Kruttifrutti Posted Friday at 11:06 AM Report Posted Friday at 11:06 AM (edited) Hi all, Finally got my hands on the 650, and I've never been more impressed in my life. Excellent done! I'm used to flying a bit older planes, such as the classic 737's, dc9 and even dc6. So far, I'm getting my hands around the avionics (somewhat decent atleast, following the manuals), but I don't immidiate understand the ILS/VOR CRS change procedures. I'm used to manually allocate a CRS on a VOR or an ILS, but the only way to do so (as I've found so far), is to change the actual NAV source mode to ILS, and then change the CRS, then turn back onto FMS1 + enable VNAV again. Am I doing something completely wrong, or is there some automation around CRS -> ILS tuning? Edited Friday at 12:37 PM by Pils Quote

Nav to Nav transfer Toto on his Discord channel: Then it will auto-transfer to green needles provided a bunch of conditions are met: both sides are on FMS both NAV radios have auto-tuned to the localizer localizer is being received APPR is active and LOC mode is armed localizer needle is about to center Edited Friday at 08:14 PM by birdy.dma Quote

As above post says, there is automation called "Nav-to-Nav Transfer", which will auto-tune the ILS frequency when entering the terminal airspace area, and once APPR is armed and the aircraft is closing on the localizer, it will auto-set the front course and switch nav source to LOC1(2). What you're doing wrong is manually switching to VOR to set the course. Coincidently I did a video recently that featured this. It's 4k, and not zoomed in, so you might need to enlarge it on your end to see the PFD, etc., clearly. Quote
