davlc2016 Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 Hello and Happy Easter! Firstly, thanks to the IXEG team for an amazing addon that I always enjoy flying!! I have a question about the FMC/LNAV. In other aircraft, it's possible when you select to go direct to a waypoint, you can input an intercept course (for example to create an extended centerline during approach). I see, however, there's no option for that in the IXEG FMC when going direct to. Is this a limitation of the real aircraft or of the sim? Are there workarounds? Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!! Quote
tkyler Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 you can enter an "extended runway waypoint" based on the centerline and distance from a runway threshold(that is in the database), but not for any other type of waypoint. This is a limitation of our FMS and not the real thing. The real thing does have the ability to create waypoints based on radials and distances from other waypoints, but we did not implement this in our current implemenation of the FMS; however, I may very well look into this after our upcoming compatibility update as in the course of my rewrite of the new FMS, I have since written these functions that can parse the CDU entries and create those waypoints and I may be able to squeeze these into the current FMS codebase. -tkyler Quote
davlc2016 Posted April 12, 2020 Author Report Posted April 12, 2020 Thanks for the response!!! On a similar note, I’ve attached an example of the “intercept crs to” (6th button on the right) FMC feature. Will this be implemented in the IXEG? (Or does the real aircraft not have it) Thanks again for the hard work!! Quote
Litjan Posted April 12, 2020 Report Posted April 12, 2020 The real aircraft has this and we plan to implement it - in a future update of the FMS. It will not be part of the next interim update, though. If you want to "emulate" this function, you can enter the fix (in this case BTG) on the FIX page and then enter (draw) the desired inbound course as a radial from that fix. Then fly to and follow that radial (=bearing inbound) in heading mode (or enter the direct-to again when on the desired bearing). Jan Quote
