Larrym Posted November 20 Report Posted November 20 I am using a MacBook Pro M1. Five days ago I installed X-Plane 12. That runs fine. Next I purchased and installed the Real Sim Gear G5 Model 2.1.2. I used the RSGG5-osx-installer.app (dated Jan 29, 2024) to install the G5. Running this setup wizard installed the X-Aviation Cessna 172XP G5 folder in my X-Plane 12 directory. The X-Plane 530 and 430 both turn on and work but do not pop out. The G5 does not pop out, and does not turn on. I can Show clickable regions and see the power button on the G5 is highlighted so my expectation is that the power button should power up the G5. What do I need to get the 530, 430, and G5 to pop out and for the G5 to turn on and operate? This is a fresh installation. Quote
Cameron Posted November 21 Report Posted November 21 For the G5 to work on Mac you'll need to run X-Plane using Rosetta. This will be changing soon. Quote
Larrym Posted Friday at 09:57 PM Author Report Posted Friday at 09:57 PM The G5 is working. The pop out is partially showing, the top is cut off. I can grab the bottom corners of the pop out the resize that. But there is no place showing, like the top of the pop out, that can be used to relocate the window. The G5.cfg files says not to make changes there. How do I relocate the window so the entire displays showing? Quote
Cameron Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Report Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Grab the middle bottom of the G5 and drag it. Quote
Larrym Posted Saturday at 01:49 AM Author Report Posted Saturday at 01:49 AM Thanks for the reply. I found that when I hold the left corner as if to change the size of the pop up window and hold that, then the window slowly creeps down until I can grab the top middle of the box and put it where I want it. Grabbing the middle bottom seems to have not effect. Quote
tkelley353 Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:11 PM I found that if you hover the mouse on the bottom edge in the middle so that the hand icon appears, this will move the entire window. Quote
tkelley353 Posted Sunday at 03:16 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:16 PM I just downloaded the 2.2.0 G5 update and installed it on x-plane 12 (Windows 11). The installer did not remove parts of the previous install - or at least didn't remove the Gizmo plugin because when I launched x-plane, I was presented with two different activation windows. Also, the G5's were not turned on or displaying anything. I tried turning them on with no affect. I then manually removed the gizmo plugin files from the filesystem, along with the G5 aircraft folder and re-installed. As expected, I only was presented with one activation window and successfully activated. However, the G5's are still blank/off. I'm wondering if there might still be issues with proper removal of all prior install files? Quote

The default selection in the installer is to not remove Gizmo. You must select to remove it, which it sounds like you did not do. I have just tested the installer and it works as it should in this scenario. Please attach your log.txt file from your X-Plane folder after running an aircraft with the G5 in it. Quote

To test this, I removed all the relevant files for planes and plugins and attempted to re-install the prior version (2.1.2). It failed because it could not find resource files for download, but it did re-install gizmo. I then ran the 2.2.0 installed and it did not give me an option to remove gizmo. I've included a log.txt from the run with gizmo. I then removed the gizmo plugin directory and ran the 2.2.0 install again. I've included the log for that run as well. Log - with gizmo.txt Log.txt Quote

Looking at the installer code and your account, I can see why now. You have an edge case where the only product you own is the RSG G5 from us. In this instance, if you don't own any other products we sell, then we don't present you with the option to remove it because it assumes you don't have it installed. I'll add some code that accounts for this. Quote
pilot006 Posted Sunday at 06:00 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:00 PM I too am having issues after upgrading. Ran the upgrade, decided to remove gizmo as I'm not using it, and now I'm stuck with G5s that don't turn on. I did get an activation pop-up and did walk through it, and it shows as activated, but the G5s do not turn on. So while the installer hinted this should be seamless, there's something off I just clicked through and now have a not-functioning install. Let me know how I can help troubleshoot. -mike Quote

Cameron Posted Sunday at 06:33 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:33 PM @tkelley353 and @pilot006, I've identified the issue with the C172 and have just cut a new installer that should take care of this. Please re-download and reinstall from the new installer file. @tkelley353, I've also added new code to account for the fringe case like yours where the only product you own from us is the G5. It should now remove Gizmo for you. If you don't mind, I'd like you to run this new installer WITH Gizmo installed. Quote
pilot006 Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:47 PM (edited) I just downloaded from x-aviation and tried to run the installer. It's giving an error about not being able to locate files (the ib:// is bizarre) Edited Sunday at 06:49 PM by pilot006 Quote

pilot006 Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM Report Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM I was running it extracted but I decided to try to redownload it, fully extract, and run the installer. Same error. You can see in file explorer that i ran this from my the extracted files. Quote

Might want to try a computer restart and see how you get along from there. Quote
pilot006 Posted Sunday at 07:07 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:07 PM Just rebooted and the same errors. Downloaded it again and tried to run it one more time...same error. Installer is running as admin and my drive has over 400 gigs free. For giggles I even disabled Defender AV in case it was being a pain. Same error. I haven't been able to get this new installer to work at all yet. -mike Quote

It appears this is still being ran from inside the zip folder (Windows can be very finicky with things like this). Try dragging the installer exe to your desktop and running it from there. Quote
pilot006 Posted Sunday at 07:57 PM Report Posted Sunday at 07:57 PM Ha. I've seen that before with really long directory paths. Just dragged it to the desktop and tried running from there as an admin. Same error. -mike Quote

The 'ib' path is normal and expected. There was nothing changed in this section of code though. It wreaks of a leftover temporary download cache file in an unexpectedly quit prior install. Also, can you verify that during the download process it does download the XP12 C172? Quote
