  1. Thought so... In other words I may as well just get the 5870 when I buy a Mac Pro, and if X-Plane starts supporting dual cards just buy another later.
  2. The question is, how much of a difference would you note if you bought a Mac Pro with two ATI Radeon HD 5770's, versus a single 5870. Although I doubt X-Plane can actually take advantage of dual video cards, but that would be quite nice if it could. Can anyone confirm or deny this assumption?
  3. Your specs are decent enough, but what will be a problem is your 256mb video card... And the worst part is that in your iMac's case, you cannot replace the video card. Well you can, but you need to get a technician to do it, and it will cost a lot of money... The best bet for Apple users who are looking to get a computer in which you can easily replace any hardware, including the video card, would be the Mac Pro. Now of course it is plenty expensive, but in my opinion, the increase in hardware performance and the easy upgradability and repair factor out weighs the cost.
  4. Jim, could it be that cinema verite (sp?) is now set to be on as default? Because from your video that appears to be what your getting, the small up and down, left and right movements.
  5. I'd agree with that, and it might be a good idea to look at what Denis put in his Grumman Goose aircraft, what ever model that autopilot is... Here is a picture of it in a real Goose, and I saw one once in a Beaver for sale as well. http://www.controlle...SE/1217895.htm? Edit: Here it in a really modernized Beaver. The model is S-Tec 60 Autopilot. http://www.controller.com/listingsdetail/aircraft-for-sale/DEHAVILLAND-DHC-2/1955-DEHAVILLAND-DHC-2/1170418.htm?
  6. To be honest, I'd hate to see an autopilot within the vintage Beaver cockpit, but since you are making a modernized look as well, with a G430, I don't see why one variant shouldn't include a simple autopilot as well...
  7. I would swear you can implement that purely through planemaker. As a matter of fact, I remember using Jacques Brault's Norseman and it has the same feature. Look for flaperons under special controls, or something similar, and you should be able to make it work.
  8. I also love aircraft that come from the bygone era, radials, inline singles, inline twins, etc... I have no problem with there not being a GPS in your aircraft, the only reason I mentioned it was because I have seen pictures of one with it. If I was to suggest that you add one, I would have said it out right, not in some convoluted way through a story. I tend to disagree with your statement that pilots who learn to fly with a GPS on board will never be a pilot... I'm currently getting my PPL, and most of the schools aircraft include a GPS of some sort (there are a few that have yet to be upgraded to include them) I find the GPS to be a reassurance, it can help you get out of a jam, but I will not rely on them by any means. If I'm flying I will always have my VTA chart out, and a VNC nearby for reference.
  9. I'd certainly hope to see a C-47 livery, and a Buffalo one as well. C-GPNR "Summer Wages" and C-FLFR, hint hint lol... Actually "Summer Wages" is quite a neat looking DC-3, especially with the nose art that it carries.
  10. Very shiny, and a very nice plane. I've never seen one up close, but I did see some pictures somewhere of one in the old RCAF yellow training colours with a little handheld GPS mounted on the panel... Then again the GPS looked out of place, but I can understand the owners need for something like that because of the way airspace is becoming here in Canada, especially around larger cities.
  11. Awesome, and I will be purchasing this, and a real plus is that it is FSE compatible! Maybe next the team can make a DH-1 Tiger Moth, the original training plane.
  12. I'd be inclined to agree that a Garmin 430 is out of place on any Beaver, it just wrecks that antique look IMHO... Of course, what I wouldn't be against seeing would be something like a glare shield mounted Garmin GPSMAP 196 or something from the Aera series. But, I do understand why you would place a 430 in, especially since it is an easy fit due to the X-Plane included 430...
  13. There are so many different variations that could be made... I'm currently looking at a poster I have that is mounted on a piece of particle board (can't remember what they call that technique at the moment), on special order equipment and arrangements for the Beaver. Different cabin seating setups, stretcher holders, belly camera mounts, dual flying controls, dual rudder pedals, sliding cockpit and cabin windows, etc...
  14. For an early render it is quite good work. I hope to fly this when it is released. Here is a resource you may be interested in: http://avialogs.com/index.php/BookLibrary/Technical-manuals/Aircrafts/D/De-Havilland-Canada/DHC-2-Beaver If you get an account on the site you can download as many manuals as you want, and you can make requests for the owner, Benoit, to post more manuals, etc...
  15. Has anyone else noticed that in all of the preview screenshots you cannot actually see the prop?

    Scenery4XP Announces Canadian Rockies Update

Another excellent update to what is by far the best scenery package available for Canada. In time I hope Tom expands his scenery boundaries and continues going North and East in pursuit of the many challenging and beautiful areas Canada has to offer.
  17. I can only hope that Aerosoft does not only convert or rework the sceneries that they have created, but also converts the aircraft that they have made. It is not impossible to do, as Carenado has shown, and they have made a few planes that I would be quite interested in purchasing from them...
  18. Have you ever read anything written by Austin Meyer? He essentially writes in pidgin English. Dig around on the x-plane.com site, and don't worry this is going to happen.
  19. Funny how people are so bent out of shape over how great the PDMG 737 is, to me I can appreciate the systems modelling, but graphically it looks like a lot of freeware FSX/FS2004 stuff I've seen shots of. Kind of a pale pasty complexion, and really odd stretched and clumsy looking dials, switches, controls, etc...
  20. Here is a link to a site that holds a whole host of aviation related documents. On the page are two manuals for the CRJ. You will likely be able to find something in them that is relevant for your purposes. If you find a checklist, print it out, and it becomes a much better tool for your use. http://avialogs.com/index.php/BookLibrary/Technical-manuals/Aircrafts/B/Bombardier/CRJ
  21. Thanks for your continuing work to make sure all of the little bugs are ironed out of the new forum system.
  22. The limit I was talking about was for user profile images. What I think people are running into is that there is a file size limit, and it is probably fairly small. It might need to be raised a bit, I think I saw in the uploader dialogue that it is a 500kb limit. The reason I suggest upping the size limit is to allow a bit higher quality image uploads, also for files in general to be uploaded, such as log text files, crash texts, etc...
  23. I bet it is the same issue I was having uploading a user image. There is probably a limit set on the size of an image to be posted. The limit for user images was 150 x 150 pixels...
  24. To quote the old adage, "no news is good news". Personally I prefer not to be constantly bombarded with meaningless drivel reading like a twitter feed from any developers. I like most people would prefer to only receive pertinent information regarding a product and the products associated development. We have seen both sides of the fence when it comes to development information released during the building of various projects. One extreme could be said to be XP Jets (remember I'm not throwing stones or pointing fingers, just making a point), in which they post to a blog on a irregular schedule as it suits them. They release information as they feel it is pertinent, and often have to wade through comments about the demise of the projects they are working on... Frankly I don't want to bring up authors who post in such quantity that they make us wonder if they are running nothing more than a PR campaign. There are many different personalities in our great wide world, and each developer can release information as they please. I hardly look at the development of new pieces of software because as time moves on, if I formed an opinion of it too early, I may become later disappointed because of my misinformed views... At this point we can all relax and take a deep breath. We have heard that a beta version will be sent out to developers before the fall. That usually means a release will be made before Christmas if all goes well. If not, wait until the New Year at the latest. Remember that even MS Flight and Aerosoft's sim will both take time to make. Living up to the expectations of the public is difficult to do under any circumstances. As a matter of fact I remember people who said they were going to swear off X-Plane because version nine did not live up to the original hype it received...
  25. Not sure if any of these manuals might have anything in them about the circuit panels, but if you don't already have them they will probably be quite useful to you. http://avialogs.com/index.php/BookLibrary/Technical-manuals/Aircrafts/A/Airbus/A318-A319-A320-A321 All I was able to find through airliners.net and google images were small, zoomed out, and blurry shots. I think what you will need to do is either befriend an A320 pilot, get on an A320 flight, or become friends with a maintenance tech. Either way to get yourself into the flight deck of an A320 so you can get your own shots...
