Leading Edge Simulations Saab 340A Experience
arb65912 replied to arb65912's topic in General Discussion
Hey Canox, Great job man! I have to stop messing with Gimp and start flying. Here is mine, I am going to live it as it is for now but I just discovered some new tool I wanted to try. I am going to work on the NZWN approach that was suggested here some time ago and then I will do some experiments with take off power and V speeds for maximum load. Cheers, AJ -

Jim, I have a question if you do not mind. We just witnessed how quick things could be fixed using Gizmo64/Windows/HotFix Feature. My question is, IF/WHEN ( I am sure it will be much less frequent anyway) someone finds a feature or a bug that LES Design Team would be willing to fix, what type of bugs and fixes can be considered? I mean, we are not talking about changing the 3D model as it was discussed some time between Goran and of of the users about windshield area being too little, right? We can possibly expect just things related to programming systems, correct? Is there a way to add a command for example that does not exist in the Saab commands list? I am just curious because as you know from my posts I love LES Saab340A and for a couple of months I have been flying it exclusively but there are things that in my opinion would make it even better than it is now. For example, someone reported having problems with turning DC ELEC knob using mouse, I also find it to be a PITA which we know it is X-Plane limitation , not a design flaw. Would it be possible to implement the command that would toggle the switch between it's all positions? Thank you for reading. Cheers, AJ

He, he, did not noticed the video in your reply John. Cheers, AJ You know, I really have to say that without being corny.... Since you guys came up with all MAXX things and LES Team made Saab340A, my X-Plane life changed so much. I am totally happy with my setup. I can now do outside views at any time for my videos and enjoy superb looking things outside of the cockpit. I did not realize how much X-Plane can be enhanced by using professional, well thought and realistic add-ons and complex aircraft. I can also tell that the response for customers is always there and the willingness to make things even better as well. I am really happy and grateful for all MAX , LES and X-Aviation Teams gave us, as close to reality as the simulation can get. Thank you guys and please, do not stop. Cheers, AJ -

John, stop it !!! :D Are you ever going to run out of ideas? Excellent. Pretty soon XP with MAXX add-ons will beat any simulators out there hands down. Cheers, AJ -
Same here, hot fix worked great. Thank you again Jim. Outstanding job. Cheers, AJ

Happy digging , Flo. It is a great plane, using autopilot or flying by hand. Cheers, AJ

Canox, I edited the post. I am at home now and I checked, the layer mode needs to be Multiply. Just got back home from New York, today is Valentines Day, tomorrow is a Saab Day. Cheers, AJ -
Thank you Jim. Great , fast response. Cheers, AJ ;-)
-
Jim, I am not at home now but i also noticed a bit unusual brake behavior in version 1.1 I will make a video when I get back home if it is still needed. Cheers, AJ ;-)
-
Have fun, Chaps. That is what I did, I key just activates de-ice when things go wild. Cheers, AJ :-)
-
No idea, I was talking about X-Plane icing in general. I had that problem with few other high end payware airplanes and they all crashed no matter what anti/deicing systems were used.
-
It is the X-Plane problem, quite well known. LES Saab340A has nothing to fix in that area. There are two options I am aware of 1. Do not say long in icing conditions 2. Use X-Plane deice command. Cheers, AJ :-)

Hey Canox, I am in New York now, suppose to be back to NJ Tomorrow night or Saturday afternoon. Flew updated Saab for couple hours, no more problem with the right view from the cockpit or outside views, I will be able to show some nice or not nice landings. What are the new sounds in Saab? I did not have enough time to really look at the fixes and additions. Max CTOT is definitely not the best option if you want it real. When I get back and have some time, I will study more and make a nice video on that. I hope that someone from LES Team will correct me if/when i provide some incorrect info. :-) Yes, I know what you are talking , card thing, he, he, that is why you need to look up your v speeds for Saab. Painting in gimp, just a hint, create a layer above background one for your painting. Actually create few layers to paint over different parts. Now big hint, use merge for the type of layer, NOT normal. That will make all rivets and details still visible. If you just paint with normal type layer, it will cover all that is underneath unless you assign some transparency to it. But transparency is also not good because you will lose the color intensity. I will tell you what, gimp is a fantastic program for image editing, I just do not know how to use it's full potential. You do not need windows in paint kit because they are transparent. Take care buddy and have lots of fun with our beloved LeS Saab340A and gimp. I just wish i had more time for all this. Cheers, AJ :-) -
First John had crash on Goran's back ... Now Harry wants to marry John ...hmmm..lol,lol,lol,lol Love some humor here guys and seriously, awesome job john and SkyMax Pro and X-Aviation Team. Cheers, AJ P.S. In New York now, waiting for appointment in Venezuelan Embassy while I should be flying SAAB and experimenting with SMP, sucks!

Quick report from me on frame rate. Inside the cockpit, not noticeable gain BUT before upgrade, I was not able to look at to the right from the cockpit, frame rate would drop , NOW I can look to the right anytime and it works great. Second thing that was IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY is the outside view, before update after flying over an hour, I was not able to use otside view. NOW, I can switch to outside view any time during even a long flight and it is working great with FPS 20++ I am very happy with the update so far as as frame rate, I was not able to take videos with outside views, now I can. Thank you Cameron and the whole Leading Edge Simulations Team. Cheers, AJ

Chris, I am gonna mess up your post. Are you flying that biplane? What is it? 150 CC? I have Extra 260 but only 50CC DA. Cheers, AJ P.S. As far as SkyMaxx Pro, of course , clapping hands for John and the Team. Cirrus layer inforcement was a great idea.

Hey Canox, We have LES Saab340A version 1.1, isn't it great? Can not wait to get home and get my hands on it. You know that I have a whole list for the approaches I want to fly and share but your comments sparkled an interest. Last night I looked at the Saab documentation and .... if you really want to play it real, you would need to determine your power settings CTOT for conditions you are taking off at. You are flying now ( on your XP vacations ) in hot , humid weathere with a heavy aircraft, I would try to do it right, just for fun and see how it works. To determine your take off power settings , you would need to know pressure/density altitude at your location. I never really got into it but now since you brought it up, I will do some studying on it, do my take off , make a video and post here for discussion. Another thing for a succesfull take off would be to determine your V1, Vr and V2 speeds using the LES Saab340A documentation. It will depend on the temperature and weight. Anyway, you got me interested to learn all this stuff, Canox. NOW I have to study all this and then test it with our belowed, upgraded LES Saab340A. Trim settings, I do not know, I have a number 330,340 for a general , normal take off, works fine but now we are talking different conditions so to maintain Vy ( or Vx if you need) we will need different trim. Oh boy, isn't it cool NOT to know so many things and trying to learn? It is for me. Thank you LES X-Aviation Team, you gave me the "tool" for learning. He, he, good luck with Gimp, it is not hard but time consuming depending on the quality of the livery you want to achieve. I have stopped working on my livery ( look below, my SAAB looks like naked, lol, lol) but I love the sticker and a picture in the cockpit, make LES Saab340A much more "personal". Looking forward to your Gimp impressions and some pictures and videos. If ther are any questions I am able to answer, shoot away. Is it time to go home YET????? I want to try the upgraded SAAB. Cheers, AJ -
Guys, last night I was experimenting with the SMP settings, I could not stop. I had to force myself to get opff the computer, I mean it. I recorded a very short video with the clouds moving, will try to post tonight, totally great. Cheers, AJ

YES! YES! YES! Cameron and LES Team, fantastic job, thank you very much, now it is going to be a pure fun. Cameron, would you mind to talk to my boss and tell him I need to go home early because I have a rare case of LESSaabulosis and can not concentrate to do my job? Seriously, thank you very much again, I have been waiting so much for that. Cheers, AJ

He, he, Technocolor was my second choice, scarry what you said, lol. I will check them all out when the software is ready. Yes John, hate that damn snow, it is great for a snowman or skiing and look but not for driving. Have to go to NY Thursday , Carolina has an appointment for password ( she is from Venezuela), hate driving there AND it suppose to be snow and rain.

Well, the real pilots would know what to do but my opinion would be to use 20 deg flaps. I have been able to lift off at 80 KIAS and maintain climb but I can not tell what was my TOW. In normal conditions I take off with 0 flaps unless it is a short runway, then I use 20 deg as described above. Are you taking off with the maximum allowable weight? Do not forget the density altitude is a big factor when it is hot, humid and high. Just try the flaps and see what happens. Cheers, AJ -
