  1. Happy birthday, Chris! PS: Anyone got a cheese cake for Chris
  2. Interesting - must have been a DNS issue. Today vatsim.net is the original vatsim.net again.
  3. Um, no. vatsim.net redirects my browser to http://www.vacc-sag.org/ (english), which is the official German VATSIM chapter.
  4. Nice - the livery seems to fit the 788 very well. I would prefer the grime beneath the windows to be a bit lighter thou - I suppose todays virtual Pan Am is not that broke and can pay for cleaning their flag ships... What about an animated Pam Ann serving serving the drinks in the cabin? Cheers, Mike
  5. Oh, here is the link for the UK: NATS-UK Skipping a Eurocontrol experience is recommended - that site is awful.
  6. As you might have already spotted, skyvectors.com shows a beta version for Europe. Getting SID/STAR for free charts is quite organized. Look at http://www.allanville.com/aviation_charts/ for links to the official sites or at http://aircharts.org/ , which is the most organized site I have come across so far. There are a couple of paid services available, but I tend to forget those names quite fast . One was App-based.
  7. I follow this discussion with great interest. Since running on OS X, more sticks lack important features. I found that the Logitech Flight System 940 looks nice, too. Stick/throttle/pedals for an affordable price. But not for Mac users (trim wheels and the hat to not work). Been reading good things about the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog (stick/throttle combo), but is darn expensive.
  8. Print is dead. Ooops, sorry, some are still alive and kicking. I do favor an Internet solution for that. Consumer interaction, some would call it crowd-sourcing or user-generated-reviews, would be my favorite. Would x-pilot be the right platform for such a project?
  9. Reviews - nice one. The XP market is soooo small, that actually no journalist is into writing up his hopefully unbiased views. Yet. I hope that we hear more balanced "criticisms" soon. Or give out five stars for perfection and less with "suggestions for future improvement". And please, lets all be a tat friendlier with our valued hobbyists. They deserve it!
  10. Ah, Nicola, your "criticism" comes too early. This is a WIP render on his challenged dev Mac. But I think Michael will go the long way to make that bird just perfect. Right, Michael?
  11. Good one, thanks! Did anyone try to register and download the document? Wondering if it is free to grap?
  12. Ah, sorry, make that xFMC. Getting a bit much these days. And yes, the x737 might look a little unsophisticated compared to the 737classic. There is a big BUT. The x737 will be still flyable by nearly everybody. The 737classic (like Peters A321) will be a procedures nightmare or treat. Or take the 777. Yes, we will see which aircraft we see next. There should be a 757-200 around, too. Soon? Don't know. I think that there is not much space for a commercial aircraft in the X-Plane market when there already is a freeware product.
  13. Um, what about the x737? 3D cockpit is under way, the UFMC is a nice add-on, too. As for my virtual airline, it is the most flown airliner. What do you miss the most in the x737?
  14. Woah, thanks a bunch! I will accept PMs for more pages, too
  15. This lego brick world keeps making me dizzy. You'll never know where you are. Really, if that would matter...
  16. Oh, sh..., shhhh, shhh, my bad - this is secret. Um. Make it Edialeda. It is Edialeda! Edialeda!
  17. ISDG? Weird ICAO code that is. Clues: No. one - OZGAS. Shouldn't be Canada, Quantas hangar comfirms Sherlocks hunch. No. two - on final to Rwy 30 plus that rare round-about on the taxi way. Auckland - my favorite... Melbourne Adelaide - bingo

    YSSY Videos

I would love to watch both... Anyone got a backup at vimeo or elsewhere? (Due to copyleft infringements, the video is unavailable for internet users in Germany. Poor Google can't affort to pay licence fees to the owners of the "fair use"-used commercial music. Sorry, go watch telly.)

    YSSY Videos

Yikes - can't view em - copyright notice showing up. KILLERSARDINE, help me see your awesomeness!
  20. Kyle, great effort! Don't forget to mention that using the checklists on smartphones or tablets (or an extra tablet PC or iPad) enhances immersion. Integrating the speed calculations etc. would be a valuable 2.0 feature, too! Since I operate a virtual airline I think that checklists (plus even more comments and pictures of the damned knobs...) would greatly help to speed up learning. I am eagerly waiting for the CRJ2 checklist Cheers, Mike
  21. The CRJ is the most expensive XP aircraft I have ever owned - now I need a new iPad, too. Good one!
  22. Ah, I am in Copenhagen tomorrow. Sooo exited
  23. Chris, to make the choice easier for you: NZAA, pleeeeease
  24. Yep - caught up reading a little more on auto scenery creation. OSM does not look too good for housing info on Sydney (or Auckland), pretty much empty compared to European cities. The 3D Nokia maps where sooo amazing, because they actually showed the real thing. The company that did them was bought by Apple Computers - I bet we might see the fruits of their efforts in Fall (iOS 6 map services). But I doubt that this 3D city info will be public like the OSM databases. I dig that the interesting part of OSM2XP combined with XP10 rendering will boil down to landmarks plus enhanced facades for plausibility reasons. XP10 renderings of the Golden Gate scenery and San Francisco shows the problematic state of scenery plus thin OSM data. Well, well - much work anyways.
  25. Hey guys, might not be new for you, but this scenery made my yaw drop: It is just photo-realistic Copenhagen. After visiting Copenhagen in 3D at http://maps.nokia.com/3D/ a while ago, I thought thats a plausible world I digg for XP10. Now I see it in XP10. Woah. But I can not imagine buying every city I fly to. Isn't there a legal way to use existing 3D objects for non-commerical XP10 sceneries? Anyways, could you imagine taking a tour of the city after taking off from YSSY...? Hint, hint...
