Hi everyone,

Unfortunately last night my 3 year old Lenovo finally took a plunge and died... Since I used my desktop for both work and school I had to purchase another one ASAP.

I have bought one according to my needs and I think it will run XPX quite well. Thoughts? :-)

Specs are as followed

Processor: Intel Core I7-2600 3.4GHz

Memory: 10GB 1333MHz DDR3

Internal HDD: 1.5TB

Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6850 (1GB DDR5)

Yep. Decent system indeed!

However watch for the ATI/AMD instancing bug. Turn off cars and clouds for the time being; and you'll have fine results.

Will do, thanks for the advice!

The computer should arrive at any moment today. Will post back once I've got XP up and running

Cool! Always exciting getting a new computer. Looking forward to hearing your results! :)

Thanks Cameron! I am extremely pleased with the results. I've more than doubled my FPS and more than doubled my previous rendering options! I feel like I'm going to be up a good portion of the night tweaking XPX perfectly to my liking :)

My all time high for this evening was a whopping 300fps in the Khamsin/Arno B17. And keep in mind, this is with almost all sliders/settings to the max!

WOW! Can you post a pic of your rendering options and cloud setting, along with any scenery you were running? I have the same i7 as you, but only 4 GB ram and a 1TB HD. Thing is, I have a stronger card than you, the 6970. I think I need to test this out...

Unfortunately I'm in class so I can't post a screenshot right now, but I'll do it as soon as I'm home. Is your power supply sufficient for the card?

My average FPS is between 90-120 on the ground with high settings. Flying it ranges from 180 to 250 with my max at 300. My anti alias is the only option that is only medium and not to the max. The 300 FPS was more of an one time deal when I flew the B17. I'm not sure how it achieved that much fps, but it did. I took a screenshot at 290FPS. I'll post it later. I payed 900$ for the computer and it was certified Refurb. New it costs roughly 1200$

Screenshot captured at 290 fps.

Here's Peter Hager's A380 AF with VC. 60 FPS with HDR and Atmospheric scattering turned on as well, and this aircraft is usually quite heavy on frames.

Notice the heat from the exhaust of the engines :)
