EGHI - Southampton Intl Airport (Pilot Plus)
niebieski replied to Pilot Plus's topic in Scenery Development
Good to see another quality European airport scenery release! I'm buying it as soon as i'm back to my XP PC. I imagine flights to and from EGHI can be challenging for 737-200 and Saab 340A with it's single 1723m runway strip and only 1650m TORA (Takeoff Run Available) and 1605m LDA (Landing Distance Available) on runway 20 due slightly displaced thresholds. The 10 degrees offset on VOR/DME runway 02 approach looks fun too. Not to mention it is nicely located within nice 1-2 hour(s) flight time from existing quality sceneries for Germany, France, Ireland and Switzerland. Do i feel excited? -

Is Havana next in the pipeline? -

While we're on the topic of 737, let's take a look at it's older brother ... must refrain from taking screenshots!

Nope, it's definitely -300.

Myair, is it IXEG?

Isn't it great? I'm rediscovering JARDesign A320 along with SkyMaxx Pro 2.0. Both are impressive! X-Plane is getting better and better.

Most of the sky over Poland is covered with huge thunderstorm front today. And that means... CB !! Countless weather avoidance actions, tons of holdings and some diversions. Came back home from work and thought "let's take a look at how things are in X-Plane", on a short night flight from Krakow (EPKK) to Warszawa (EPWA). It's 1:35 am LT already and it's hard not to fall asleep inside this cozy cockpit ;] Our plane is barely recognizable on the dark, cloudy sky. On short final runway 11, overflying southeastern Warszawa. Apparently the thunderstorms have moved to the east already. Safely on the ground and taxing slowly towards the terminal. Yaaaawn... Proof that i didn't lie

One of the most beautiful from you, myair... can't take my eyes off this Mi-26

Couldn't have said it better myself... Warm regards, hobofat! Oh, and by the way, the sticker is...

Can you spot anything peculiar on this shot?

Hi guys! I'm looking for someone who owns SmartCoPilot and wants to fly the FlyJSim 737-200. Never done this before, but it sounds like a lot of fun sharing the workload on a classic airliner, doing the checklists, callouts etc. Think It would be best if the person was from Europe due to time difference and connection quality. If you're curious how it works, check out this video: If you're up for the challenge, let me know by posting in this thread or sending PM. Thanks!

More of a report from the trip than moody screenshots, but i hope you enjoy reading it along with some photos from the journey Background: I couldn't resist downloading the new alpilotx's HD Mesh Scenery of Japan (link). As i haven't flown my favourite airliner in a while, i thought it would be a good idea to take it on a short hop inside Japan. Having taken a look at SkyVector (link) i decided for Tajima (RJBT) - Miho (RJHO) route. Nice, short (~110 nm) hop along the coastline, with the mountains to the south. Departure: Thing get pretty fast in -200 if you hand fly the departure with mountains on almost every side of the SID (Standard Instrument Departure). That's why i didn't have time to get many screenshots, unfortunately... Passing 10000 feet & accelerating to climb speed of 285 kts - now on autopilot. Good time to take a look at the surrounding terrain and some nice looking cumulus. Cruise: Cruising comfortably at FL140. Not a typical altitude for jets, but we aren't going far this time. Tracking radial 279° outbound Miyazu VOR (YME 112.6 MHz) and that means we're on the V59 airway centerline ... more or less (no RNAV equipment!) Air New Zealand (IATA: NZ, ICAO: ANZ, Callsign: NEW ZEALAND), the national airline of New Zealand used to operate total of 24 737-200 starting from 1978 until 2001. Nav setting for the arrival and initial approach? Set. Approach briefing? Completed. Then it's time for... Descent: During descend we skim through a thin layer of stratocumulus, most likely. Turning inbound IAF (Initial Approach Fix) Yonago VOR (YVE 114.10 MHz), we're greeted by some spectacular landscape. Approach: It's really hard to concentrate on instruments with such spectacular scenery on the outside! Intercepting radial 056° outbound Yonago VOR that will allow us to descend 2000 feet, staying clear of terrain. Two Two Zero knots is the clean speed we opt for during intial approach. Maintaining desired speed on classic airliner like -200 (no autothrottle) takes a lot of attention! Landing: Overflying harbor of Sakaiminato city once again. Six miles final, flaps 15, gear down, three green. Here we are, crossing the threshold... Thanks for watching! P.S. Did anyone read it? ;] How do you like this kind of "screenshot stories"?

I've been trying to find my jaw on the floor for the first 5 minutes after seeing DC-10 announcement on ASN-XP. Then i read it isn't coming with 3D cockpit and immediately found my jaw...

6GB versions of GTX 780 started showing up recently. Should be enough to satisfy X-Plane's need for VRAM PSU is beQuiet Dark Power Pro 850W - if i recall correctly.

If you're asking about mine, here they are: - Asus Rampage IV Formula - Intel 3930k @ 4.5 GHz - 16 GB HyperX 1866 MHz DDR3 - Gigabyte GTX 680 4GB OC - Windows 7 64-bit and latest X-Plane beta on 256 GB OCZ Vertex4 SSD drive

That is multi-monitor It looks great on screenshots and surely can be immersive, but i think i couldn't stand those bezels If i had enough space on my desk i think i would have gone for this monstrous 34" LG 34UM95 screen. I prefer higher resolution over big screen in 1080p (TV etc.).

There are at least two types of simmers. Most of us, i think, fly VFR or VOR-VOR (or don't even bother what VFR or VOR means) and enjoy it. Some do set correct altimeter settings and some don't. Some seek real-world charts for navigation and some don't. Some update their navigation database to always fly with up-to-date AIRAC and some don't... The point is, there's a number of us trying to mimic real-world operations by knowing the airplane they're flying (reading POH and memorizing it), having Jeppesen charts at hand (and using them!) and slapping themselves in the face when they're not Vref+5 at 1000ft AGL! (dont take the latter too seriously ). This is the group that i believe "sim level" add-on planes seem to be addressed to most. I was really dissapointed when LES announced their not shipping Saab with RNAV equipment. But i can live with it unless someone tries to explain it to me that this is the way the aircraft leaves factory. Ok, now show me one single 340 that flies regulary in European airspace without RNAV equipment of some sort. You can't. That is the way airspace, airway system and procedures are nowadays - dead reckoning doesn't work anymore. I hope i'm not starting any kind of flame war, but let's be honest for a while: designing GPS or FMS takes a whole lot of time and resources. It's not an easy task. That's why developers don't do it. Not because flying with them is boring (it isn't, if you take things seriously). The one, and only one thing i really miss from FSX days are "sim level" add-ons (PMDG, LevelD, Leonardo etc.) that i can take into VATSIM/IVAO skies and do my best to fly them as close to real life as possible. It's not boring. If you take it really, i mean really seriously it's always a challenge. And it is huge satisfaction in the end. Oh, and by the way, flying VOR-VOR in X-Plane is a joke at the moment. I'm 30 nm from station and unable to receive it's signal because it's on adjacent tile...
