  1. Thats the best Crescent Island has ever looked, and even Death Valley isn't too shabby.
  2. Thats actually a Focke-Wolf Fw 190. Very neat aircraft, and for a time, a superior aircraft to the Mk. V Spitfire, which was very detrimental to the RAF, for a time.
  3. It is realistic, and everyone wants more realism, so I don't see why that would be an issue. Of course, you could have some sort of easy mode setup (like in the Hydroz.net Catalina), where that could be circumvented.
  4. I'd be willing to guess that you, or anyone could get a refund from the .org, if you deleted the product files from your computer. But, by refusing to do so, you are guaranteed that you will not get a refund from them. I stand by my previous analogy of going to a store, purchasing an item, and then returning to the store without the item, and wanting a refund. No dice my friend.
  5. Again, you asked for a refund on a product, but would not delete the product in question? Seems to me, that you've dug your own grave on this one. Frankly, I don't see why you should expect any help from the .org on this one. If you would have been more reasonable in the first place, odds are, this could have all been avoided.
  6. So, I go to a store, purchase a product, and am unhappy with said product. I return to the store, and demand that the customer service representative give me a refund for said product, but, I did not return the product to the store... Hmm, I wonder what the reaction to this situation would be.
  7. It is plugin based, for X-Plane at least, so any platform can use it. Just download python (for your operating system), python interface, and the X-Economy plugin, and you are up and running. Well, other than signing up for a forum account, and then requesting a game account...
  8. No, that would not be an HF antenna on a DC-3. What that would be is the sense antenna for the ADF.
  9. Odds are, the aircraft crashed, it was fairly obvious from day one, the question though is where? Until their is wreckage in hand, and it can be confirmed that it is from MH370, as others have said, this is speculation. I can agree though, that it was more than likely time for the PM of Malaysia to make such an announcement, because at this point, there really wasn't a lot of hope of finding any survivors...
  10. Oh no, were past that now, because this sketchy, politically motivated captain *ahem terrorist*, and flight simmer (extremely unusual and frightening behaviour for a pilot), and his coconspirator, the first officer, have clearly hijacked the aircraft.
  11. Maps, and dead reckoning. You takeoff, fly to your set heading point, then hold said heading until your next turning point, until you reach your destination. Of course, along each leg you want to have checkpoints so you can track your progress, and make sure you're on track. On legs such as transatlantic, you would be using astro compasses, sextants, etc.
  12. There has been way too much information released. and them promptly retracted. and then released again. Frankly, I applauded Malaysian's methodical approach to releasing information, but now, I have my doubts about everything that gets released. I'm sick of even trying to wrap my head around what has taken place here. In the early days, it looked like some sort of a bizarre repeat of AF447, now, this is bizarre. Rolls Royce refuted all claims, along with Boeing, that maintenance data was sent to them (at the normal 30 minute interval) after the transponder return, and radar/radio contact was lost). Now, we are suddenly in the throws of the media telling us that the jet was sending information to Rolls, Boeing, and more, for FOUR HOURS. The fact of the matter is, an aircraft of this size does not just disappear. We are not talking about a 172 in the Pacific, but it would appear that is what is being sought in the search. If the aircraft did not suffer a catastrophic explosive decompression, was blown up, or was forced down into the Gulf of Thailand, it crashed into densely covered jungle, where it will be damn near impossible to find, until some poor bastard stumbles on the wreckage...

  14. And the Malaysian military said last night in a release, that there was no tracking data that suggested that MH370 made a 90° turn towards Indonesia/Straight of Malacca. So, there goes that. Do remember that it took five days for searchers to find any debris from AF447, and they had a pretty good idea of where to look as well, with the ACARS data, etc. But, that was the Atlantic Ocean, which is a much larger area than the Gulf of Thailand, et el.
  15. Latest report is that the "wreckage" was nothing more than floating garbage... But, now there are reports of another debris field, 200 some odd NM North-East of the last known position, near Vietnam. Once again, to be investigated.

From the BBC, according to the Vietnamese Air Force, there has been a debris sighting, which appears to be from the aircraft (although it is a single piece of wreckage, from the picture it looks to be something like an emergency exit door). Apparently the search effort has also been widened to include the Malacca Straight, between Indonesia and Malaysia, and this area is being patrolled by Indonesia aircraft/ships. As for the theory about slicks, etc, unless the aircraft came down in a few large piece, odds are there would not be any slicks of any size. If the aircraft broke up, or was indeed blown up, the fuel would have ignited and burned quickly. Contact was lost around 1:30AM local time over the Gulf of Thailand, so it was definitely dark, and at FL350, an explosion would have been visible on the ground/sea. If the aircraft did indeed ditch, or go down in the sea, the fuel would not appear to be orange in colour, jet fuel is generally clear or straw coloured, but it would certainly cause a slick.
  17. It is laughable at best when these threads pop up. Every time they do, someone reminds the user that P3D has a rock solid EULA that states it is not to be used for entertainment purposes, but then of course they retort with the utmost of wit and intelligence... X-Plane, has no such limitations, you can use it for whatever you wish, but, obviously you cannot use your copy for commercial purposes. If you wish to do so, you need a commercial licence, among other things. Pretty simple, but I can guarantee there are institutions out there that feel the need to go around this licence.
  18. There are still a few of them flying around Canada, not in passenger service, but hauling cargo. I hear one go over our house some nights, and it is very obvious when it is a DC-10, because it is LOUD. The same goes for the 727's, you always know when they are climbing out of Vancouver, because they are quite loud and have a very distinctive sound.
  19. Just opened Software Update, no new updates on my iMac. Same thing on the Apple site, no new updates for Macs. I did notice that there are now some security updates for some of the IOS devices. Thats all for now though.
  20. Just looking at Apple's site, and there is no mention anywhere of any crucial security updates. I'm currently on the Support > Downloads section of the site, and there are no new updates for iPod/iPad/Macs, etc. I did see an EFI update for Mac Pros, but other than that, nothing from 2014...
  21. If you've got the California Airlines FMS entry plugin (or something like that), you can setup a multi-leg flight plan. Just hit INIT, then enter your first waypoint, and from there, open the plugin, and type in the string of waypoints. Then, click ENT, set the CDI to GPS, use NAV/LOC and fly the route.
  22. That would certainly explain. Regardless, after going through the Avionics.lua file, and deleting parts here and there, the whole works, etc, of the autopilot portion, I consistently ended up with a blank panel, and an unusable aircraft. I guess modifying it will not work. C'est la vie.
  23. Thanks for the file, but alas, it will not open in 9.70. I'm currently looking through the Avionics.lua, and deleting, and un-deleting things, seeing if I can get the autopilot to work... No luck so far.
  24. I'm currently using Felis' previously payware IL-14. The aircraft has a basic autopilot, known as an AP-45, it is very good, at doing nothing useful. The autopilot has always been buggy with the aircraft, so I'm looking into modifying it for my own purposes, if not removing it altogether and using the default X-Plane autopilot setup. Now, I've never modified anything that uses SASL, so I'm wondering if anyone on this forum can give me a hand at modifying or removing the custom autopilot code, so that the default can be used. Thanks in advance for your input.
  25. Why should any person in a position of "authority" over at the .org comment on a thread like this? Why the hell would someone want to put themselves into a thread like this? Lets face it, if someone decided to step into this, such as a mod, they would automatically become public enemy number one for most of the disgruntled members on this site, and in this thread. But hey, sounds like fun to me...
