Hello,

During my last few flights, HDG SEL roll mode becomes active upon pushing the TOGA button (X-plane default button).

I'm pretty certain i didn't touch the HDG SEL button on the MCP prior to taking off.

There's nothing really wrong with that, but I thought this feature only worked on the NG's. Is this the correct AFDS behaviour during takeoff when using TOGA?

Hello,

This is aircraft specific. Quoting from the manual:

Quote

The F/D takeoff mode is engaged by pressing the TO/GA switch on either thrust
lever. The FMAs display FD as the A/P status, TO/GA as the pitch mode, HDG
SEL as the roll mode for airplanes with HDG SEL, and blank as the roll mode for
airplanes with wings level.

Where I fly, our aircraft come from a variety of sources, therefore they display many differences in wiring and equipment, and indeed this variance is one of the many we experience on a daily basis.

Most of them are as modelled by IXEG and as you describe - going into HDG SEL rather than a blank roll channel..

And you will get a blank roll mode when you press the TO/GA button in the air (GA mode). The roll bar will provide commands to maintain the same ground track you had when the buttons were pushed.
