Waypoints not populating

X-plane 11 C172SP. Selected and activated an approach through GNS530/430. All waypoints showing on GNS530/430 map but G500 unit showing direct magenta line to destination airport with no waypoints

Unfortunately currently X-Plane does not expose the approach segment of the flight plan via API. We have a request in, and have had good discussions with them, about adding this capability during the XP12 run, but it isn't possible currently. The rest of the flight plan should show (Departure, Enroute, Arrival), it is just approaches that don't. 

 

A bit more detail, per the product page:

Note: The default GNS 530/430 avionics do not expose approach waypoint information. SIDs, STARs, and enroute flight
        plans will show up on the G500 map and flight plan page, but approaches will not, due to this Laminar Research
        limitation. If this changes, we will integrate full waypoint drawing. This does not affect the HSI for flying approaches, just
        the depiction onthe map. RealityXP avionics (GTN 750/650 and GNS 530/430) are fully integrated show waypoints from all
        phases of flight without issue.

Gotcha, wish they would've highlighted that particular note in red on the product page. I thought all the bullet points were additional features.

Should it drive the CDI with RNAV? I understand not depicting the procedure on the MFD but I can't get it to drive the CDI at all for the RNAV meaning it's completely impossible to use for an RNAV approach.

Yes, of course it should. Are you using the base GNS or RealityXP?

Hi Coop. Can the database be updated? It currently displays 2112, 29 December 2021 on the splash screen.  Ancient.  Or does it use XP navdata and the splash screen doesn't update to the current one. I use Navigraph by the way. Thank you.

Nevermind. I discovered that I forgot to hit save in Navigraph when I added XP12 to the list. Duh!

I too did not see the "fine print" on the product page and am disappointed that approaches are not drawn out.

Well, X-Plane finally started actually providing that info, but we do need to take time to implement their new API as it isn't just a simple change. It is something on the list to get added to both the G500 and Entegra.
