Multiplayer does not require you to be in the same network (at least not last time I tried).

Simply enter in their IP address (web IP, not router IP), and ensure the port selected is open. X-Plane will alert you when a connection has been created between the two.

Ok, so we looked into it a little more and our the IPs shown in the multiplayer screen weren't in the same subnet.  Our actual IPs were.  Our next problem was that I couldn't figure out how to access my router setup page.  Does anyone know how to do so on a Mac?

See if this helps:

Generally you pickup your router and see if it has an IP address written on it.

It might be: 10.0.0.1

It may also be: 192.168.1.1

There are several other very common standard numbers.

Once you find the IP, enter it in your web browser.

Your router doesn't care that you're on a Mac, almost all of them just need a web browser to tweak stuff.

Finding the admin username and password may be a little harder. (sometimes also on box, sometimes need to call Internet Provider/Telco)
