What kinds of clouds would you like to see? We're mostly limited by the weather information we receive, but in some cases we might be able to infer when certain types might be present.

Right now SkyMaxx Pro can represent stratus, cumulus congestus, towering cumulus, cumulonimbus, and cirrus fibratus clouds.

Stratus? Maybe I've just been unlucky with the metars recently. I'll try putting the weather in myself to get some stratus.

Just an update - we're now testing a release candidate of SkyMaxx Pro 2.1 and hope to hand it off to X-Aviation soon. Here's the final cut of new features and fixes:

  • Cloud shadows move smoothly now
  • Cloud reflections now supported in low water reflection settings
  • Small efficiency improvements (eliminated unnecessary callbacks)
  • Added reset button to config
  • Reduced memory footprint
  • Use new dataref in 10.30 to disable default clouds (saves VRAM)
  • Improved cloud visibility distance computation
  • Clouds get darker with coverage
  • Smoother cloud lighting
  • Less cloud popping as camera moves
  • Faster weather update handling
  • Cloud shadows no longer interfere with other shadows
  • Cloud shadows applied more consistently in HDR
  • Anvil clouds now fade out with distance like other clouds do
  • Cumulus clouds no longer allowed to intersect ground level

In short, we fixed a lot of the little things that might have caught your attention before, and reminded you that it's just a simulation. SkyMaxx Pro is now an even more immersive experience, and I'm looking forward to getting it into everyone's hands.

Stay tuned!

Hi there,

I'm not familiar with english language; I have understand that you are waiting for an update of skymaxxpro V2... So, is this update released or are we waiting for it? B)

Sorry for my dumb question

Waiting for it! Should be soon; it has been handed off to X-Aviation at this point.

X-Aviation customers should receive an email once it's available, and we'll certainly announce it here as well.

Are there any plans for 3d water :)?

I wish it were possible! The only way for that to happen, at least with the current SDK for plugins, would be if Laminar licensed our Triton Ocean SDK and integrated it into X-Plane themselves.
