Sorry i meant north of N70 and not 60 of course. Ok so it has to do with the projection systems, yes, this is understandable now... In fact X-Plane should be able to deal with the polar-projection-grid to show it at the right place, perhaps this will be once possible, would be nice ;-)

OK, thanks for that Gregory!

Thanks Cameron! I really appreciate this. The Saab is absolutely amazing and the FPS-impact was the only reason why i had problems with it (as you know). So I am really looking forward to the V1.1!

I am not sure i understood...i have the same blackout-problem after each one of my landings. I use the reverser but not immediately the wheel-brakes. During my last flight i tried to push the engine-power very "gentle" from reverser to normal position but i had a blackout as well. Do we really have to handle it like "t5e" explained above? That means: having to live wit the blackout and then resetting the GEN to have electricity again? Hm...i am not sure. Can you please once again explain exactly how to avoid the blackout?

Hi altpilotx Since you know a lot about scenery and textures, do you think it would be possible in future to have a complete world-coverage of "scenerys", that means also for areas north of N60 and around the Northpol? It hasn't to be necessary high-resolution, but it would be very cool having scenerys when flying there (for example for flights beetween Anchorage and Europe). Thanks and cheers F.

I like the 737-NG as well very much but it looks like good aircrafts are more for nostalgy-people (B727, Saab340, soon 733 and 757...). Whatever the 733 is very nice too. There is in fact the x737 who will soon be out with a 3d-cockpit, even it isn't of course of same quality as this one. But as a freeware i am sure the next version of the x737 will be very good. And as Jan said, i think that the B733 is a very good combination of both worlds: the old and the modern one. So i am sure it will be very interesting to handle & fly. In the same category of old/modern i would also see the A310 for example (if someone is interested in doing it.. ).

Thanks, that was it! Everything fine now.

Hi I refer to page 202 of the system-manual "When an NDB is tuned in the ADF, this pointer indicates, in magnetic heading, where the NDB station is on the ground." Unfortunately i can't make it work. I have set the NDB frequeny (320.0) in the ADF. But no pointer was showing it, even when flying only a few miles from it. I even set both ADF to the same frequency and changed of course the VOR/ADF-rose to ADF: nothing happens. The NDB was visible on the high-enroute map, so that it should be available in the XP-database. I also tried other ones. No one has worked. Thanks and cheers F.

PMDG officially developing for X-Plane
frankbyte replied to AnonymousUser68's topic in General Discussion
Exactly ;-) What i am searching for is quite simple: an aircraft like the NGX 737 from PMDG. So i really hope the IXEG 737 and the B757 from FF will soon come out...the x737 had indeed a nice system-depth 2 or 3 years ago. But now it really should be improved, since the standards had become much more higher now. But i know that they are working on it. So there is one more reason for me to hope about a release of it soon;-) I wish you nice flights as well ;-) F. -
PMDG officially developing for X-Plane

Yes you're right, the ATR72-500 can't be called excellent. But i was just mentionning it, since you mentionned the x737 as well (which even hasn't any 3d-cockpit yet). Just a remark about Carenda who wants to satisfy the large public audience: i think there is nothing wrong about it, since more and more users will come from the FSX-world and are used to fly such large-public machines. -
PMDG officially developing for X-Plane
frankbyte replied to AnonymousUser68's topic in General Discussion
Yes it's just a matter of personal choice i guess. I for example have never understood the fascination of flying old fashioned aircrafts that aren't used nowadays anymore. With an exception made to the Concorde, just because it's a fascinating aircraft! I can easily confirm that FSX would have been my ideal simulator, since it is more oriented airliners than X-Plane. But the reason i've never tried it is simple: i never had any Windows-PC and prefered OSX. That's why i had no choice and had to accomodate with X-Plane. But since more and more FSX-user makes the transition, i think that the need of good standard airliners is not as small as you think. The x737 for example has no 3D cockpit yet. And yes there is an excellent 733 in developpment, but we are still waiting for it. And i like the Q400 as well! It's a modern aircraft and has an excellent performance. I really love it! But i dont' really see any difference beetween the way we fly a Q400 or a A320. Both are flying at >FL240 and follows a flightpath. For me the fascination of aviation is to plan a full flight like real pilots of big carriers. I want to plan the optimal fuel, fly with real winds aloft and have live-traffic (IVAO or VATSIM). And to admire the world from a high altitude. I could once show you the screenshots i made during a flight over Greenland with the B777. The ice-covered mountains under north-lights are just amazing! So thats what i like in the simulation. I am note interested about doing "acrobaties" for example. Or it can only be funny a few minutes ;-) But going back to turboprops: i agree with you and i like them as well. But please modern ones like the Q400 ;-) And you forgot that it exists a good ATR 72-500 and an excellent J32. And in the category small aircrafts you can choose beetwen seven or 8 good modeled Carenado's. So, once again: i would prefer something like a good A330 or A340 ;-) -

Please no older turboprop again! What we need are good airliners, as proposed above (A340 would be very appreciated or an A330-300!). But i think airliners should be the speciality of PMDG, so i hope we will have a nice surprise ;-) -
Talking about complexity, in my opinion we have enough possibilities to "steer" the way we want to have it. The first one (that i am always using) is to switch off the "failures" in X-plane itself. I think it would be the failures who demand a lot of Know-How that perhaps a lot uf us dont have and don't want to invest in. And i think we can't complain about the fact that we can have the failures if we want. Of course a brand new beginner in the sim will anyway be overstrained by a complex machine, even without failures. But we have to be fair enough and say that most of us aren't beginners (i guess the most new users come from the FSX and aren't beginners). And i must say that most of the time, the developers made a big effort to help us dealing with the complexity (like the Auto-Start-function of the newest Saab or the checklists where we can be shown automatically where the mentionned commands are). Also there are some short manuals that help us to make our first flight pretty quickly without having to study each button. For me such things are greatly appreciated and should be enough for most of us.

No, it was Kris, just read about it. Whatever i agree that we close this discussion, since such disussions are too sensitive as we can see.
-
And you are just a bit naive if you think that a simulation can be perfect ;-)
-
I must accept this, since it is the decision of developers the way the wanted it. No discussion about if i am wrong or right. I just hope that the B733 won't have the same huge impact on the HDR-engine as the Saab, since HDR is one of the main reasons to fly XP for me and many others ;-)
-
Of course, i know ;-) I was just trying to give a counter-example. But releasing (if this is technically possible) a pre-version will be even better imho, since only the mass of users can report about problems with their individual hardware and i guess developers can't find out everything by themselves, even with a lot of tests.
-
That's true. But on the other side the example of the B777 who has been promised years ago from XP-Jets and never came out has partially ruined their reputation (not here in this forum but i read a lot about it in other forums). So that could be the danger on the other side...
-
Of course. But guys, don't forget that perfection doesn't exist in the sim, even the PMDG 777 isn't perfect. And Cameron, wont like me (once again), but even the Saab isn't perfect. So just relax, don't take this too serious and try to have fun or try to give us some fun ;-) My guess is that people are supporting the "perfect"-strategiy just because they haven't any choice. Let's start a thread asking people if the would like a pre-version, flying it and helping improving it before a new release came out. You will be wondering...but i admit that i can't judge about what this would mean on the technical side. Once again: the example of Jar's A320 shows me and him that this is very appreciated as well ;-) Just my 2 cents..
-
Cameron, you are talking form the developpper-side. And i was trying to talk from the user-side, since i am very active in a lot of forums. And believe me, people become slowly very annoyed about the situation that nothing happens since months (talking about heavies) and some users would already wanted to switch to FSX if this sim had any future. So i was just sharing this.
-
Hi Tom I dont entirely agree. Look at JAR's very good A320. It isn't perfect and is beeing improved with the help of users. Now the latest version is already 1.5 and it becomes better and better. And i really enjoy flying it, even it isn't perfect. Is Jar's reputation really that bad? Thats my opinion but i think it brings more to the XP-community than trying to have the perfection at the first try.
-
Yeah...and the worst is that the XP-community REALLY is missing a new "heavy" like this, during PMDG releases an excellent 777. Why isn't it possible to just release it and let us participe in some first bugfixes, so that we at least can have some fun now and not just in years :-( Please, please please.....
-
OK, i can understand this. That was first also what i was thinking about.
-
I made another observation by using HDR. Switching beetween 2xHDR and 4xHDR only drops the fps by 1 or 2 frames. Normally the fps drops about 10-15 frames. Strange, isn't it?
-
Oh i missed that one! That wasn't a bad question at all! I was trying to press on the red button on the yoke to engage the A/P...but just saw right now that this one's only for disconnecting it!
