To follow on from Jim's good vid of Rise of Flight - I just bought this, and yes, I've delivered plenty of explosions, shooting, smoke and debris. A cool game, once you configure the controls correctly (which I had NOT at the time of filming). Stuka dive bomb next up. I'll be blogging about this game, mainly as a pointer to the future of Xplane and the benefits of competition!

I first thought the instructor was doing it deliberately! Not good enough, he didn't use his indicators when turning right.

My first Rise of Flight Video in 1080P
Simmo W replied to Jim Kallinen's topic in General Discussion
Great vid Jim, I'm thinking of getting that too, especially for the night effects! Vid please?! I've just bought Wings of Prey, another pretty sim, but controls seem to be extremely touchy. Will video when ready. Crap replay features, Rise of Flight has good camera control? And here is a great new A10c sim, and I can say 'sim' from seeing this video, pretty deep http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=aSIGzDMJ-ik I enjoyed all your other iPhone vids of Cameron flying his new toys, Norcal looks pretty crisp, and that's on a tv filmed on an iPhone! -
Scenery of the Week: KSLC | Salt Lake City International
Simmo W replied to Simmo W's topic in Xplane10's Blog
A pleasure! Yes a varied locale and Chip knows it well. I'll try it out inbetween Lebelge epics. Just downloaded his 2gig Martinique scenery, the crispest photoscenery I've yet seen, including my own G2xpl. I say yet, as we are ALL awaiting the Gigabytes of Norcal (good name for a Conan movie..) -
No probs jack, it's pretty useless, just a bit of $5 fun. And not exactly accurate/uniform! The kid likes it though, and saves on cleaning bills. Amazing possibilities for the future though.

Scenery of the Week: KSLC | Salt Lake City International It seems just as X-Plane v9 turns onto the home stretch and races for the finish line we’re going to be blessed with some of the most interesting scenery releases of the year. There’ve been some really good scenery releases of late – EICK Cork, Ireland comes first to mind; Tom Curtis’ Seattle area Boeing [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1314&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/07/scenery-of-the-week-kslc-salt-lake-city-international/

Lebelge’s Malta scenery Reviewed As with all of Damman Thierry’s sceneries, this latest release from ‘Lebelge’ is top-rate, I’ll cut to the chase and say it is a must-have. The pictures below tell the majority of the story, and I can say all the objects are still FPS friendly. I’ll get the minor negative points right out of the [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1329&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/08/lebelges-malta-scenery-reviewed/

Mini-post – Internet woes Timely after my Lebelge scenery review. For the last few months I was getting frustrated with my internet speed, it eventually slowed to crawl, only 1.3 Mbits. Those Youtube videos you may have seen (yay, over 200 subscribers now, thankyou!) were taking 2 hours to upload, IF they worked at all. So a quick call [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1345&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/08/mini-post-internet-woes/

And I just spotted the roundabout in the first pic, that is insane. Gotta put a statue in there

Wow Oliver, those roads and buildings look so nicely positioned! I used the R2 pack in KMPI, so don't let that stop you distributing, and if you've used XPFR stuff, if you ask I'm sure you'll be given permission to issue. Indeed if it's good enough, maybe they'll host it.

Robin DR400-180 Regent V2 by XP France Released today at X-Plane.ORG (http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=11835), the Robin DR400-180 (two versions included) is a very nice little GA aircraft with a very good 3D panel and a decent set of 3D manipulator objects on board, so let’s take a close look at this little bird. She has some sweet features and a couple of glaring problems too, [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1291&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/04/robin-dr400-180-regent-v2-by-xp-france/

Windoze 7 “upgrade†Today I finally got around to ‘upgrading’ from Windows Disaster (a.k.a. Vista) to Windows 7. I put the word ‘upgrade’ in quotation marks, as Chip loves to remind me that, him being a Mac person, he reckons no Windows software is an upgrade! Yeah, I’m slumming it. As I also use itunes, ipods, an ipad [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1307&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/06/windoze-7-upgrade/

XPFR site is back up! Yes, one of our most favourite xplane contributors is back up after an extended website maintenance period. Well done Arnaud and team, it’s running much quicker now! For those new to xplane, this team is a must visit for some amazing FREEWARE planes like the Alphajet, PC-7 and Flamant, plus their famous scenery coverage http://www.xpfr.org/DEV_SITE/index.php<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1281&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/02/xpfr-site-is-back-up/

JRollon’s Beech Mentor: Another Look Javier Rollon’s Mentor has been out for a while now, long enough to have had a couple of reviews posted, long enough to have established a pretty decent reputation, and that good reputation was secured by what has to be the most captivating night panel in X-Plane. I saw Simon’s early screenshots and was suitably [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1268&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/11/02/jrollons-beech-mentor-another-look/

News from the ramps…including a little surprise! 1 November 2010   XP10 Reviews News Top of the News: Saab 340A developments Well, the beat goes on… We were speaking with Goran at Leading Edge Simulations recently about works-in-progress, and we talked about systems integration and programming the pre-FMC/GPS panel on the Saab 340A that will be included in his next release. RealScenery Enhanced Expansion PackReno & Carson City 1080P
Simmo W replied to Jim Kallinen's topic in Videos
Looking nice, the last mountainous bit the best. Javier's surname is 'Rollon' though, at least it's a short vid that can be replaced pretty quick But sheesh, YouTube seems very slow for uploading lately, my end at least. -
Ha, no one's got my suggestion that it is NOT for coffee. I was more hinting that it is for convenient relieving of the long term effects of liquid consumption..hope it comes with a lid though

SASL Plug-In conflict with MacOS, KMMH news This past week, after installing the revised An-148 and the latest x737, my keyboards stopped working, but only in X-Plane. I say keyboards because I have both wired and Bluetooth versions on hand, and both failed to work in X-P. I traced it down to the Scriptable Avionics Simulation Library (SASL) plug-in that was automatically installed [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1252&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/10/29/sasl-plug-in-conflict-with-macos-kmmh-news/

Brag Alert Chip will detail further, but I know he’s just ordered a brand new Mac Pro to see him out to Xplane 12.. I advised him to get the 512 gig solid state drive, I’ll be timing the load times for my ‘ancient’ 1tb hard drive pc, I suspect the load times for his should be [...]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=xplane10.wordpress.com&blog=13719699&post=1256&subd=xplane10&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" /> http://xplane10.wordpress.com/2010/10/30/brag-alert/

This probably feels like the average day in the XAviation office ;D This crazy sandbox game 'Pain' for PS3 has the best inbuilt video editor & it 'sucks' it straight to youtube. It's sort of flying...

Gizmo F-16 (Half-baked Programmer Art)
Simmo W replied to Ben Russell's topic in Aircraft Development
Great Indi, got it working with the updated version of Gizmo. Flies fine now, a good base for testing I'm sure. Nice canopy reflection I notice, very subtle. Will be fun to see your new tricks! -
Gizmo F-16 (Half-baked Programmer Art)
Simmo W replied to Ben Russell's topic in Aircraft Development
Ok Indi, I've at least tried her, since I think your work has great potential and you're a genius. So prove your geniusness and see if you can work out why I can't get the ailerons or the MFDs to work. Engines great, elevators work but there's no airport straight ahead of me to land. I just downloaded the Gizmo F16 plane and put it in Addons. Do I need an updated version of Giz?
