  1. Glad it works for you now! Just curious, what was the problem?
  2. STMA has released their Sherpa K650T Turboprop. She's a sweet STOL bird for all you guys who like to fly the bush. This STMA's last V9.7 new release. She's V10 and V9.7 compatible, but any new development will be V10 only. Check her out: http://www.shadetreemicro.com/aircraft/sherpa/sherpa.shtml or http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=473
  3. Just tried out the freeware V8 scenery in V10.21r2 and it shows up just fine. Keep in mind I have my rendering options turned way down so I'm sure the scenery looks better than how it shows in my screenshots. As you can see in these screenies, the terminals and other buildings show up. Not sure why you're only seeing aircraft. Here's the link to the scenery I downloaded yesterday: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=5516
  4. Have you tried the V8 scenery? Might be better than nothing. Obviously, Aerosoft has an amazing (somewhat spendy) payware version.
  5. As I recall, Riviere's DHC8 series (100, 300 and 400) were some pretty sweet freeware planes. You can download the 400 at the first link, but I have included my search link where you can grab the 100 and 300 variations, as well as some liveries: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=6482 http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?s=a2192b3cd94de8b1e8c04b86e11cac07&app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1 They are all V9.7 compatible.
  6. I'm not sure what you're asking. What do you mean by "how is the turbo modeled?" I've flown her at 16,000 and she's quite comfortable there. I' haven't taken her up any higher yet. Published service ceiling is 27,000 and the performance charts that come with the Carenado model go up to cruise level of 24,000. I'll take her up there and let you know how it goes.
  7. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This makes me a very happy man!!! I still do most of my flying in 9.7 even though I have V10 and keep it updated. The changes to the views controls still irritates and frustrates me to no end. 9.7 for me is still a much more pleasing experience.
  8. That's purty!! Reallllly purty!! Almost makes me want to learn to fly helos!
  9. I have to admit I haven't flown the Baron much, but I'll see what I can find out about the turn coordinator.
  10. By suggesting someone else might think I have ulterior motives is pretty much the same as saying it yourself. By suggesting I may have ulterior motives you are planting a seed of doubt and casting my posting in a negative light and questioning my integrity. I apologize if my words seem defensive. That's not my intention. I only want to assert that I have not been nor am I being compensated for anything I do or have done for Carenado. I certainly see your point, but I would hope people would not be so judgmental when reading my posts. I don't think they are over the top or in any way misleading. In fact, I started posting about Carenado products long before I got to test one. Whether or not I continue to do testing for them I will continue to post my thoughts and impressions about their products. I only hope the community will appreciate my thoughts and take them for what they are intended. If they misconstrue them or interpret them in a way they weren't intended, then that's their problem, not mine. Obviously I would never comment on a product before it was released, but afterwards I don't think it's inappropriate for me to comment on it. To say I should not would be the same as telling you not to comment on or promote your MU-2 update. Rick, I noticed the same thing on the Centurion and I've mentioned it to Carenado. I'm not sure why it does it. I'll explore that issue further and let you know what I find.
  11. I can assert this, Tom, that I have not been given, nor do I expect any compensation from Carenado in any way, shape or form. I have not received any products for free. As I stated before, I have paid for every single Carenado/Alabeo product for X-Plane and I own them all. I say what I say about their products because I believe in them, whether or not I'm a beta tester and I pay for them because I think they are worth the price. As for my testing, I fly the planes mostly in V9.7, but I do check them in V10 as well. My perspective is as an end user, not a code wrangler. I report my impressions and any glitches in systems I may find. I can't replicate every single issue that comes up because I only test on one Mac. I miss some things and apparently so do the other beta testers. I have no idea who or how many beta testers there are. I'm certainly not the only one doing beta testing. As for the EFD issues reported, I did not have those issues. There were other issues that I found and they were fixed before release. Then again, I'm not the one who flew it in 64 bit. Admittedly, I will be more diligent in testing in V10 to help prevent issues we've seen in the A36. Even so, those issues aren't solely a problem for Carenado, but more so Laminar's. I don't think any comments I have made about any Carenado have ever misled anyone or misrepresented the products in any way. I've never said they would do something they wouldn't or couldn't do and I'm not saying they are something that they are not. I have no "ulterior motive" with my posts, Tom. I receive NOTHING for my opinions or my testing. What possible ulterior motive could I have? I believe in their products and I do what I can to support them only because I like them. For what it's worth, I do the same for Jason Chandler's products. Over the years I have touted his stuff and even purchased them for friends as gifts. I've even promoted X-Aviation products in forums and by painting liveries for them. Your MU-2 was the first payware product I ever purchased and I can't tell you how many times I have recommended it to those who have asked. (I'm still really disappointed the update will be V10 only even though you promised an update long before V10 was released.) So tell me what possible ulterior motive could I have? I have no evil intentions, Tom. You're being silly trying to cast a dark shadow on my posts.
  12. Since the C182 isn't available for X-Plane I can't offer a comparison. I can say that each new Carenado I have flown has something new added. It may be insignificant to some customers, but the cockpit lighting in the Centurion is pretty cool. There's some cool backlighting that we haven't seen before and the night lighting is better than previous planes. I suppose it's little things like those that get me excited.
  13. I don't know what relevance it has, but yes, I do some beta testing for Dan. With that said, I can say that I have paid full retail for every single Carenado/Alabeo product I own. I've done beta testing for a few other developers as well, both payware and freeware. I'm right there with you, Femke. Even so, there have always been recalls and updates, especially with computers and software. There are so many variables to consider when creating software products that I can imagine it nearly impossible to plan for every single end user scenario. Somewhere someone is going to have the "perfect storm" of circumstances that even the most careful and thorough of developers couldn't have anticipated the issue. I still think we can do a better job catching the glitches before a product is shipped, but sometimes things just get overlooked in the process. Each time a new product comes out and somebody catches something that we miss I am bit embarrassed and I learn a little bit more and I start looking harder at the upcoming products. Perfection is still the goal.
  14. I have a habit of watching the Carenado website when a release is imminent. When it showed up this afternoon in their fleet, I decided to take some time off this afternoon and do some flying around Washington state to check out some of the freeware scenery that's recently been posted. Thoroughly enjoyed the plane so I thought I'd share my excitement over the release.
  15. You're absolutely right. I can attest to the fact that there is a fair amount of testing, but there are so many things to be checked that some of those little things (and some not so little things) get overlooked. But I don't think there's been a payware product from ANY developer released over the past two years that hasn't had glitches upon release that required some sort of patch or work around. Even this forum is full of threads seeking help with issues with various payware. That doesn't relieve Carenado, or any other developer, from the responsibility to try to put out a perfect product. That is the goal and some day it will be achieved. Short answer, no. There is a lot of work and testing done with each of Carenado's aircraft. That being said, Carenado's timeline for bringing their planes to X-Plane is an unprecedented feat. Nobody has ever attempted to bring so many aircraft to X-Plane in such a short time. It's a lot of work to get done with very short deadlines. There's bound to be things that get missed. The good thing, as you've mentioned, is that Carenado is quick to recognize the issues and resolve them. I agree, but until V10 is FINAL FINAL, there are bound to be things pop up without warning to developers. From one iteration to the next, X-Plane can break what the developers' thought was fixed. It's a little unfair to put all the blame on the developer when a lot of the issue is created by Laminar and the whole beta and release candidate process. Isn't this the eternal question we ask about X-Plane itself? I think if we take a look at just about any product in the world today, there are thousands of examples of issues the manufacturer missed that were later discovered by consumers. Automobiles, computers, cameras, baby strollers, etc, etc. I'm grateful for all the work done by all X-Plane developers. Over the past couple of years I have become more aware of the inner workings of X-Plane and the X-Plane community and I have been given some insight into all the work that goes into these products. I think we have a tendency to hold these guys to fairly high standards and when a product comes out with a wart or two we are not very kind or patient about it. Not only do we want "it" NOW, we want "it" PERFECT! As long as developers continue to provide good customer service and are responsive to the issues, I think we should be a little more forgiving of a few oversights, while encouraging them to be more diligent in their quality control.
  16. I was merely suggesting that Carenado customers would get faster support through more appropriate channels where their customer service people hang out and provide timely help and support. I agree there are numerous forums that are great resources for help and general information and commiseration, but when the question is so specific to a particular product, don't you think it would be more appropriate and efficient to contact the developer through established lines of communication? That seems much more effective to me. I find it interesting you selectively refuse to give support to the CRJ if it was purchased at the org and you tell those customers to get help over there, and yet you are suggesting this is a good place to get support for Carenado products? Is that some sort of double standard?
  17. Been flying this one a bit and she's a beauty! If you've been waiting for another complex GA aircraft, this one will get you going! The cockpit lighting is a beautiful thing to behold.
  18. Before you make comments like this it would behoove you to know the source of the problem. It's not a Carenado problem as Mario mentioned. Your snide comment does nothing to help solve the issue. Again, if you're having problems with a Carenado product, why in the world would you look for a solution here? Click on the links I've provided above and you will surely get the answers and support you need.
  19. This is not the best place to post support questions on Carenado products. I wish I could tell you what is causing this problem, but I can't even begin without your log.txt. You should post this issue and your log.txt here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showforum=106 and here: https://carenado.zendesk.com/home Check the knowledge base at Carenado's site and if you can't find the answer, post a question. If you can't post at the org and you need Dan's contact information, I can provide that to you by PM.
  20. Compared to the real world photos it looks pretty dang close. I think it's just the contrast between the yellow on the vertical stabilizer and the red of the flag that makes it look a little out of place, but if you compare the pics to the livery, it looks pretty spot on to me.
  21. I flew V9.7 on a Mac Mini for over a year and it worked perfectly with reasonable frame rates and rendering options. My Mini is 3 years old now and didn't do well with V10 when it first came out. I would think a brand new Mini with ram maxed would do a pretty good job.
  22. Getting involved with a virtual airline with a student pilot program is a good idea. Some VA's have instructors and mentors who can help you with nearly all aspects of X-Plane. With that said, don't expect to be able to run before you can walk. There is a lot to learn if you are interested in creating a "realistic" experience. Check out http://www.airnorthwest.org . I know they have a student pilot program with the most diverse fleet around. Pardon the shameless plug!
  23. If we can't have it yet, at least we can watch it.
  24. If you've had a hankering to do some crop dusting, here's your chance! I just got the Alabeo Cessna C188 AGTruck and she's a hoot! The spray effects are crazy cool and she's fun to fly. Fly her with or without spray equipment. http://www.alabeo.com/index.php?accion=product&correl=85
  25. Check your airspeed. If you are going too fast, the plane will continue to climb. You should maintain a speed of at least 10 KIAS below max speed for the AP to lock onto altitude. This may not be your problem, but give it a try.
