  1. Thank you Claude! And welcome to this much friendlier forum. My iPhone isn't downloading that magazine at all, hence my request. Hmm, nothing new in the interview I feel, I recall hearing most of it before or in all the news articles. Will be good to hear reactions to FS Weekend.
  2. A few interviews happening now! Please enjoy this informative interview with Tom, we really enjoyed it ourselves and are now even more excited about xp10's possibilities- ESP scenery. http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2011/11/04/developer-interview-tom-kyler-v2-0/
  3. Yes, can anyone paste the int into here?
  4. Nice detail there Pete. Boy do I appreciate such efforts now!
  5. Sorry! That group solution addresses my issue- just to be able to click a heap of surfaces in one go.
  6. Thanks Kieran, it's a real hard slog for a nOOb though! Sheesh, his next 7 mins took me one hour to work out, boy am I getting used to the undo key. At one point I ended up with a very crooked looking building, but that forced me to get lots of practice getting verts back in line. Seriously, I do not know how the pro's do it. Ha, I've just seen Pete's reply too..yeah, I love Cntrl R, almost as much as Cntrl X.. Eventually I'll be using that to a lesser extent! Bugger, now the simplest question you'll see for awhile - command for nominating a set of linked vertices as a new object? And what about selecting all of a new set of surfaces, built separately from the main model, ready to be plonked into it, easily? I've tried B, and select linked, but it takes a few goes to get it all - is there a secret way to do, it, or is it just a well known bug?
  7. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help, really reminds me of the friendly and helpful community here. You've all just reminded me I have too much to learn, good job I'm actually enjoying it! Pete, thanks for those Blendercookie tute examples, I'm going through that first building one right now. This is what I'm up to. He goes too quick at times, have to pause lots. Best tool so far, of course, is the loop cut, Cntrl-R is my friend!
  8. And what about this- very brave, good incentive to maintain control, or you are chop-suey! Soon to be available in all Aldi stores http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/german-multicopter-lifts-human-pilot
  9. Very nice, and love all of Manuel's videos! The illumination one was excellent. The title- i assume it relates to fire extinguishing? It's just that in English, it looks like the title was meant to be '..of distinction'. But I'd never even attempt to speak spanish!
  10. Hey Pete, you're obviously a very accomplished Blender user. I have always wanted to say the following to someone- 'I like the look of your Beaver!!
  11. No Pete, not out of context, any recommended tutes appreciated, thanks!
  12. Took our kid out to YMEN Essendon today, it's the base for our police and ambulance airwings. We literally rocked up and saw all this happening straight away, very lucky! Heli-nuts will like. Taken with the new iPhone 4S, great quality and obviously so convenient! Ambo spool up and takeoff: Police :
  13. Another good answer Tom. This was only an early test with my very first tiny G translate, but I'm bookmarking this answer for when I need it for a real project. A great workaround.
  14. Done, found it, duh..
  15. Thanks Pete! That'll definitely help a little.
  16. tx, yes it should! OMG, I just discovered the easy Mesh/ add duplicate command! I'm gonna have lights EVERYWHERE in my sceneries!
  17. Ok, take a look at this car park that Chip built in Sketchup, then I've imported into Blender: I'm concerned at: (a) the extra amount of clicking I'll need to do to select all those faces to texture!; and ( the possible increase in load on Xplane by having such a relatively simple object with so many faces. Whatya think gurus? Sketchup is very easy for people to use, but is there a hidden cost to this ease, as illustrated? SU to xplane tells me this has over 8000 triangles. To the left is a base I built in Blender, it seems much simpler. Then again, I am yet to work out how on earth I'll make a hole for the ramp! Is it as simple as Cntrl-shift-F8-left Alt-left mouse click????? Thanks in anticipation of an answer. s
  18. Hi Pete, I've just tried to locate the object settings, can't find anywhere to change the setting. I've looked in properties when in object mode, can't see it in object tools. Is this meant to be easy? Stand by for another question coming through. Every time I think I've learnt more, there's more to discover!
  19. And Pete, what do you mean by a proper inset?
  20. Thanks Pete, all good points that I will investigate. Yes I just pushed that right face in a bit to create the cavity to see some AO at work. Didn't know about the double face issue, that'll save a lot of work later! Not at my pc for a day or so, I'll report back. I did find another area to improve the render quality, can't recall it right now.It largely reduced those artifacts. So many options to try
  21. Hehe, it must be my 'medication'
  22. Hi everyone, Anyone know what's going on with my settings in blender, that cause the unsightly large dots in this image? I'm really pleased to now be able to render an object, fiddle like crazy with settings (still don't know half the effects!) and then finally have it UV mapped to a texture file, but this is driving me crazy. I tried upping a few settings, but can't remove the less subtle black areas you see. Any ideas? is it another setting other than AO? Thanks Simon
  23. yes Arno, haha! Chip said as much to me when I told him I was trying it. It will be a long 4play :-)
  24. Ha, I didn't say that! I'm not at that stage just yet- It still is frustrating, got stuck just now. But it's heaps more capable than AC3d and the price is right :-)
