tobbe490 Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Hallo, Flight factor Boing 757 I have just experienced a fire alarm in the left engine. What shall I do? Quote
Cameron Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 I would think the manual covers this quite well. Quote
SwissCyul Posted January 5, 2015 Report Posted January 5, 2015 Shut the engine down by pulling the fuel valve handle under the throttle lever. Then you discharge the left engine fire bottle. Under the Throttle Quadrant there are two red handles. If you pull the left one to the left or right, the extinguisher will discharge. See if one discharge extinguishes the fire. If not then pull the handle in the opposite direction to discharge the second bottle. Then disconnect the generators and the left engine bleed air. Start an emergency descend to FL170 and start the APU+connect the APU Gen and the APU Bleed to power the hydraulics and to keep the packs alive. Then divert to the nearest adequate airport Have fun and good luck!! 1 Quote
tobbe490 Posted January 6, 2015 Author Report Posted January 6, 2015 Hi SwissCyul, You have been very helpful, thank you! I am curious, what aids do the pilots in the real world have to find the nearest airport to do an emergency landing? 1 Quote
SwissCyul Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 Either ATC or the FMS is equipped with the ALTN page. There you can view the closest airports that have a long enough runway to land and the time it takes you to get there Plus in your flight briefing package you have some alternate airports planned in 1 Quote
ointment Posted January 6, 2015 Report Posted January 6, 2015 I am curious, what aids do the pilots in the real world have to find the nearest airport to do an emergency landing? In an airliner you would declare an emergency and ATC would direct you to the nearest available and capable airport. In a GA aircraft, ATC would do the same, but you could use the "nearest" function of your GPS if you have one. Laminar also produces a product called Xavion. It will get you to the nearest airport in the event of an engine failure. 1 Quote
tobbe490 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Report Posted January 7, 2015 Every time I start the plane is on fire (on the ground). I have tried to disengage "Real limits" in the menu but this dosent help. Sometimes the programs also crashes. What shall I do? Quote
SwissCyul Posted January 7, 2015 Report Posted January 7, 2015 Maybe reset the failures in the 757 menu and click the maintenance button Or you are doing a hot start, by turning on the fuel valve to quickly 1 Quote

Sometimes the programs also crashes. What shall I do? Next time it happens post your log.txt and we can take a look at what your X-Plane installation is doing. Don't copy and paste the log.txt. Use the "More Reply Options" button below the reply window and attach the log.txt file. You will find the log.txt file in your main X-Plane folder. That log tells us what plugins you have installed and gives us a clearer picture and some clues into what is happening to cause the crash or other strange behavior. 1 Quote
