SinusJayCee Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 Hi all, I'm currently working on an Air Bremen livery for the Saab. It has a horizontal red line on the engines, which starts at the lower edge of the prop cone (I don't know the exact name of this thing) and runs across the engine. After adding the line to my livery, I noticed that it is higher than expected compared to the fuselage and to the wings. Furthermore, when comparing the engine housing to the photos, I noticed that the part below the the wings is smaller compared to the real one. Finally, the leading edge are below the engine intake, while on the photos of the real plane, they are located rather above it. Here are two pictures for comparison: (Source of second picture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Airbremen.jpg, Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0) Have there been different engines or engine housings or is there a slight inaccuracy in the mounting position? Thank you in advance for the information! Quote
Cameron Posted September 21, 2018 Report Posted September 21, 2018 You're going to drive yourself crazy with this. So many optics change in real life with lenses and even weight of aircraft as it sits.Do your best on the livery and enjoy it. Quote
SinusJayCee Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 You are probably right about this. I'm maybe a little bit to pedantic about those thinks. The livery will be finished shortly Another question, only partially related to this topic: Is it possible to change the color of the probs? I haven't found the correct part of the texture for this. Goran_M Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 There is a Prop texture, but when the engines are running, the prop disc in the root folder of the Saab is what is being shown. You could make your own prop disc, but you would need to make it separate from our one. Quote
SinusJayCee Posted September 23, 2018 Author Report Posted September 23, 2018 Thanks for the help! I found both textures. I expected that the prop is painted with a some parts of the standard texture set (fuselage, engines, etc.). I'll try how it looks like when I change just the Porp.png texture without changing the prop disc. Quote
SinusJayCee Posted September 23, 2018 Author Report Posted September 23, 2018 I tried to change the color of the prop. Unfortunately, they are very glossy, while looks quite good for black blades, but not for gray ones. Is it possible for me to change this with the livery? And yet another question: Is it correct that I've to colorize one of the horizontal stabilizers in order to paint the marked part around the beacon? Quote
Goran_M Posted September 23, 2018 Report Posted September 23, 2018 Making a new normal map with reduced gloss will change the gloss for the props. It's possible to do, but will require some trial and error. And yes, the texture for the flat section around the beacon is on the horizontal tail. (Wasn't me who textured it like that. It was the texture guy that was with us back then.) Quote
SinusJayCee Posted September 24, 2018 Author Report Posted September 24, 2018 Thanks for the quick response! I'll give it a try with the normal maps. However, since I may need a little bit longer to get it right, I decided to release a first version of the livery and update the probs later: 1 Quote
