Oliver Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Hi everyone,Unfortunately last night my 3 year old Lenovo finally took a plunge and died... Since I used my desktop for both work and school I had to purchase another one ASAP.I have bought one according to my needs and I think it will run XPX quite well. Thoughts? :-)Specs are as followedProcessor: Intel Core I7-2600 3.4GHzMemory: 10GB 1333MHz DDR3 Internal HDD: 1.5TBGraphics: AMD Radeon HD 6850 (1GB DDR5)Oliver
chris k Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Yep. Decent system indeed! However watch for the ATI/AMD instancing bug. Turn off cars and clouds for the time being; and you'll have fine results.- CK.
karingka Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Strange. I don't have any problem with my AMD 6970 and I am running very high specs.

chris k Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 Yeah, Ben Blogged about this a few weeks back. LR is working on it (Driver Issue? OpenGL Issue? Hardware Issue?...They dunno yet).Have a read - Ben can explain it much better than I can.http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/02/three-nasty-bugs/- CK.

Oliver Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 The computer should arrive at any moment today. Will post back once I've got XP up and running
Cameron Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 The computer should arrive at any moment today. Will post back once I've got XP up and runningCool! Always exciting getting a new computer. Looking forward to hearing your results!
Oliver Posted February 22, 2012 Author Report Posted February 22, 2012 Cool! Always exciting getting a new computer. Looking forward to hearing your results! Thanks Cameron! I am extremely pleased with the results. I've more than doubled my FPS and more than doubled my previous rendering options! I feel like I'm going to be up a good portion of the night tweaking XPX perfectly to my liking
Oliver Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 My all time high for this evening was a whopping 300fps in the Khamsin/Arno B17. And keep in mind, this is with almost all sliders/settings to the max!
Oliver Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 3 followed by 2 zeroes is three hundred in my country
karingka Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 WOW! Can you post a pic of your rendering options and cloud setting, along with any scenery you were running? I have the same i7 as you, but only 4 GB ram and a 1TB HD. Thing is, I have a stronger card than you, the 6970. I think I need to test this out...

Hueyman Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Lol guys 300 FPS.. how much did you pay that ? My 2009 laptop can get over 35 FPS on XP9 medium Settings 300 fps seems unimaginable for me
Oliver Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 My average FPS is between 90-120 on the ground with high settings. Flying it ranges from 180 to 250 with my max at 300. My anti alias is the only option that is only medium and not to the max. The 300 FPS was more of an one time deal when I flew the B17. I'm not sure how it achieved that much fps, but it did. I took a screenshot at 290FPS. I'll post it later. I payed 900$ for the computer and it was certified Refurb. New it costs roughly 1200$
larjeet Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 where you flying near the Bermuda triangle at the time ?
karingka Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Do you have any clouds on? 300 frames? That's retarded...
ARTIK Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 very funny. prove it;) video + screenshots...

Oliver Posted February 24, 2012 Author Report Posted February 24, 2012 300 FPS was XPX With no clouds. I'll have the screenshot I took up by tonight
Oliver Posted February 25, 2012 Author Report Posted February 25, 2012 (edited) Screenshot captured at 290 fps. Here's Peter Hager's A380 AF with VC. 60 FPS with HDR and Atmospheric scattering turned on as well, and this aircraft is usually quite heavy on frames.Notice the heat from the exhaust of the engines Edited February 25, 2012 by Oliver
