Jorike Posted December 30, 2015 Report Posted December 30, 2015 I have just installed Skymax Pro using their installer and the activation screen appears, asking me to input my details which I do and then another screen appears saying "activation successful" although the "input you details to activate" screen also keeps appearing like I have to activate it every time I use xplane. When the product does activate all my clouds dissapear so no weather at all. Quote

Jorike Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 Hi Cameron, I appreciate your quick reply over the festive period. I am using Windows 10 which is set to synchronize automatically. I have checked and manually synchronized anyway. I reinstalled but Skymax still wont activate. I can go to Gizmo and try also. I get the Activation Successful, Enjoy message every time but also get the Please Activate message every time too. If I unistall my default weather comes back. The Please Activate box seems to have a greyed out password already typed in which is longer than my actual password, I have tried both to activate. There is a machine ID number too.Still no luck though. FrustratedRik Quote
Ben Russell Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 What folder do you have X-Plane installed in? Perhaps Windows 10 is preventing us from writing to a license file. Check to see that you can write to; X-Plane/X-Aviation/License Database.lua That's the file that Gizmo is attempting to write activation data into. Does that file exist? Does it have anything in it? Thanks.. Quote
Jorike Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 Hi Ben, I have XPlane installed in Programs(x86). There is an XAviation File but this only has two files in, Uninstall and Unistall Data.So no license file. Rik Quote
Ben Russell Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 Is it possible to move/copy your X-Plane folder to somewhere like your Desktop to stop the OS "protecting it" from changes. (If you're using Steam it won't like you moving the folder around..) Quote
Jorike Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 I can try, I'm a bit worried that this may affect other third party addons.I did find an XA-Activation.lua file in plugins all in machine code. Quote
Jorike Posted December 31, 2015 Author Report Posted December 31, 2015 I'm not using steam btw. so that's ok. Quote
Ben Russell Posted December 31, 2015 Report Posted December 31, 2015 I'm going to discuss this further with Cameron. Instructions on how to manually tweak files to attempt to resolve this is beyond the scope of this thread and best kept in customer specific discussions. Please file a support ticket with the X-Aviation website and reference this thread. Quote
CaptJSquared Posted January 4, 2016 Report Posted January 4, 2016 I too am having the same problem. I'm using a Windows 10 machine 6700k with a 980ti gpu and have tried to trouble shoot with these same suggestions, unfortunately with the same results. My X-plane is also not a steam version. I am a new Windows/pc user as of a month ago, as I've been a Mac user all my life. So still getting to know the system as well. I opened a ticket with X-aviation on Jan. 1st and haven't had a reply aside from the response confirming my ticket. I know it's the Holidays but wasn't sure when everyone will be back and returning to address these installation issues. I also keep an eye on my junk mail incase a service email sneaks by. Thank you all in advanced though, looking forward to getting this fixed and running. Happy New Year! Quote
Jorike Posted January 5, 2016 Author Report Posted January 5, 2016 I have opened a ticket too and posted my log files. Waiting for a response. Quote

John. With all due respect; please go and be patient with your issues somewhere else. Your rude impatient behaviour spilling out into unrelated threads is pathetic. Quote
Ben Russell Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 I have opened a ticket too and posted my log files. Waiting for a response. I have spoken to Ben Supnik about this. We both see installing into "Program Files" as a potential problem but I believe Steam has everyone install there so I'm continuing to investigate. Thank you for your patience. The two reports in this thread are the only instances of this problem I've seen so far. Quote
WR269 Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 The "program files x86" folder is for Windows to create a bubble to work with 32 bit programs. Windows 10 should be 64 but and so is Xplane, why would you install a 64 bit program into a folder designed to interact in compatibility mode for 32 bit programs? I strongly suggest moving it out of there, just drag and drop the program out, if you have doubts just uninstall the programs that have an integrated installer like Skymax and then drag and drop the Sim folder, then reinstall the add ons. Jorike Posted January 6, 2016 Author Report Posted January 6, 2016 I tried that to no avail. Camaron sorted it for me but says it's an issue with write permissions. Quote
CaptJSquared Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) How will I know if my ticket is still open with X-aviation? I think I saw somewhere on the site that it can take 2 to 3 business days, but it's been a week now. I'm not mad (I'm actually a super patient person), but more paranoid that maybe I missed a communication with someone and am still waiting for no reason. I'm still not able to activate my skymaxx pro V3 for some reason. I would paste the full log on here, but I don't know if some of the activation information is private. It has some personal information of mine, machine id and email, etc, and I'm not sure if it will expose a key password to the program. This part seems safe to post though.
