Texture too dark

Recommended Posts

The TBM is brilliant. Thanks for the work!

Two issues I had with version v1.0.7:

1. At night, the texture is too dark for me to see the positions of the toggle switches, even after I turn the access light on and adjust my monitor brightness/contrast.

2. I cannot find a ref to assign a joystick button to the throttle's TOGA switch. Assigning a joystick button to the standard XP11 TOGA ref does not work.

You need to calibrate your monitor or buy a new monitor! I can see all of the toggle switches when the cockpit lights are turned on! I can even see them when the red flashlight is turned on! Can you see them in the picture below?

Sorry that I wasn't specific. I had trouble with the overhead switches. Here is a screenshot from the most recent stream of BlackBox711.

Yes I experience the same problem... very dark even with the lights on impossible with lights off

They are dark but I can see the switches in your picture. Try turning on the two cabin lights above the pilot. If you still can't see them maybe it's time for a brighter monitor.

I don't know about what he has but I have a brand new 34 inch ultrawide curved monitor and I couldn't tell at night what switch was flipped up or down so someones monitor is not the problem. It is what it is .......dark

I fiddled with all the lights and found only the overhead light helps to see the switches. So, now I always keep that light on.

New users (and those who don't fly the TBM after a while) will not find its switch easily, especially in dark, and they will try the overhead light penal first, which does not help and may cause frustration.

I am not a dev, and I think the problem is with XP11. The silver-ish metallic texture always looks dark. If I knew how to change the textures and make them look brighter myself, I would've done it.

By the way, my monitor is a 29inch curved ultra-wide screen, a few months old. Honestly, I only had trouble seeing the overhead panels of this brilliant TBM900 and Rotate's MD80 (other people also complained).

That overhead panel is going to be dark in real life too. Unfortunately, we can not just reach up and feel for the switches.  You really don't need to mess with those overhead switches once you start the AC anyways, with the exception of the landing lights, but I just leave them on. Asking the dev to make the color unrealistic is not the solution. Maybe it's time for a feature request from laminar, maybe a brighter red flashlight would help?

FOUND A SOLUTION... DOWN LOADED A LIVERY WITH A "DOT"ON THE BUTTONS SO I COPYED AND PASTED IN THE ALL THE LIVERIES..

Also solved this Problem with this liverie - it is a nice working and very elegant solution!

The liverie is made by Razor94, found here:

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/49405-hotstart-tbm-900-d-fsbg/

As described you can use the two overhead png's for your other liveries.
