport (a much more tropical one) is much more for accuracy and realism. Cheers!
  18. I forgot to mention like I did on facebook that I am going for realism, not absolute accuracy. I know about the orientation, I've been inside the heritage hangar before; however, I didn't want to dawdle about doing custom buildings for this particular scenery, so I used the resources available through OpenSceneryX and other free sources. It doesn't look good oriented the other way. I do wish there was a good model of something similar, but there isn't. Cheers
  19. Here it is, people, will release tomorrow, then you get a glorious 4 days without a single gosh darned post from Colin S
  20. Cameron, if I can't update my status, then can I ask that my 6-month old status about the progress of my now cancelled scenery project be simply removed? Or if I have had the ability to update statuses suspended, could I have some clarification? Thanks Colin S
  21. Most amazing joystick ever built, best feel - perfectly smooth. I just wish it hadn't broken after 4 years. I think I'll blow the $40 to get a new one since the X52 is, as I stated, awful.
  22. Well as long as it has those nice whispy clouds like in the video, I'm buying it. I've missed those since the days of version 9.
  23. I will buy your addon when my computer can handle the default addons. However, if this is proven to actually be better for framerate in X-Plane 10 than the default system... consider it sold.
  24. This is mine.
