Hi

Starting to look into X-plane

What kind of hardware is people using. And at what level of detail...

Could some one make a benchmake that other people can use so we can make a database with diff. setups.

Henrik,

My system is as follows:

CPU: Intel E6850 3.0GHz

RAM: 8GB A-Data PC2 6400 (DDR2)

Video: eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB

HD: Wester Digital Raptor Drive (10,000RPM)

Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D nForce 750i

I can run X-Plane at a usually steady 80+ fps on extreme resolution. If I go extreme objects, it winds down to about 35 fps (I hardly use the buildings at the extreme level though).

Hope this helps!

I run -

Core i7 920 (still standard clocks but will be taking up for around 4.2Ghz)

6Gb DDR3 Ram

Saphire HD4870 512mb

Vista Ultinate 64bit

Now i run at extreme resolution, have trees on tree hugger and objects on lots. also run at 1680x1050. I maintain a constant 30  ???

My system:

Late 2007 iMac

2.8 ghz Pentium extreme 7900 duo core

2gb SO-DIMM 667mhz DDR2 ram

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 256mb dedicated vram

24 inch monitor at 1920x1200

I run X-Plane at moderate settings (Very high textures, buildings default, most things at default fov: 66) and I get around 40 - 90 fps everywhere.

I forgot to mention that I also run Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  I'm not sure why your FPS are so drastically different from mine, Simon. The only thing I can think of is ATI vs Nvidia and amount of RAM both for the computer and video. I wouldn't think your video card would be having that much a different performance than mine, though.

Hiya,

My setup:

   1.      Asus P6T mobo, 6GB RAM DDR3-1600, 1x 1000GB SATA 7200 rpm HD

   2.      Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz 8-core CPU

   3.      nVidia GeForce GTX 295 w/ 1800MB VRAM

   4.      Antec 900 case + 700W PSU

   5.      Two HP LP2475w 24” 1920 x 1200 monitors

   6.      Ubuntu Linux 8.10 64-bit edition.

This gets me about 60 FPS at all redering settings at extreme and 3600 x 1200 resolution. In some areas FPS goes up to 150+ FPS. See also: x-plane.push-point.net

I'd suggest we take note of specific settings for easy comparison.
