Next time it happens post your log.txt and we can take a look at what your X-Plane installation is doing. Don't copy and paste the log.txt. Use the "More Reply Options" button below the reply window and attach the log.txt file. You will find the log.txt file in your main X-Plane folder. That log tells us what plugins you have installed and gives us a clearer picture and some clues into what is happening to cause the crash or other strange behavior.

In an airliner you would declare an emergency and ATC would direct you to the nearest available and capable airport. In a GA aircraft, ATC would do the same, but you could use the "nearest" function of your GPS if you have one. Laminar also produces a product called Xavion. It will get you to the nearest airport in the event of an engine failure.

?? Ability to Pan Around Air Craft in Linear Spot View
ointment replied to RChris's topic in General Discussion
You're welcome. I agree it's not precisely what you want, but I thought it might be a better alternative for you. The exterior views in X-Plane 10 are really my only disappointment with the product. V9.7 had much better exterior viewing options, in my opinion. -
Another quick way to get her to descend is by cutting the throttles…..

I gave a full set of X-Plane 9 to a high school kid as a gift because he was interested in aviation. When I asked him how it was going a few months later, he said he decided he really wasn't that interested. I asked him for the software back so I could give it to someone else and he returned all the discs except disc 1. I wrote a quick note to Austin and he forwarded it to the guy who could send me the disc. Since I had purchased 5 copies of X-Plane 9 from Laminar directly, they had a record of the sale and they were more than happy to send me a new disc 1. I see no reason for it to be a bad idea to contact Austin directly. He's always been gracious and helpful with any request I've sent him in the past, no matter how trivial.

Contact Laminar directly by e-mail or phone and they'll get you fixed up. You can e-mail Austin direct at austin@x-plane.com. Support InformationPhone: 1-913-269-0976 Email: http://info@x-plane.com

I forgot to mention what a beautiful job you've done on all the liveries you've made, Andreas! Nice work!
-
You have to go to File Library>Liveries>Vintage>Southern DC3 - ZK-AMY 1.0 to view the screenshots. http://forums.x-pilot.com/files/file/708-southern-dc3-zk-amy/

If a topic is deemed irrelevant based on when it was started then maybe it should be deleted so nobody else can post to it. Otherwise, shouldn't any thread be fair game to post in? While I think it's bad form to dredge up old topics, I find no harm in doing so. He's an X-Pilot newbie and, as such, he's just catching up on the tons of stuff already posted. This thread apparently struck a chord with him and prompted a response. No harm. No foul.

And this makes what kind of business sense? Product running perfectly for 10 months but you can't sell it because of a distribution problem? Sounds to me like you need a different distribution system.

Leading Edge Simulations Saab 340A Experience

Yep. Or something to give the impression that there is something there…and not just a hole in the fuselage. It's about immersion. Whether it's done by shaders or by some "older" technology (that still works) it helps give the "feeling" that you are enclosed. -
As always, if you attach (not copy and paste) your log.txt file we can look at it and help you figure out the problem. Without the log.txt, we are blindly guessing. Chances are you need to update your aircraft.

If you are in 3D cockpit mode, make sure you have cinema verite turned off. Cinema verite has a tendency to make it difficult to select switches and knobs. Uncheck the cinema verite in the View menu.

The X-Plane AI ATC is disabled when you have the PilotEdge plugin installed. You can still access the ATIS information by tuning in the appropriate frequencies, but the ATC is disabled. If you want to use X-Plane's ATC, you must remove the PilotEdge plugin from your plugins folder. If you are needing more help connecting to and flying on PilotEdge, I recommend starting a thread on the PilotEdge forums.

Did some more comparisons in Plane-Maker V10.3b8 and it seems to me the wing span is closer to 27.4 feet, assuming you don't include the fuselage width. Measuring from the wing root to wing tip looks like 13.7 feet. From the center of the fuselage to the wing tip is 15.5 feet. That means the wing span including the width of the fuselage would be closer to 31 feet. Screenshots attached:

Okay, got my Duchess updated and installed and I've followed the example. So does this mean the LES Duchess wing span is incorrect?
-
I actually tried to open up the Duchess in Plane-Maker 10.25 and 10.30b8 and I get an airfoil error. Not sure what to do from there. I may have missed an update somewhere along the line.
-
Got it. At first glance, his opening sentence leads us to believe he has measured the LES Duchess and is assuring us the wing span is indeed 38'. After your clarification and further study, I now get his drift.
-
Hmmm…..I'm confused. If you don't have the Duchess, then how did you measure it in PlaneMaker?
-
This is false. Plane-Maker can open any livery you want. However, Laminar has apparently changed the way you open a livery and the manual has not been updated. There is no "Open Livery" option available in the "File" pulldown menu. Simply select "Open" in the "File" menu. Then, when the Open window appears with the list of your aircraft folder, select the aircraft you want to open and then select the livery you want to open. Then click the "Open Aircraft" button at the bottom of the window. It's the same process you would use if you were in X-Plane and selecting which aircraft and livery you want to fly. See screenshots below:

I fly on a 15" MacBook Pro Retina, 2.7GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M w/1024MB VRAM. I'd rather have smooth flight than crazy visuals so I don't turn up the rendering options a lot. It flies fine. If you're considering additional monitors, I'd recommend a desktop Mac Pro. Or maybe even an iMac. I haven't tried more than one additional monitor with this particular machine. It does fine running a 26" LaCie monitor.

My mom is dying of peritoneal cancer, but I'm not going to ask for yours or anyone else's help here. Here and the org are the wrong forums, buddy. Now, if you've got an issue with X-Plane, let's talk. While I admire your compassion and desire to help a guy's family, if Froogle wants the help of anyone in the flight sim community I think he's perfectly capable of asking for himself.

Just out of curiosity, was there an error message from X-Plane before the crash to desktop? Something like an "out of memory" error message? If there was an error message, what did it say? First look indicates you have a ton of scenery errors. X-Plane errors take a cumulative toll on your X-Plane performance. At some point, X-Plane says, "Dang! I've had enough of these stupid errors!! I'm out of here!" and it crashes. You should really consider either correcting your scenery errors or dumping your bad sceneries. I believe that would be a good start to improve your X-Plane performance.

Good question, indeed.
