philipwyatt commented on X-Pilot's X-Plane flight sim news in News
The torrent is for sure the way to go! I got mine from 10 hours on the updater to 2 hours using the torrent! plus yes indeed the more people using the torrent tihe quicker it will go! -
Your updates are much appreciated Cameron and your professional approach to this is as ever commendable! I look forward to the update and to continuing to enjoy this terrific aircraft! Best, Phil

I am grateful that you are not releasing this with bugs, but just to clarify should I have already received an update email from you guys? or did you not send them out yet until its fixed? Either way I didn't receive one and wanted to make sure that I wasn't the only one!

and if i am not massively mis advised this is a development we have all seen coming for a while now....I have software on my ipad and iphone 4 which has plug ins for x-plane but was designed to be used with real world navigation anyway even though we are not allowed to say so SkyCharts for example is a perfect way to trace your ifr vfr sfvr etc through the skies through x-plane and real world navigation alike and trust me I have tried both in the same exact aircraft RW andXP This is the future paper go bye bye believe me!

I have mentioned this beofre but I am having a hard time getting her to accept ICAO codes with alphanumeric codes like in some smaller airports around the world my latest attempt was 08GA an Island airport which I had an assignment to fly to in FSEconomy......could someone please tell me what going on and whether this is a bug that will be fixed?? I looked and before someone says this is an iata all the info tells me that 08GA is the ICAO for the airport. Thanks in advance...... Phil

Yup I am on a mac! Phil

I am using it successfully with the CRJ200 I actually am able to use all my panels....the multi the switch and the radio with no issues...... Phil
-
Thanks so much and yup I just put palm to face as I re read the manual and saw that I was flying with the radio in auto! D'oh d'oh d'oh Thanks again Phil
-
Hi guys, I wanted to ask for some advice........the nav radio in the crj200 wants to auto tune when approaching a destination airport correct????? I ask this because coming from KSFO to KLAX two days ago I made all the approach intructions to the FMS before departing...the Sadde6 approach into runway 25l on the ils which was active and the nav 1 radio kept setting itself ....I then kept trying to set it manually to the 109.9 correct freq for the ils and it would flick back! Now i am almost positive that this is my error but how should I handle this correctly....I am confused as to how this works and would love an explanation as to how to get this auto tune feature to work properly, is it tuning itself to the VOR's on the approach and then the ILS and I was just being premature or should it be tuning to the ils frequency? Many thanks in advance for some assistance!! Phil

I will replacate this evening and psot a log a little later on so we can investigate further

as soon as x-plane starts usualy....but I have had a couple of CTDs after a few seconds upto a minute or so of being loaded by as far as I can tell always before the connection happens.
-
Oh exciting I get to write the first post! Might be me but is anyone else having issue running the CRJ-200 and pilot edge. The previous CRJ version would handle it fine but now x-plane CTD's everytime i start with the CRJ and pilot edge in there......... If anyone is having a similar issue please let me know.....I would love to know! Phil

should have added this before but if anyone wants to fly her in FSE please PM me you FSE name and I will add you to the group who can fly her......iI have put a million down on her and financed the rest!!! bit of flying to do methinks!!!!!

I think you will find that the three digit codes are alive and well in x-plane and if you look at the example BUO is the valid code in the database for Bulolo........... Even though 55j might be closed it does have a new icao for Fernandina beach i think............ And as far as landing the CRJ at the airport......I am not going to do that I just want to get her out of there using fseconomy cos that is where she is stationed currently....I actually have to fly her back to home base which is Stuart Witham Airfield Florida near my house.........round the world trip i think!!! Papua New Guinea to Florida involved me heading directly North then over the top of the world through Alask and down so its going to be a long hike!
-
Hello everyone......very glad to say that the folks at fseconomy have fixed the plugin so that we can all now fly the crj sucessfully without the fuel issue happening.......I am however having an issue with the plane not taking 3 digit ICAO codes for remote airports from where i am flying. BUO...Bulolo in Papua New Guinea is where I have bought my brand new CRJ-200ER in FSE and I cannot get the IRS to line up due to the fact that the fms will not accept the 3 digit code even thogh I checked x-plane and the airport is certainly in there as BUO. Am I doing something wrong here? Phillip maybe you could suggest what I am doing wrong here or whether it is an error or bug? I am a bit worried about this as I just spend over 5 million dollars on the plane and that took me several years to save up!!!! Please let me know as FSEconomy has assignments in and out of pretty much every airport in the world and I want to take my CRJ all over but cannot if I cannot get the fms and irs to work properly with 3 letter codes! Another example is 55J or Ferandina beach in Florida Thanks in advance for the solution or suggestion!? Phil

I dont use that plugin for the panels you linked to...... I use Sandy B's one for the switch panel where the alt bat etc dont function but for landing lights strobes beacon it does. The plugin I use for the other panels (radio and autopilot) is found here http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=9116 and was written by Tom Sedge. It works as I described before with the CRJ and I flew with it last night for example...........good luck....the panels will work and dont crash my sim..... Cheers Phil

If I might interject, and this is not saying it will work for everyone but I fly everything with my panels.....they are my cockpit, I do not generally fly by mouse and I have found the following............ I have been running the crj with my Saitek panels quite well.....the radio stack works well apart from the com 1 and 2 which have to be done with the mouse in the cockpit. I can chance crs transponder and na1 and 2. The multi panel (autopilot) is fine also for autopilot controls on/off hdh alt spd climb ias v/s flaps etc all fine (and for the cheaters out there it adds an autothrottle to the plane) and the swicth panel is fine for lighting controls gear up and down. I still need to do all the steps for startup as instructed in the tutorial but the panels and plane with fly fine together fine as far as I have encountered. I saw one crash which could have been down to the panels and a dataref issue but after i cleaned up my custom scenery folder a few days ago I have not seen any issue at all. I will let know if I see any crashes but so far I am having a blast with the crj and the panels! Video to follow!

[SOLVED] No wind direction or speed indicator?
philipwyatt replied to philipwyatt's topic in Version 1.0 Support - Closed!
I have looked at the crj images on google and realized immediately after my post that she doesnt have one so thanks Cam for the clarification.......I will now remove face form palm......stupid admittance #2 is that I tried to taxi with the gpu bouncing alongside the plane yesterday! kept wondering....why wont she pick up speed!!! dirty great generator still hooked up to the underside of the aircraft...d'oh! Thanks Cameron et all.......love the plane! -
CRJ "Sticky" Reverse Thrust
philipwyatt replied to philipwyatt's topic in Version 1.0 Support - Closed!
I just saw Philipp's post and it is apparently a bug under investigation yup and I have tried making sure the throttles are idle and even let the engines spool down before deploying reverse but still get funny reactions from the reversers sticking in reverse or not deploying atr all sometimes....i think it is just a little sensitive perhaps and I am sure something they will take into consideration with the update when they do it........I also realize I posted this in the wrong place and would be grateful if an admin could move it to the support forum?? Cheers, Phil -
Fly this wonderful bird some of us have noticed a reluctance of the reverse thrust to engage and disengage if done manually....sometimes it goes into and out of reverse thrust no problem but sometimes I am three quarters down the runway at 100kts still fumbling to get it to stick......I of course understand that arming them triggers it on touchdown but I wonder if anyone else has seen this problem and whether any knows of a fix or something I am doing wrong????

CRJ Installer Patch Released - Download Now!
philipwyatt replied to Cameron's topic in Version 1.0 Support - Closed!
I would hasten to add that to correct an installer issue and work on a new patch whilst fielding countless forum posts from people submitting log.txt files buy the thousand might have taken a lot of the time of the developers since the aircraft came out YESTERDAY. I am the biggest fan of correct customer relations and service but I think in this particular instance we need to cut a break to a group of guys who are clearly putting of fires at this point in time and catering to individuals problems and teething issues after the release of this fantastic plane. I myself have encountered several issues but so far am quite content that they folks at x-aviation are on the ball correcting issues and suggesting fixes to us the clients, yes it does require a certain amount of lurking around forums but I for one find that is where I find the best fixes for issues I am having.....x-plane is such a touchy beast when it comes to crashes and I like reading other peoples issues and see if they correspond to my own. I approach everyone who has commented here with the up most respect and your opinions are more than valid but I wonder if we should perhaps go easy on them for a couple of days and let the dust settle. Not intended as an inflammatory post at all just a passing observance. cheers Phil
