whiskeyportal Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Been having this issue on and off now since updating to 9.62. X-Plane starts to load, appears to load and gets to a point where it tells me it is done with pre-loading and just stops. The progress bar is way lower than it is when it loads correctly. I've let it set like this for long periods and it does nothing. Does the same thing if I load it from X-Plane, or if I use REX to start the sim. Some one at he other place told me to delete my prefs, but I have no idea where those are. Sometimes it will load just fine for a while then just take a dump and refuse to start for a while regardless of what I do, even a system restart. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you Quote
Cameron Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 Deleting preferences was going to be my suggestion as well...You can find them in: X-Plane 9/Output/PreferencesThis will delete all preferences, including screen resolution, joystick assignments, etc. You'll need to re-do this stuff upon re-launch. Ahhh, ok thanks. But man, that is going to suck reprogramming all my keys and settings. Quote
Cameron Posted December 13, 2010 Report Posted December 13, 2010 If you want, you can save the following two files and delete the rest:Keys X-PlaneCalibrationSee how that goes...should save your joystick and keyboard settings. Quote
PhM Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I have seen this a number of times, it seems that there is some possibility of a deadlock in X-Plane's multi-threaded loading. Every time I checked the status of all of X-Plane's threads (I use ProcessExplorer) they were all waiting for something that obviously never happens. Not much we can do but restart it and cross our fingers.PhM Quote
Simmo W Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Yeah, Cameron's correct, keeping those 2 preferences when deleting the rest saves a heap of work. I can get this lock when using some dodgy G2xpl as well, but removing that fixes it. Still, on the odd occasion every few months, I'll have to delete my output preferences. Quote
whiskeyportal Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 Thanks for the help guys, finally went ahead and removed all the files except the two specified, unfortunately it didn't save my keys . Oh well, at least when I go to start XP it doesn't act like FSX anymore. Quote
