  1. I also use a MacBook Pro, not the most recent one, and x-plane does not drain my battery when it is connected to the mains, but I notice it uses a lot of power because the machine heats up; in order to keep the temperature under control, I have rigged a base to lay it on, that allows ventilation from underneath.
  2. There is no option to turn off metar and indeed NOAA uses metar data to make the wind transition from winds aloft to winds at the airport. Until x-plane 10.50 comes along, NOAA is a must for me, which leaves me just the option between living with occasional crashes and disabling RWC.
  3. Hi Cameron, This is contradictory to what Frank wrote a few days ago in another thread: "When RWC is in "always" mode, it downloads its own maxx_metar.rwx file (or something similarly named - I'm the road and can't check specifically) and ignores the metar.rwx file provided by X-Plane and/or the NOAA plugin. " It also raises another problem since the METAR.rwx is newer than the MAXX_METAR.rwx (2016/07/01 13:45 and 2016/07/01 11:45, respectively) and the former does not have the airport I was leaving from, LPPD. EDIT: I addressed this one to Cameron but it was indeed a reply to Frank; sorry for that.
  4. Frank, Tha last lines in log.txt are: SkyMaxx Pro: Found new METAR.rwx file SkyMaxx Pro: Parsing METAR data SkyMaxx Pro: METAR parsing took 649 ms. --=={This application has crashed because of the plugin: Real Weather Connector}==-- Since I had RWC set to "Always", why is it looking for METAR.rwx and not MAXX_METAR.rwx? José
  5. Dear Frank, I had another one of those crashes; it only happens occasionaly. Attached are 3 files that may help you pinpoint the problem. José MAXX_METAR.rwx METAR.rwx Log.txt
  6. Frank, Correction to the latest post. NOAA weather seems to write METAR.rwx, see attached file metar.py
  7. Frabk, Just one thought about this: RWC is downloading metar but x-plane is also downloading metar, in spite of the weather being set uniformly for the world. NOAA plugin is downloading metar itself, but the format is different and also the file location. Anyway, i've always noticed that RWC only seems to start after NOAA does it's job; when I open x-plane there is some type of weather, including clouds, that changes abruptly to the actual weather, as soon as NOAA finishes downloading. José
  8. I don't seem to have a metar.wrx file in my disk; I'm using RWC in "Always". EDIT: Sorry it's metar.rwx and I've found it.
  9. Hi Frank, Today I had to pause a flight for about an hour and after about one minute ofter return X-Plane crashed, alegedly due to SMP. One odd thing, though, is that there seems to be great activity from IA, while I thought it would have been disabled by X-Ivap; log.txt is attached. José Log.txt
  10. I have everything set and metar source is NOAA.
  11. I use NOAA and I set RWC to Always; it seems to work.
  12. Hi, This one is very good: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/22870-cessna-170b/ José
  13. Orth4XP does indeed create a new nesh and so all other meshes are disabled and can be removed from disk, in order to save space. HD mesh and UHD mesh, however, have some elements that Ortho4XP will not generate by default, like roads and autogen scenery; in order to recover those elements you must instruct Ortho4XP to sniff either default x-plane mesh or HD mesh, so, you should only remove the latter after having generated tho overlay for that area. José
  14. Hi, I've no idea, I've never done England.
  15. You can guess for many of the sources, for instance FRnorth and FRsat are both for French territory; you can also open the file "Carnet_d_adresses.py" in any text editor and read the comments about each of those sources. Some sources, like Google or Bing, have worldwide coverage but in some areas one of them could be better than the other; nothing like experimenting. José
  16. You're right, Ben. Joan removed the download app from within the plugin because it was becoming too heavy and slow; the fact that the plugin itself is a Python script didn't help either. The reason I mentioned all this was to clarify this sentence from Frank: "Any cloud data sent from the NOAA plugin is ignored in this case, because the data it outputs is only a single set of conditions for the entire scene". Although strictly correct, it might be misinterpreted. José
  17. As part of NOAA plugin development Joan exchaged views and information publicly with a lot of people; the plugin actually downloads and saves to disk full NOAA files for wind clouds and temperature informatioon, as well as WAFS turbulence information and METAR data. All that information is permanently available on disk but the plugin needs to process it in a way that it can be sent to X-Plane as uniform weather; it actually makes a smooth transition between NOAA and metar, when approaching land, so that the pilot encounters a weather pattern that matches the latest METAR. José
  18. If you wait for 10.50, maybe they will fulfill the promise of global winds aloft; the first beta should be out shortly.
  19. That's right, Cameron, I use NOAA because x-plane did a very bad job with their weather implementation. Will RWC work with on line weather from IVAO or VATSIM?
  20. It is rather disappointing that RWC only works with x-plane's real weather or FSGRW, since the former only provides winds aloft over the USA and the latter does not have a Mac version; since I don't live in the USA and I use a Mac, I'm afraid it's not for me. I was really looking forward to this development and I am very sad!
  21. Hi, I would not recommend running x-plane 10 on that macbook; you'll be very disappointed! José
  22. Hi, I need to redownload the DC3 I bought inJune 2014 and my account says I have 2 downloads remaining but the link is expired. José
  23. Hi, I think I may have found the root of the problem. I am running x-plane from an SSD and some time ago I decided to move the aircraft folder to the hard disk, in order to free some SSD space; for this I created a simlink from the original location to the new one. I believe I haven't flown x-aviation planes sinec then and so i did not detect any problems so far. What I think is happening is that Gizmo does not allow call to outside the x-plane folder, resulting in an error report when I try to load one of thos planes. I don't want to move the aircraft folder back to it's original location, so it seems to me that the only solution will be to link the individual aircraft categories, rather than the aircraft folder, and leave x-aviation folder in it's original location, under the original aircraft folder. This is a little inconvenient, since I have several categories, created by me, and I would like to be able to create new categories without the hassle of linking them every time. It will also be a waste of valuable SSD space. If someone can suggest a different approach I will be glad to hear. José
  24. Hi, I have 2 planes that use Gizmo, DC3 and Cessna Corvalis, and they both started reporting Gizmo problems; I've attached the log file. Thanks, José GizmoLog.txt
  25. Hi, I have 2 planes that use Gizmo, DC3 and Cessna Corvalis, both of them are reporting gizmo problems; I've attached the GizmoLog.txt. José EDIT: Sorry for posting in this forum, I will post again in Help. GizmoLog.txt
