  1. Wait....what? So this is from the dad who said "You're wasting so much of your time. I can't believe it" and you complained he wasn't supportive of your X-Plane habit? Guess good ol' dad is coming through with some gear. Hmmmmmm........ Ah, yes.....I remember being a teenager........
  2. Try a Google search for C-46 Commando cockpit photographs. Came up with a bunch of pics. Not sure how usable they are, but it's a start.
  3. First of all, when all else fails, RTFM. Actually, you should ALWAYS read the manual before you start posting questions that are easily answered in the documentation: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xhsi/index.php?title=Main_Page#User.27s_manual Each instrument window is resizable. Just click and drag on the lower right corner of each window and size it however you want. But as I said, read the manual and you just might learn all kinds of nifty things about this amazing plugin/app.
  4. Yes. XHSI has it's own forum at the org. Here's a link to the thread addressing 64 bit: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=63265&page=1
  5. Google search XHSI and you would have come up with this link right at the top: http://xhsi.sourceforge.net
  6. If this was a new purchase I suggest contacting the vendor. It certainly sounds like a defective unit. That's why these things have warranties.
  7. The switches on the throttle quadrants are easily assigned in the Joystick and Equipment menu, but the switches on the TPM don't function the same....at least not on a Mac. Not sure how they work on a PC. The TPM Module does work right out of the box. Plug and play. The throttle, prop and mixture controls work perfectly and they really enhance the single engine GA sim experience. But the switches are basically useless to me until I either figure out how to assign them or get someone else to do it for me......
  8. For one, there are only 9 switches on the TPM module. Secondly, I'm flying on a MacBook Pro and there isn't a plugin for the switches on the TPM for Mac. I know there are ways to program the switches, but I am not a programmer. I'm an end user. I can't even figure out how to use Button2DataRef plugin, even with the manual, to make my own switch assignments. One of these days I'll get it figured out or have someone build a plugin for me. Also, the Switch Panel has the landing gear lever and ignition switch.
  9. Just wanted to post an update on this and let you know I haven't forgotten about it. I've been busy unpacking, organizing, painting, hanging signs, putting up shelves and prepping the studio for our grand opening this Friday night. After 22 years in a downtown studio, we moved the business and our home to a new building about 8 miles out of town...on the road to Yellowstone Park. So, if you fly into KBZN and you want to go to Yellowstone, you can't get there without driving right past my place. So, next week I should have some time to put into this. Hopefully you've all downloaded and installed the necessary plugins. If not, you've got a couple weeks. I'll be working on the route next week and will post an advert with the details so you can mark your calendars.
  10. I totally agree we are excluding some people who fly payware exclusively...and that's okay. We have a lot of "old timers" who will never update to V10 and they are perfectly happy flying our available aircraft. I'm not saying one is right or wrong. We are a niche VA. We don't really want EVERYONE flying with us. It's definitely a limiting factor to not allow payware, but don't underestimate the appeal of aircraft you can fly without major hits to your frame rates. Most of our pilots fly payware on their time off. Many of them fly for multiple VA's. They get their payware fix when they are off duty from ANW. They fly for ANW because of the variety of things they can do and fly. From warbirds to airliners. That's our appeal, even if they are freeware.
  11. Out of respect for Erik or Patrik, I decided to start a new topic concerning why a VA may require it's pilots fly certain aircraft. First, I agree there are some amazing payware commercial aircraft available from regional jets and turboprops up to heavy metal. I understand why people love them and want to fly them. I tell our pilots to fly them all they want, but they won't get Air Northwest hours for flying non-ANW aircraft. The main reason we require our pilots to fly ANW aircraft is because our hub commanders KNOW what the numbers should be in our pilots' PIREPS. We don't use ACARS so all of our flight reports are filed manually. If the fuel numbers don't jive, we know the pilot either did not fly an ANW aircraft of they were sloppy in recording their numbers and the pilot will be questioned. Another reason is if or when there are issues with the aircraft or they need to be updated, we have our fleet director who maintains our fleet. With such a diverse fleet, it is imperative that all of our pilots are flying the same aircraft. That way we can make sure they all receive the same training on the same aircraft. It's about uniformity. There are several X-Plane based/allowed VA's available that do allow their pilots to use whatever aircraft they want. If that's your cup of tea, join one of those. I certainly understand the desire to fly more detailed, prettier planes. I love flying my Carenado's but my VA doesn't have a GA program....and doesn't allow payware aircraft. Doesn't mean I don't fly them a ton!
  12. Just realized those are X-Plane 8 planes. However, they may still work for you.
  13. Here you go: http://forums.xplanefreeware.net/files/file/53-boeing-757-200-rr-wl-white-aircraft-for-repaints/ http://forums.xplanefreeware.net/files/file/51-boeing-757-200-pw-wl-white-aircraft-for-repaints/ Hope that's what you're looking for. So you're banned from X-Plane Freeware's site, too?
  14. I'm just trying to support your decision to not allow payware. I think control over the fleet is essential.
  15. I have flown for Air Northwest Virtual Airlines for 6 years and I've owned it for the past 4 years. Air Northwest is one of the longest running VA's for X-Plane on the net today. We've got the most diverse fleet available, ranging from the 1930's to present day. We have subsidiary airlines in Alaska, the Caribbean and South America. We have Sockeye Airways that specializes in float planes. We have the Tuna Works Museum that flies rebuilt warbirds. We have over 250 aircraft to fly. You MUST fly an Air Northwest aircraft if you want Air Northwest hours. We don't allow any "outside" aircraft. How else can we maintain and support our aircraft if we don't all fly the same planes? We have agreements with all of our aircraft developers that allow us to keep them up to date and flying to specifications. If you want to fly your payware, we encourage you to do so. You just won't get any ANW hours for it. When was the last time you heard of a United Airlines pilot bringing his own plane to work? Good luck, Erik.
  16. I've been flying X-Plane only since V8. I've been involved in the X-Plane community for 7 years or so. Been a member at the org since November 2006. For what it's worth, it was probably 8 months before I even realized there was a forum at the org. Maybe the reason I don't understand the complaints here is because I don't get too involved over there. Like Tom says, I just use it to get free stuff and the occasional purchase. I leave the forums alone, other than the Carenado support thread. I rarely say anything in the shout box. When I do, it's usually something silly or random or a comment to Jack, Dan or Joe. Maybe the secret to happiness is laying low at the org and cutting loose over here. Hmmmmm......
  17. I apologize for my cryptic response. I didn't notice your post was in the Jetstream support thread and I simply responded to the AirTrack question. I use AirTrack all the time, but I don't have the Jetstream. I just assumed that AirTrack worked with all planes in X-Plane because it works with all the aircraft I own.
  18. Brilliant, Tom. Well said! Thoughtful and respectful.
  19. Still, that's nearly 4500. I haven't taken the time to count the actual number of individual posters who have reported their trials and tribulations with the org in the X-Pilot forums (I guesstimate somewhere around a dozen) but let's go ahead and say two dozen. That's still about .005% (half a percent) that have reported problems. To suggest that the org is ultimately going to implode because of poor customer service is not plausible. I don't agree with the org management doing some of the things that have been reported . Nicolas could certainly use some people skills training and a couple of the mods there could use a few lessons in manners, but I don't see the org going away any time soon. Even with all their warts, the org provides a useful resource. X-Pilot is different. I won't quantify the difference by saying "better," but it is a different experience here. Much closer interaction with developers and, aside from the org bashers, a nice place to visit. For the most part, a more helpful place.
  20. Doubtful. It's a numbers game. A dozen or so disgruntled ex-members vs. 224,445 current members......
  21. I've been on and off the org all evening and haven't noticed any issues. Just downloaded a scenery file to check and there were no issues.
