This is Geneva, with Switzerland OSM data used from World2Xplane, I am not sure if Daikan's buildings are in this as I have not yet put all of them.

There are no buildings from my 3D Warehouse sceneries in Geneva (Zurich City and +47+008 have much better coverage and will probably manage to kill your framerate if used together).

But as you can see for yourself Geneva is already pretty good-looking :)

Oh no hmm ok I will try Zurich but that would be later. And yes Geneva is beautiful, just did a round at Schiphol WOW , W2XP is doing great there too . Will post a new screeny later for Amsterdam.

The only drawbacks right now on Linux is no XsquawkBox 64 bit and the AMD GPU Drivers.

I will post a new screenshot of Amsterdam which will have most of my rendering settings too maxed of course except the GPU stuff.

I've removed it from my X-Plane install for now, I'll do another test run before Beta 1. BTW, what is the plane in your screenshots, it looks good?

Also, good news for Windows users, I've created a self-configuring exe. i.e. You just double-click on the .exe and it does the right thing, and will even download Java for you if you don't have it. Now it's incredibly simple to use the app.

Hey,

The aircraft is the Sbach 300 from Xpfr and I tell you , just go and  download it , it's free and it's the best, love the aircraft she is like a sports car .  You may need the tweaks for that aircraft let me know I will send you the files.

I am pulling just awesome frames at Schiphol with your scenery and everything is maxed out except the GPU stuff and a couple of other things.

What system do you have ? like CPU / GPU / RAM.

Excellent, just downloading it now.

I'm just regenerating Switzerland at the moment as Daikan has pushed in some new Swiss buildings to the library, and I might do some screenshots. I also treated myself to Maxx-FX, and it really changes the look of the simulator :).

I have two computers, one is a Macbook Pro from 2011, with 16GB of RAM and a 1GB ATI card, which I do my developing on, but it's not very good with games. The other is a Windows laptop with a 2GB nvidia card, I5 2.3GHZ, 8GB of RAM. It has a 1TB drive, and it's 80% full with X-Plane scenery :D. I don't have a dedicated desktop computer, but I'm saving up to get a decent gaming laptop at some point. An SSD drive makes a huge difference to both X-Plane and W2XP's performance, and is worth getting

Wow new buildings for Switzerland great, looking for the new version. Hmm the buildings look spectacular near Geneva airport, of course I don't know if those are by you or by Daikin.

I have a hackintosh Mavericks on my Toshiba laptop , i5 and 1 GB Nvidia 525m, I have tried running XPX on it and it works great , but haven't tried the OSM and the HD + Photoscenery.

I can not believe that I was able to use HDR in Linux , it worked better that windows. Got to check again .

My main XPX system is my desktop and AMD FX 6300 with a HD 7750 2 GB (has windows and linux ) and I am going to keep linux for XPX and wifey can use Windows.

For the Sbach 300 you may need to do the Puffers tweak too, Jcomm  and I think Murmur helped me out with the tweaks.

I've just done a quick flight around Birrfeld (LSZF) Switzerland, using the SBack, Maxx-FX and scenery generated from the Beta 1 (Which I'm currently working on). Maxx-FX makes it look like an old 70's movie, there is also a black-white movie option, it makes X-Plane look like an old war movie, it's great fun :)

Great shots.

You bet Switzerland is the best in XPX.

Maxx-FX looks similar to SweetFX.

I've uploaded Switzerland test scenery to the website (give it a few more minutes if the link doesn't work). Just drop the folder into your Custom Scenery folder, and place it above all other sceneries except any airports.

Yes, if someone makes the models for them.

Whoops that would be difficult.

Hmm wouldn't  a racetrack be road object ? the only thing that would not be there is a stadium . Can you try it ?  maybe later someone comes out with a stadium object,

It's a road and not a building so it wouldn't work. However, it will be visible with photoscenery or maybe in Alpilotx's mesh. You could also create a model for it and place it there if you really wanted to. It would be nice to have stadiums etc in the application, but for this, I think it's better to use the gmaps models in a standalone scenery (They'd look far more realistic)

WOW WOW WOW. This is incredible. Props to you sir, this will be great!! Just took off from Zurich and I have to say I am extremely impressed. It's kind of motivating me to get back on the KLEB project. I've already started editing OSM like a  mad man around the West Lebanon, NH area. I do have a question for you. If we don't draw in forests in Openstreetmap, are they automatically filled in? I guess the easier question would be... what happens if we don't tag anything in Open street map? What happens with the areas that are not tagged? There's lots of forest to fill in around NH

@skiflyzander

I'm glad you like it :). There is an option inside the config file to use something called smart exclusions. What this does is allow the default scenery (or other scenery lower in priority) to be used in areas where there is no data in OSM. If you've ever use Simheaven's OSM+Autogen sceneries, then you'll already know how this looks. I highly recommend you use Alpilotx's HD mesh with this scenery. I've also created a blog post explaining how OSM is used and how it works with other scenery packages http://world2xplane.com/2014/03/11/what-is-openstreetmap/

This is awesome to hear. I'm really happy it's getting people editing OSM :)

And if you are already mapping in OSM: please don't forget that the base scenery in X-Plane (or my HD Mesh Scenery series) use road/railroad/powerline network data, water features (lakes, rivers) and coastline informations from OSM. So, if you update/add those informations, then X-Plane will benefit from that too!

@Tony,

Are stadium / racetracks possible with your tool ? would love see them.

wondering that nobody has already yet modelled (through Sketchup) the whole real F1 race tracks ^^ Came to that idea when I flown above Nürburgring and Spa.... ^^

They have, it's in Google Warehouse ;). Someone should convert it to X-Plane, it would really add to the scenery

I was going to try Gmaps but I think google has changed the policy. But I will try it .

Downloading Silverstone Circuit using Gmaps right now , lets hope the model is there.

No go, on my linux GMaps complains about an uncompress error, and in my Hackintosh it says buildings not downloadable.

It's only a matter of time before google change the site anyway and gmaps won't work.

It's a discussion for another forum, but I'll never understand why people submit their models or edit google's maps :/

I think it's all because of sketchup , as there are non for OSM.

Completely agree, and I think if OSM had a tool such as Sketchup, we'd have thousands of landmarks already :)

No chance about using Sketchup objects with OSM?

In the meantime I'm trying to do a comparison using the Genèva scenery created with both Alpha 2 and Alpha 6, but I've almost no free time in these weeks...

Not really, the Google Warehouse objects are far too complicated and have multiple texture sheets to be of use inside the generator. Also, the objects generally aren't reusable, being very specific landmarks.
