Nooo ... it was good! Because it summarizes very good how we all want that Saab! And how we are waiting! (Although, honestly, a Saab 340 is not actually equivalent to a Porsche ).

It's just that one posting before your question it was made clear that no price information will be given at this time. I can assure you that this place here is much more open to questions, free speech and opinions than ... some other place.

Anticipated reaction of evil FSX guys - "Oh, but what should I do with a regional aircraft?" - "Nice, but it has no FMS??" - "Airplane looks ok, but nowhere near PMDG!" ... Just kidding.

I think there will at least be 2 more preview postings, one concerning the sound features.

I guess they will care about the DC-3 when the Saab 340 is released.

Well, I think that gorgeous FSX Saab you posted a picture of is better anyway! It surely has different wine bottles.

Don't worry -- they will release most of the plane this week, but the important patch for wine bottle labels will take until next week.

But you have forgotten the most important thing! The wine served to the passengers! There absolutely MUST be the option to choose wine sort depending on where you fly! In a French livery, I want to drink Bordeaux, in a German livery I want to drink Saale-Unstrut Dornfelder (or, alternatively, beer, but then the flight attendant should give me a really good excuse). Of course the label of each bottle has to be modelled very detailed, the font has to be very crisp. Otherwise, I won't buy this ****

What do you mean by that? Which fonts did you install there? Depending on your other settings, HDR is no problem. I use HDR with a very old GT530 chip, which is some kind of mobile chip, BUT I have NO anti aliasing (I switch it on only for screenshots), and also NO shadows. On the other hand, I have extrem texture resolution.

Okay, so as no answer maybe means no news, I'll start to try making a livery while ignoring the tail number coordination stuff mentioned above.

X-Plane EFIS displays are often a bit hard to read on high screen resolutions, because the displays have very low resolutions. A real G1000 has 1024x768 resolution per display, while the Corvalis' G1000 has 480x365 pixel resolution (which you can measure by making a screenshot of the 2D panel and opening it in a graphics editor). With your screen resolution, the displays use a very small area and of course are hard to read then. I can say that in 1920x1080 resolution, the 2D cockpit works very fine -- both displays next to each other, and both quite readable, but the resolution should not be higher. In the 3D view, readibility of displays in X-Plane is often disturbed by anti aliasing, and it is worse if you are in HDR mode. You then need to decrease your FOV to come nearer to the displays, but of course this limits overall visibility. Regarding the framerate, this plane is from 2010 and back then some techniques for frame rate improvements where not yet available. Also, the topography view of the MFD may have a frame rate impact (for me, in 3D cockpit, the topo view decreases frame rate by 10 FPS). In the end, you need to experiment a bit and find a compromise that works for you. I would suggest switching anti aliasing off, both for improving frame rate and for increasing readability of the displays.

Well, OSM coverage is getting better and better, and as the SimHeaven (and ZonePhoto) orthophotos have all been created using that Google converter tool, it should theoretically not be a problem to have this on many other places, too. It's just that somebody does it -- and pays for the server space and traffic!

Stephane Buon has released a small patch to fix the SASL errors: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=70172&page=2#entry761741 Just download the .zip file there and replace the “Custom Avionics” folder. Will also be included in the 1st official update.
