I used to have the same problem on my Gentoo box. Never fixed that as far as I remember. Sorry for not useful post, just wanted to mention that you are not the only one with that problem. K.

Yes! ;-) Downgrading 32bit libraries (openal, not Qt!) to previous available in package manager version helped with crashes. Still stutters. I should get an iMac delivered early next week so might not be able to see if it will work on this machine any more. And as my problems were well isolated to my machine and system only, I should not be bothering you with them any longer. Kind regards, Kamil

Please scrap this topic. It will not be bothering me from next week! ;-) Kind regards, Kamil

Awesome Ola, glad you got it finally. Must be awesome and well worth the wait. Have fun!

This is very odd then. It started happening this morning out of the sudden. I have tried to log in again, used different browser. It does not happen though if I am not using links from top or bottom of the page. These with arrows showing current forum. Have you tried clicking on that? If I just use „back” function of browser and refresh page all unread posts remain unread. It only happens when I use mentioned links. Very bizarre as I have been using these to navigate for quite a time.
-
Have also tried in Opera – the same behaviour. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open any subforum with unread threads 2. Open any thread 3. Using navigation from top or bottom of the page come back one level up (to threads list). ie: X-Pilot → General X-Plane Discussion → X-Pilot Features 4. See all previously unread messages being now read. Kind regards, Kamil

Hi, Weird, have been reading few posts right now and have noticed that once I come back to sub forum all messages are marked as read. I am sure it was not doing it yesterday. Can any one confirm? I am on chrome right now. Kind regards, Kamil

Hi there, Another funny* news from Linux front! I have 4 AI planes set up in operations menu but I can hear no ATC talks at all. When I try to file a flight plan nothing does happen at all. Dialog window closes and that's it. I have run it on works iMac and could hear ATC talking straight away. So looks like linux related problem (or I have misconfigured something). Do other Linux users have the same problem? Kind regards, Kamil *) Funny as I will more than likely be laughing at all these problems once iMac 2012 is out the doors.
-
Actually those minor improvements helped greatly on my setup. Away from airports I am now able to fly with pretty good settings on my way-outdated machine. So bug + from my side. Kind regards, Kamil

Hi MdMax, Hope you are doing well! Nope, I do not have ipv6 enabled on my system. Nor even compiled in kernel. Not a problem, can get it working in almost not time, but…

Hi, I have installed 1.3 version using latest available installer (downloaded about an hour ago) and X-Plane 9 is crashing to desktop while loading CRJ. Prior to that I had „This smacks of a corrupted” error message, but after re-downloading installer this message window does not appear any longer, X-Plane crashes to desktop instead (I have reported original error to X-Aviation, but I believe the problem I am having now is somehow different). I went through all plugins and one in particular caught my attention. $ ldd libQtCore.so.4 /usr/bin/ldd: line 118: ./libQtCore.so.4: Accessing a corrupted shared library I have tried to replace this library with one that already exists on my system (comes with QT installed by package manager) but got exactly the same issue - this was long shot but I tried it any way. I performed clean installation of CRJ on both 9 and 10 versions - removed previously installed files and installing from scratch. Still crashes. There is no information in Log.txt at all. Version 9 reads: Fetching plugins for /home/crs/XPlane9/Aircraft/X-Aviation/CRJ-200/plugins OpenAL available device: ALSA Software OpenAL available device: OSS Software OpenAL available device: PortAudio Software OpenAL default device: ALSA Software OpenAL current device: ALSA Software and this is it. Version 10 on the other hand references non existing crash_log.txt. I am clueless right now and it is nearly 5am here, so time to bed. philipp: I have installed CRJ in Windows7 on the same machine. I am not getting any weird stuttering any more (I am sure you remember my yammer ). I am not getting good frame rates though. Way lower than 20, while on Linux I have at least double that (but with extra stuttering while screens are on). Would love to see if version 1.3 fixes performance on Linux but at this stage am unable to test it. Please let me know what other information should I provide you with to make it easier to debug (crashes, not stuttering ). Kind regards, Kamil

JRollon Planes announces collaboration with Turbine Sound Studios
crs replied to philipp's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
No worries Philipp. I do understand how it is to chase ghostly bugs and problems. I should have phrased my question differently. Wanted to ask whether you included your AMD improvements you mentioned at some point. It all will be just a story of the past once I get i7 to run XP10 in few months time. It would be lovely to be able to pilot crj in the mean time though. ;-) Kind regards, Kamil -

philipp, great news it is indeed. Cant wait. Is there any change included that I could hope will fix my stuttering issues? Kind regards, Kamil -
Looking very good Morten! Kamil

Sorry, I know how I am going to sound now, but... go for PC. Way better value for money. Unless you really need MacOS there is no reason to get those overpriced computers. (Funny, just posted it using MacBook Air - work laptop). Just my opinion. Kind regards, Kamil

Centralized repository for X-Plane - build-in content manager.
crs replied to crs's topic in General Discussion
Hi there, Yes, I am fully aware of existence of XAddonManager. Have been using it for long time now. What it cannot do though is retrieve content and how we know stuff for X-Plane can be found all over the place (inet). Integrate it in X-Plane itself, add central repository which manger would be able to download and install stuff from. From this point only this central repository would have to be updated in order to keep simmers installation's neat and up to date. Do not really care for full in-sim integration. It can be separate application but would really love it to be Laminar supported application to avoid different versions, different repositories, not fully tested, broken and problem causing 3rd party's applications. From my perspective I would be capable of writing such an application pretty quickly and easily but this will be just another addon and not sure if could make it anyhow popular. If Laminar does it and provide repository, authors will surely add stuff there. Even .org could serve such a purpose if organised in proper way. Kind regards, -
Hi, I've been having this idea circling around my head for a while now. I would love to see some sort of a centralized repository containing scenery for X-Plane with build in (in XP) client to retrieve content and install it to local X-Plane installation as selected. Developers would upload their work to repository and users could choose to install it if they have interest in given location. There would have to be some sort of a review system. Sceneries must be verified for compatibility and obvious problems as well as to ensure work is matching set quality level. For all installed (managed) sceneries build-in client would update it (on request or automatically - depending on settings) once developer has uploaded newer version and it has been approved. There would be a simple browser implemented to manage installed and available sceneries. From coding perspective I cannot see it being over complicated to implement. More hassle would be needed in maintaining content (ensuring compatibility and quality) but can easily see volunteers doing it. Also simple 5-star rating system would be a help. Another problem would be to maintain infrastructure. The same system could be implemented on plugins side - showing only plugins available for given platform/version combination. I understand that .org contains a lot of free addons like sceneries and plugins but it become unmanageable to keep ones installation up to date and actively visit site every now and then to get new content. Build in content manager system would be a huge improvement in keeping sim's installation in good shape, making it easy to maintain and keeping all addons up to date. The reason I have posted it here is because I do not really want to contact developers directly and know that some of them are present here and might pick up this idea. I do absolutely understand all your effort being put towards v10 at the moment. What do you think? Would you like to see a Content Manager option in your XP menu? Kind regards, Kamil
