  1. I haven't "flown" Xplane since around March of this year. 64-bit XSquawkbox was the missing piece. Excellent news! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
  2. Hrmm, I'm on a late-2011 MBP 15" with the discrete AMD (6770M) and 1GB of dedicated VRAM. I don't get horrible frame rates in XP10 (32-bit), but they could be better. I may just have to give this a try.
  3. Get out. I run Win7/Win8 in VMWare Fusion VMs currently, although I've never tried to load XPlane (for obvious reasons). If it will actually run faster under Windows via Bootcamp on the same hardware, I'll wipe the VMs and dual boot.
  4. Sweet! I <3 Nil's BK-117 in X-Plane, if he'd build one of these (that looks close to those renders...haha), I'd jump on it. Cameron, you need to get ND Art & Technology products in the X-Aviation shop.
  5. So, the updated plugin is available (first link) for the end-user to install to achieve 64-bit capability, but the download from Carenado doesn't already include it? That seems odd. I wonder if they would support users who modify the install on their own like that. Regardless, the closing line in Dan Klaue's post in the second thread (post #14) gives me pause: Guess I'll hold off on new models and hope they get to the ones I already have soon. The same sort of thing is going on in the audio world. Ableton Live 9, for instance is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, but the 64-bit breaks most 3rd party plugins (well, to be more exact, most 3rd party plugins are 32-bit only).
  6. So if I want to fly the 337 (which I don't own but am tempted by) in 64-bit, I have to buy the A36 as well? I wonder if the same kludge works for the F33, Saratoga and C208, all of which I do own. Although, if full 64-bit compatibility is as simple as updating the SASL plugin, I'd think Carenado would just update the download and start distributing it immediately. Or making a small patch file available to update the installs that are already out there. Hrmm. I recall someone from Carenado (Dan Klaue? Sorry if I'm butchering the name, or naming the wrong person) who said they had to update all of their models for 64-bit and it was non-trivial. My recollection is they were going to start with the oldest releases first and work their way forward. I wonder if there's more to it than simply replacing the SASL plugin.
  7. Is that true for most planes? When I turn on HDR it absolutely kills my frame rates (I'm on a late-2011 MBP 15"). Although, I'm pretty sure the JS32 landing/taxi lights work. Hrmm.
  8. It's always sunny on above the clouds: Enroute from Heringsdorf, Germany to Haderslev, Denmark:
  9. A really awesome step forward would be a more-functional GNS430. In the F33. With the A36 glass panel.
  10. I wish I could find the time (patience, and talent) to do repaints. Nice!
  11. You know what would be awesome? If they'd retrofit that panel into the F33! All these great models available and so little money in the "payware fund".
  12. Some night VFR in the BK17. Departing 50D for 3BS: Approaching 3BS: Dropping in on the airfield:
  13. Back to the BK17! Taking off out of 50G (Nixon Memorial). Too bad MidMichigan doesn't look this lush and green right now: Approaching Midland, MI. That is the Midland Cogeneration Venture power plant and cooling pond down there, with the Dow Chemical Company's Michigan Operations on the far side: Jack Barstow Airport (KIKW/3BS): Considering I haven't flown the BK17 in a couple of months, I'm very happy that I was able to put her down just about where I wanted her:
  14. I would support a Turbo Arrow III or IV. Has to be an easy (haha) derivative of this. Right? ;-)
  15. And a few more:
  16. Over Sweden, just above the (lower) cloud deck. I had filed for FL06 on VATSIM, but ran into icing with the lower layer topping out around 6200'. There was another layer allegedly up around FL09, so I stuck 8000 in the ALT SEL and called it good. It's been a long time since I've had an actual voice ATC on VATSIM. Usually there's nobody controlling in the areas of Europe I've been flying (at least not at the times I'm flying). Not sure who Sweden Control was this morning, but he was very good; intelligible English, good volume, easy directions and not too fast for my decrepit mind to comprehend. Here we are established on the ILS for RWY 32 at ESSD. ATC gave me excellent vectors and a descent profile that worked out perfect.
  17. OK, I admit the Longitude is pretty sweet.
  18. Might be interesting to have a 340A 'base' package and then a 340B 'expansion' or 'mod' package. If X-Aviation keeps publishing these awesome twins, I might end up forgetting about the MU-2B altogether. LOL.
  19. Piper Cheyenne 400LS (PA-42-1000) Beech Super King Air 300 (not the 200 or 350, the 300!) Both have a nice combination of steam gauges and electronics. Good performance, complexity. Based on the CRJ and the JS32, I think Javier could really do either of them justice while leveraging and extending what's he's learned on those. Looking at the cockpit image for the 400LS, I was thinking it would be cool if Javier could integrate UFMC or XFMC. Woohoo! Mostly, though, I would by either so I could have nice XPlane models of these for FSE.
  20. That mountain range in the background is incredible. Nice shot!
  21. Really? Unless i forget (which happens more than I would care to admit), I general have it on Pressurization from take off to landing. Maybe something is broken on my system.
  22. HAHAHA..that is hilarious! Landing the Shuttle shuttle on a carrier. LOL! This view just hasn't gotten old yet: Running from the sun: I think this is going to be my first trip ever across the Baltic Sea in a flight simulator: Should have had some Chuck Berry going for the pax, at this point..."Riding along in my automobile..." Getting darker; I don't think I've had a night landing at a non-ILS field in quite some time. This should be an interesting flight: "Heavenly shades of night are falling, it's twilight time. Out of the mist your voice is calling..."
  23. Weird. I just was flying from Germany to somewhere a couple hours northeast. Set the Cabin Alt to 2000 and climbed to FL150. The differential settled right about 5. Never got a warning. I did have a different problem, though. The plane stopped responding to joystick inputs and I couldn't command the autopilot using the pitch wheel at all (used up all the "up" travel and was still pitched down into a 3k FPM descent). Shortly after that, XSB decided to disconnect me from the network with an "unauthorized client (16)" error. Grrr. I've about had it with X-Plane 10 (and this is 10.11!).
  24. Does that Cub come with the WW2 scenery package or is that from somewhere else? Great shots, as usual!
  25. A quick hop from Poland to Germany in the JS32. Here you can see the icing starting to form on the engine inlets. This never ceases to amaze me in X-Plane. I'll forgive you if you thought it was just the remaining paint flaking off, but it really is ice! Into the setting sun:
