Altimeter in hPa

It would be nice, if we had the option to set the altimeters in hPa instead of or in addition to inHg.

For an example of a double Kohlmann window, see the stock LR C172. Cessna 172SP\objects\instruments\altimeter\altimeter_ag.dds is the texture with the dual scale.

gauges_ALB.png holds the Islanders scale.

So a possibility could either be to change the texture to display either inHg or hPa, or change texture and object, so we have two windows and can see both values (which I'd prefer).

Cheers, Chris

@jamesrowe I decided to start a new topic, so we don't clutter the GPS thread.

Well, it was built on the Isle of Wight, and may well have been fitted (In those days) with a mb scale, not  hPa.  I still like to think of milibars, which makes much more sense than hPa - but there you go.

A double window is not a bad idea.   No one in the USA uses hPa :)

millibar would be fine by me ;) (hint: hektopascals are millibars)

  • I know.  It's just that the name makes better sense.  Why name a unit after Blaise Pascal, however an eminent scientist he was?   Same with "Newtons".   Perhaps it's no worse than calling a vacuum cleaner a Hoover, even if it isn't.  I'm just a cantankerous oldie.......
