Activate software

I recently purchased  1 x Take Command!: Saab 340A (SF340 1.4.1)  and tried everything to open the file . Do I need another software beside what I have? All this is very new to me.

Can someone direct me in the right direction

Don't really understand the question. So, my answer is may be off.

The downloaded file is a compressed one.

I know nothing about Mac. If you run Win, you need something like IZArc or 7 zip to decompress the file.
