  1. Any other firm selling this yet (Apart from The org.) as Carenado only deal with Credit Cards??? & I don't deal with the Org.
  2. A plane that can be flown without pilots is being tested out in preparation for its maiden flight in shared UK airspace later this year. The plane, a BAE Systems Jetstream aircraft - The Flying Test Bed - is being put through its paces in a series of at least 20 flights over the Irish Sea and through UK airspace. Although it will be pilot-free during the tests, there will be people on board able to take the controls if the need arises. The aim of the trials is to demonstrate to regulators such as the Civil Air Authority and air traffic control that such aircraft, known as Uninhabited Air Vehicles, will be able to be used safely in UK airspace. The tests are part of a long-term research project called Astraea - a name which stands for Autonomous Systems Technology Related Airborne Evaluation & Assessment. This month's trials will include "the world's first use of autonomous, vision-based weather-avoidance routing and the first UK surrogate flight of a fully functional visual sense-and-avoid system which includes collision avoidance tests using a second aircraft", a statement from Astraea explains. The man responsible for the £62m project is Lambert Dopping-Hepenstal, BAE Systems' engineering director. He says there is potentially a large market for civil unmanned aircraft able to undertake tasks that are either too dull or too dangerous on which to risk lives .http://uk.news.yahoo.com/plane-without-pilot-trial-over-uk-114122038.html
  3. For being an all-round tosser, I call it The Taureau. "Hell knows no fury like that of a Womans scorn
  4. Took the kids to the River Blackwater Estuary on the Essex Coast UK today for a splash about. We were admiring a sombre looking Old Thames Sailing Barge some quarter mile away with a full set of brown sails making its way upstream when an equally sombre very dark DC-3 flew over it some 500 feet up---& my Poxy Camera was in the car!!!! C'est la Vie--she was a beaute and the kids recognised her immediately from the LES Douglas they've watched me fly so often in the lounge--and the engines purr was spot on.
  5. My last comment 'Off Topic' as it is--The Org. is a very informative site--so is this one--sell me a bad Carrot and I'm happy to shop elsewhere--no big deal Steve--I'm a Wannabe-- Too'oldt'be--not a Pilot. Cheers pal.
  6. No I was not aware of the support forum for the Carenado/I am now-- However as a matter of principle I no longer follow the Org. forums (As informative as they are) as I do not support Nicolas's & certain Moderators Attitude problems. I did visit Carenado's site when I first bought the plane only to be informed at that time that the issue was temporarily closed. I ALWAYS read ALL the information that comes with ANY product I buy--I was advised to do this as an apprentice many, many years ago and it has been invaluable advice. I reiterate my view that when I buy an Aircraft in particular from the reputable well established companies as I do, the Planes should have been fully tested before they are put on the market. OK unforseeable minor glitches can be excused but the issues we are discussing here are well documentated and many were apparent way back in v9 and most still have to be resolved not endlessly debated. As mentioned I found my own solution to the majority of the current conflict issues and appreciate the attentive help I have received from Cameron-Jason- & basically the many annonymous 'Joebloggs' charactors that put their minds into solving the issues on their own backs. However what is it that makes so many producers for the Flight Sim. markets think that X-Plane Airspace is a 'Test Place' for their products? Every time I buy a plane now I put it into the test hanger--why should I? Practically every other product on the planet goes through intensive pre sales testing & as often as not they exist in a far more diverse and less stable or manageable environment than the relatively coveted X-Plane program. In reality I should not be endlessly scouring Forums for solutions to issues & conflicts the majority of which could and should have been dealt with before the developers marketed their products-- "The next departure at runway 3 is the non stop flight to the Guinea Pig Market--Please fasten your seatbelts--more often than not it can be a turbulent flight"
  7. I had my conflicts with Gizmo, now with SASL & although Cameron & Jason have bent over backwards to help and fathom it all (Can't say the same for Carenado though) I'm shunting between installs to fly specific planes, a process which basically I should not be entertaining. Sadly my most favorite planes to fly are deeply involved in the various conflicts. We should not have to leapfrog around installs, take note of this-of that- or the other. When we want to fly a purchased plane in X-Plane (Not a cheap platform we have purchased) any add ons ect. that any plane producer requires should run for the duration of the flight of that aircraft and remove itself afterwards leaving the field 'Litter free' for the next team--That after all is Cricket!!
  8. Sorry Guy's should have included it yesterday but have mentioned it elsewhere. The Carenado Seneca's problems (issue/issues above posting) are not all Gizzmo related as I have just been reminded. I opened the Seneca in a Gizmo free install and got the fps fluctuations as usual (All monitors showing no overloads or problems anywhere) and once again I'm getting the freezinng of X-Plane if I try to close down the program or change over to another plane. This has been a greater problem than anything Gizmo related since day one with this otherwise great little plane.
  9. Camerons advice is good. He worked hard sorting through the conflicts I had with Jasons Cirrus & a couple of his, the Corvalis to name one--the double install was the only way out apart from plane switching & restarts which is more of a hassle. I bought the Seneca last week and not the identical but similar issue/issues ensued. Gizmo most certainly conflicts with SASL (Or better to say--as with Jasons Cirrus[which seems to be plugin free]--- THE INTERNALS conflict with each other). Turning off Gizmo via Addon Manager was suggested but I found it did not work. The double install is no big deal if you have the space--I have three-- one I keep Virgin to check everything in a clinical environment. (I noticed Carenado actually suggest this Virgin install method themselves when I visited their site about the Seneca) It all needs to be looked at seriously by all the Plane Makers & be sorted--everything should ideally run on one install--and with many other Companies suddenly taking an interest in producing for X-Plane things could get worse. As a footnote:-- I have found the Gizmo conflict only affects one of Jasons C74's planes--(the Cirrus SR2) and one of Carenado's-- (The Seneca)--and I have nearly the whole collection of each (Most of Camerons too as it happens but have only had conflicts withe the Corvallis TT (Worst), the Sequoia, DC-3 and Marquis. They are all on a seperate install--all the rest seem to share the same hanger well
  10. Cheers all. Had already heard that it was not v10 perfect but bought it knowing it would be sorted. It's definitely not the Fanliner--that was opened up last of all just as a comparison check against the resource usage--she eats so little juice & runs at around 85-95fps. The Gizmo business cannot be the problem as one of those Logs is from a Gizmo free install--it's just not there nor are any of Camerons planes that depend on it. Its a new plane and a new issue--reporting it will get people onto it like you guys are and thanks. Will try the route from Carenado's posting when I get back today-thanks all. Nah the Mercurochrome's out Eagle--my boy swears he's just seen a squirrel legging it across the garden with my nuts!!
  11. Sure Steve gladly. The logs refer to x2 seperate installations of X-Plane on this same computer--one has Gizzmo--the other not. (I've had conflicts with Gizzmo but never concerning Carenados planes--in fact this is the first time I've had any sign of a problem with any of them) The problems/oddities were the same on both installs. The Org's out I'm afraid--like so many others I dared have an opinion-thus upset God- thus Castration was inevitable-Ouch!! (My Vet say's they'll grow back with a good watering of 'Fisons Evergreen 80' though!!) Cheers Steven. Log.txt Log.txt
  12. BUGS?? This beautiful plane seems to be eating up the fps when the GPU the -x8core CPU and memory are all doing fine? Closing her down is causing X-Plane to freeze and the only way out seems to be via the Task manager. Never experienced this with any other plane from any source including Carenado of which I have the entire collection to date. (Strangely enough the Bonanza v35 is hitting the resources harder but holding high fps and never freezes on closure?) Anyone else finding problems with her? Cheers
  13. Nice one Cameron--downloading now--forgot I had an account with them--Cheers Mate
  14. Thanks Steve but sadly Carenado is one of those few companies still around that ONLY accept credit card payments. Like a lot of people I gave up credit cards a long while back prefering cash by Paypal or Bank debits--Very efficient & no greedy middle man. Never use Nicolas's site @ the org anymore--the BGB is just too out of order. Aerosoft will have it soon once the bugs are cleaned so they say--looking forward to it thy're well neat planes.
  15. Well tasty mate-neat work-waiting to see it on offer by anyone other than Nicolas's mob.
  16. Basically its just a matter of choice & I 'never' fly the big Airliners so never come across the type of problems you may. I can set up all my panels FMS etc. from the pilots seat/position in 3D and don't even need to jump into 2D to call up the false FMS panel on the Corvaliss TT--the one between the seats is fine. I use the Saitek X52 which I've been very happy with it but for reality's sake thats going to have to be changed for a Yoke as the Throttle comes to fit the left hand (No option) and I would need to sit in the co-pilots seat to use it realistically (And for some reason I just cannot get around using a Joystick with my left hand??) Cheers Mac.
  17. Try saying "Please-please-pretty please to Cameron!!" Worked a treat for me
  18. I think you might have started off simming in 2D as most of us had too because the (Obviously) more natural & now practically standard 3D was not available Kaphias -however things have improved radically. Your 'instead of all the 3D cockpits we see now that are completely unrealistic?' goes to prove that point--2D cockpits cannot be more realistic as in reality they do not exist--never did-never will. What you are talking about is 2D representations of 3D objects. Unlike your 'plan' like 2D panels a simple flat photo of the Himalayas is 2D but semi rendered 3D in our brains because of something your panels lack-- perspective, the same can be said for so called 3D screens. Illusion. Trakir results in a 2D image but the 3rd. dimension is seemingly brought into the visual equation by giving the impression of being able to 'walk down/into/around the missing third dimension of depth' And it works well and is VERY realistic once you get used to it. Albeit the motions are lesser you 'physically' look up to your overhead switches, left, right, down and even under and behind with Trakir & complete ALL your functions in the cockpit using the mouse/or mice (x2) as fingers/hands (Using Keyboards or Joystick switches/buttons or related external functions/commands is as realistic as your 2D panels unless they are actually represented on the plane you are flying) --you can only get more realistic than that by buying a Sim pit or plane.
  19. Something I want in v10? How about a 2D cockpit in every plane, instead of all the 3D cockpits we see now that are completely unrealistic? Now this one I cannot get my head around Kaphias---Unrealistc?- So you live work and walk in a 2D world? Real pilots fly 2D Cockpits. And I'm not going to ask you to explain 2D sex ( But post some screenshots anyway) What you desperately need is a Trakir5 mate.
  20. OK if you could have something you really wanted in v10 what would you go for?. Mine at present would be a working Garmin GPS and a really decent map (Something like the Google flight planner Map but interactive) instead of the Tatt we've got!
  21. And here she is with 100% cloud coverage with 'Real Time Weather' running and Cloud coverage in options set at 130%--gotta be female--has to shine through everything and be noticed whatever!! She often rises through mountains, landscapes and from under the sea. Turning the Date and time to night, then turning it back again sometimes gets rid of it.
  22. Just flown around & landed at EGCC a few times but did not find any particular fps issues with the airport or locality on my machine. The suggestions already given are sound but I would like to suggest another that has saved me a lot of tears and heartache I have always liked to have more than one installation of X-Plane on my computer at the same time. (For my own reasons I actually have three but two's fine) One I use as I assume we all do and another I keep pretty much as a Virgin install which I use to try/test new stuff out on knowing nothing else can conflict. If you have the space you should give it a try. Just download and install the latest version & beta--and leave it clean--ensure both installs are always of the identical release/beta. I have been able to resolve many issues this way including a bad fps issue similar to yours recently. When a problem such as yours arose, by opening & simply copying the plane across temporarily to the clinical install & flying it in 'Mirrored' settings/locality, it instantly proved it was not a computer issue--nor an issue with the plane or locality but as it turned out a seperate conflict which I soon sorted by illimination (And many others using this technique) By later returning the install to it's clean state (& keeping the two updated) it's always the ready detective.
