canox Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Unbelievable addon! The level of immersion it adds is very impressive. Its not just the clouds, the whole sky and atmosphere is improved. It looks so much better! Thank you Mr Maxx, a real work of art 1 Quote

motoadve Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 For some reason I cannot get minimums or low visibility.Any ideas? Quote
JohnMAXX Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Let me get home moto and we can work this out ....at work now and I do not have xplane in front of me Quote
JohnMAXX Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 OK Moto I have a low overcast layer, slightly mid stratus layer selected..... Visibility is set to 6.7 sm: VFR Flying out of KBOS here is a SS of my SM UI settings.... This is a standard representation of overcast for many situations in X-Plane a low ceiling and low visibility with a stratified layer and an overcast layer.... Here is the resulting image: I tested and tested overcast made changes until I thought we had it right. Looks like a beautiful day in London right? Can we see if you can replicate these conditions and go from there..... Quote
motoadve Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 Yes I can get that kind of overcast.Im referring to low visibility to fly IFR approaches. So I cannot see out the window but white.I practice ILSs in X plane but now its not IFR anymore, even if I set visibility to 0.5 miles , there is like 6 miles or more visibility. No matter what I do I cannot get IMC , I always have like 5 or 6 miles visibility. Quote
marty2756 Posted November 25, 2013 Report Posted November 25, 2013 I'm having terrible FPS loss with HDR option, which I've always used... (tested same airport and situation HDR on , but with default weather I've got ~32fps , with skymax less than 20 fps)is skymaxx intended to work with HDR off ?. Quote

You want the "Grey Screen of Death" back? Well heck get the dataref editor and turn it back on...... I turned that off and let the community know it was turned off because almost everyone hated that feature.... Edited November 26, 2013 by JohnMAXX Quote

So many variables at play here. Keep in mind you will also need to tweak the SkyMAXX Pro UI along with your rendering settings to optimize your setup.... Quote

I' think its not top high end, but pretty decent hardware, i5 sandy bridge overclocked at 4.2ghz, gforce 580 gtx+ (VRAM is at 50% usage), honestly i didn't expected 10 fps loss , not even with HDR . Is there planed any performance tweaking for HDR ? (Tested with UI settings at low , and its the same, rays don't seem to be the difference)Besides this, this addon is really great. Thanks Quote
motoadve Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 JohnMAXX I bought SkyMAXX because I wanted to make my IFR training experience more realistic in X plane 10.Im a real pilot and like to practice ILS s approaches in nasty realistic IMC conditions.X plane 10 so far has been the best simulator I have tried and the IMC conditions were quite good. But now I cannot get IMC conditions anymore. Is it possible to have this option Grey Screen of Death" back? Quote
JohnMAXX Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 HDR and SkyMAXX is on our radar.....We already have Bens ear and he is going to give us the ability to enhance our integration in the future, most likely during 10.30.... What kind of performance are you getting overall...... What locationWhat add-ons& What plugins Quote

Moto you may want to tweak your weather for more realism, I have a vid out there showing a pretty nice "low visibility" approach: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX0f2XBANyU For specific situations you will need to tweak the sim to suit your needs...... 1 Quote
marty2756 Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 with HDR on..... I was having more than 30fps on default LEMD, Addon: A320 Jar Design, plugins: World Traffic , NOAA plugin ,(tested this on purpose, exactly same x-plane config, just before adding skymax)Then with skymaxx, I've got fps in the rang of 18 - 22 fps, depending UI configuration. (Just in case I started disabling the rest of plugins, but no fps noticable difference) Quote
JohnMAXX Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 Send me a shot of your SkyMAXX UI and I will make some suggestions..... Quote
motoadve Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 JohnMAXX what tweaks do I need to make to the sim? That video is what I expected to have with SkyMAXX Quote
JohnMAXX Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) Basically make sure the cloud layers are with the ground...... What I mean is if the runway is 1000 ft above sea level make sure the cloud layers reflect that... Also set the "overcast Layer" to Med in the SkyMAXX UM and use this for the base layer....... Make sure the default weather options reflect this, very important that you can set the weather for the right conditions you need MOTO I hope this helps.... Edited November 26, 2013 by JohnMAXX Quote
motoadve Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 It helps a bit , is it possible to make it more grey?Looks kind of light blue Quote

motoadve Posted November 27, 2013 Report Posted November 27, 2013 Can you go to Weather and select a CATIII weather and fly it?The visibility its never reduced. Its not working for my IFR training, yes I can put clouds in between but as soon as you break out of the clouds you have plenty of visibility. Can you fix this? Quote
