TimeTraveler
Sorry if this is not the right place to post this...please forgive me if it is...Purchased SoundMaxx...Installed. Not sure whats wrong, I've really never had such a problem with xavaition products.(LOVE SkyMaxPro).but, for some strange reason I can hardly hear any of the sounds except for landing. And that sounds like dishes falling on the kitchen floor. (I've turned up n down sound levels in the plugin as well as xplane and system) This happens in any ac I fly...from a 172 to the JAR A330. I've tested everything inbetween like the 747Pro,NASA et al. I also don't hear any ambient sounds..oh wait, at a large airport I do. Anywhere/anything else, nada, not a peep.Incidentally, I've installed SoundMaxx on the latest xpalne 1036 as well as the latest beta3..exactly the same thingThank you in advance for any help. edit..lol, whoever moved this out of the SoundMaxx thread to where ever this post is now, please correct the title you put up there lol...and, do you have any idea what can be done??? thanks a bunchedit2..ahh ha! A new thread...great, thanks!!! Edited June 24, 2015 by FlyPaper
sundog
You'll only hear ambient sounds if your viewpoint is outside and your altitude is near the ground - or if you're inside with the door or canopy open, and the engines off. We can't guarantee that all third party planes will set the proper datarefs to let us know if those conditions are true, but with default aircraft it should be reliable. You may want to try re-installing SoundMaxx, as I've seen one similar issue where that cleared it up. Perhaps something went wrong while copying the sound files in; make sure your X-Plane folders aren't write protected or anything like that. With default aircraft, pretty much every sound effect should be different with SoundMaxx. It should be quite obvious if it installed properly and the settings have everything enabled. I don't think my folders are write protected...but I'll investigate and find out (thanks for the tip!). One thing I can count on, is not only quality products you guys create, but you seem to have a sense of good customer support. Something I use to teach around the world in my spare time. Keep on Truckin'...uhm, flying Well, reinstalled, exactly the same. No ambiant sounds (small carribean airport) and the landings, even using default ac, sound like a bunch of dishes falling on the surface.I tested a few landings and came in at 100-200 fpm, very lightly and the same horrible sound...however if I greesed it in at around 50, the default xplane landing sound comes into play along with the tire skid sound. All my files are configured as you said they should be. I have SoundMaxx installed on both xplane v again, 1036 and the latest beta.Any suggestions? Thanks again
sundog
It sounds like something is preventing SoundMaxx from installing properly on your system. If you post your log.txt, it might give us a clue.
JohnMAXX
Also the location of your xpx main install might help....
sundog
Actually, I wonder if you're running out of memory - your log.txt should shed some light on how much RAM you have to work with, and how much might be consumed by other add-ons or scenery. SoundMaxx's sound effects do take up more memory than the default ones, so if you were running close to the edge, it's possible SoundMaxx could push a system over it. I would expect the symptoms to be similar to what you describe - missing or corrupt sound effects, since your system couldn't load them into memory. sundog
Your system is pretty beefy, but your log does indicate that you have a lot of other plugins and a lot of custom scenery installed. Even with 16GB, you could be cutting it close - or there could be some plugin that interferes with SoundMaxx somehow. I think you should start by disabling your other plugins and see if that has an effect. If so, see if you can narrow it down to a specific one that we can look at more closely. I tested with all plugins removed and shut off custome scenery plugins (darn, there's alot of those!) . I was still getting the strange sound upon landing, even lighly beyond 200fpm, but once I swithched from the 172sp to the 747,even if I came in at 700 per minute (hard landing!), it was all good...no strange sound. btw, that crashing strange sound is definately the boom1 in the sound file in all sound files on xplane. Funny I don't hear the skid sounds in soundmaxx file structure for the 172. And furthermore, I AM getting the ambiant sounds now! (Yay!)I further tested with the plugins replaced and it seemed like the crashing sound with the 172 didn't show until I was landing well over 200feet-pm, less than 300fpm.... Just the normal chirp hitting the runway. Repeated tests it sometimes did 'boom1 sound but alot less than before. I attached log files. normal with plugins and the other named (log no plugims). Also noticed I can hardly hear the flap sound in the 172...the 747 is very loud tho.I haven't tested it in thunder storms or turbulance and will do so next go around. I did, however, go thru some crosswind landings at TUPJ, didn't notice any wind or I was just unaware. I'm a gonna spin up my props again and see if these changes stayed. If not, I'll load up the 747 then back to the 172 to see if it repeats. And, ever since I bought MAX scenery at the org store way back and then skymaxx, I've been a very satisfied customer and your work is excellent. btw my log text attached shows not authorized! Failed: 404: (D:/xplane/X-Plane 10/Resources/plugins/MaxxFX/product_registration.png)Gizmo64: gizmo_loadPngImage(...) I'm sure with SoundMaxx I'll be an even happier camper. Thanks for y'alls input. I really really appreciate it.ciaoThe DoctorLog.txtlog no plugs.txt
sundog
Thanks for digging into this; I'm glad it's behaving better. It sounds like X-Plane was triggering a crash sound effect when your 172 was landing at those speeds. Generally speaking, for things like flaps, crashes, engines, chirps, wind, thunder, etc., SoundMaxx does not change when or at what volume those sounds are played at, it just replaces the sound effect itself. If you hear something that seems weird, it might be worth turning off SoundMaxx and comparing it to what X-Plane does without it, just to see if it's an X-Plane issue or a SoundMaxx issue.
