So I have been immensely enjoying JRollon's Jetstream 32. I don't get a lot of sim time, so the 12 hours I've put on her recently says a lot. Anyway, I've been slowly simulating all of Direktflyg's domestic JS32 flights around Sweden. Pretty flat terrain (so my laptop doesn't crap out on me) but enough lakes to keep the scenery interesting. Using a (non-gaming) laptop limits my external visual eye candy severely, but Javier did such a good job with this plane it doesn't matter. Here are three shots from a flight I took between Direktflyg's main base at Borlänge (ESSD) and Göteborg (ESGG). Climbing out of Borlänge: Approaching Vänern, Sweden's largest lake. Final approach at Göteborg (so sad without buildings and a city!):3 points

And here is the night-overhead panel - with lightswitch in "test". We use this switch mostly to awe visitors that come to the cockpit - of course the original purpose is to hunt for burnt out light bulbs in the annunciators. Another shot of the cockpit in the early morning: Please note that all these shots were taken in XP10.21RC2 64bit with the latest Gizmo13 beta version. Jan2 points

Hiya, After adding thousands of square miles of water to OpenStreetMaps in my local region and in other areas, I'd like to do more targeted work on getting water which may be missing in X-Plane 10 into the OSM database so that when and if the scenery is re-worked, water will be there. If you know of a local lake, pond, or river of substance which is missing in the UNITED STATES in X-Plane 10, follow these steps: STEP ONE: Visit www.openstreetmap.org and LOOK to see if the water you are missing is on the map - zoom in close to be sure. If it IS there, great! No work is needed, and if the scenery is recut, the water should show up. If it is NOT there, move on to step two. (I will be very disappointed if you do not perform step one. Save us all the time and effort and make sure that the data is actually missing from the OSM map before making your request.) STEP TWO: Post a message with the city/state of the water, and the general location of the missing water (eg: 2 miles southwest of town center). I'll do my best to get it worked into OSM, but keep in mind it does depend on how many requests I get and how complex the water bodies are. I would like to avoid requests for your aunt's backyard fish pond or the stream at the end of the neighborhood street... if it's clearly visible from the air and clearly a loss to not have it in the sim, let me know! -Greg (PS : Posted to general discussion because while this work does lead to better scenery, it's not really a "scenery design" post/comment and I need as many "regular" users to see this as possible.)1 point

The website XPOND - the crowd sourced "Open Nav Data for X Plane" can be found here: --> http://xpond.herokuapp.com Having found a lot of missing FIX points in the default earth_fix.dat, I started to build a new website to add custom FIX points as simple as possible. Because the information for FIX points is often provided in Lat-Lon degrees instead of Lat-Lon decimals the process was very tedious. With the new website you just add the Latitude and Longitude of the new FIX either in decimal or degree format plus the corresponding name. Hit the -add- button and you are done. You can simply download the whole crowd sourced FIX database and add all the FIXes to the earth_nav.dat -- I know Philipp is working on a completely new navdata infrastructure for X Plane 10 (hopefully on an improved standard FMS as well) as seen and described here: http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php/topic/5040-navdata-1304-star-problem/ Meanwhile, I would like to give everybody the opportunity to use this tool and share new FIXes to everybody as soon as possible. So let's get started at XPOND: http://xpond.herokuapp.com1 point

Remlap I have the excellent citation x for fsx and it was always my favourite, its a very eye candy model. Yes i am hopeless I know. Anyway if you keep developing your citation this good I can see it rivalling my Bombardier Challenger for my attention. Just so you know I appreciate you guys and all your hard work.1 point

LA, I made no specific statement, or assumption, regarding any characteristic of FSX. I still use it and enjoy it. In fact I made no mention of cruise flight even still, which I have no issues with thus far. My concern was with takeoff only. I have read many posts by Japo32, and others, and so far as I can tell this A/C flies as intended. And with that I am referring to, and accept, and am challenged. I have read some posts on what you mention and if there is an issue I hope it is corrected soon. If it effects this payware model, I have no idea. I think its awesome you had the opportunity to ride in a P51. I would love to myself, let alone have an airplane to call my own. :-) Thank you. Steve1 point

Sorry that this topic has not been very active for a couple of weeks. One of the software programs I use to create RealScenery is produced by Laminar. A few weeks ago, a bug was found that didn't allow for two neighboring scenery areas to edge-match correctly to each other along their boundary. We managed to get this bug fixed, but then another very strange bug appeared where a hole to the center of the earth would appear near the junction of neighboring scenery areas. Now, I'm happy to report that this bug has been fixed, too, and we can move on with production. I now have a special build of the software and one that should be very robust going forward. I'm grateful to Laminar for taking the time to help me with this over the past few weeks. While waiting for Laminar to investigate these bugs and code the fixes, I started work on a much improved technique for smoothing/flattening the airport terrain. The current method used in RealScenery products works, but not as well, or as consistently, as I would like. I'm going to finish up the programs to smooth the airports, then re-run the scripts which generate the final scenery using the, hopefully, bug-free software. Thanks again for your patience! no, they won't, that is a problem with normals, you need to highlight that mesh, and add the "edgesplit" modifier to the mesh. do this to all the meshes, and make sure you also "set smooth" all the meshes, so that the lines don't appear blocked.1 point
