I did not even think about liveries, and it makes complete sense. See, knowledge defeats ignorance :

Hi everyone This is the silliest thread Ive ever created, but bare with me. Im interested in buying the Falco for instance, because it has excellent reviews, great reputation, and x-scenery knows what they are doing. I already have the Corvalis, and I love it, everything looks and feels great! Now the issue. The filesize of the falco is less than 20MB, while the Corvalis is around 190MB This to me raises an alarm... what's missing? Why is the falco so small? Something had to be stripped or left out, or the other way around... The corvalis is overblown and overloaded? Could someone explain this to me, as it's is flashing red lights preventing me from purchasing the Falco at the moment, and also, understanding creates normality Rgds M

Thanks Jim I understand. Will have to start using the gps/fms for more basic routes then. Thanks Marlon

I must agree with the O.P Great! People forget what flying is about when they spend their lives at FL340 all the time. The TT is just amazing. Thanks for it.

Hello TT pilots Thanks to JGX for making an AWESOME aircraft! It turned out to be a gift and now it's my main plane! Anyway, I can't info on this and I did search (maybe not correctly)... I need to use ADF, as many waypoints on our tours are NDB's. I can't find the place to do it, does the plane have adf? If it does not, is this a real world Corvalis limitation, or anything I can do to work around it? Im confused, if everyone on a tour is turning to for instance SWV, where do i go? home? Have a nice weekend Marlon

Hi Lukasz No I think you are right I will do that too, use REX's (excellent) textures, and just sort out the weather via XSB. The beef was with sudden changes between weather stations, but it's not the end of the world. Thanks for the satisfying response +1 for you Have a good weekend people. M

ANYone with ANY advice? Even if the rex guys don't respond (here or on their forums), I am sure someone must have found a way to make weather work? The whole thing just doesn't make sense. For rex to even update weather, it has to be aware of where you are flying, how the heck does that even work? *sigh* :-[ Thanks. Marlon

Hi Cameron Very valid point, but I did the sp updates on the day of installation, and seems there hasn't been any new ones, so I am at latest. From my original post, did I understand correctly how REX weather sync works? 1. run rex, enable sync 2. set xplane download OFF, and check metar file ON I don't understand where the weather textures etc comes into play, but im sure that should work. Rex weather sync is most definitely not updating the metar.rwx file.
-
Hi I apologize If I am wrong, but I read the manual that came with REX for my X-Plane (latest) and set it up as follows: Rex running, and weather sync enabled Xplane running, DOWNLOAD WEATHER unchecked.... SCAN METAR FILE checked (and minutes is set to 5 mins). I disabled weather updates in my xsquawkbox to not get weather updates from Vatsim, and I am expecting that REX will now takeover and update the metar.rwx file, is this correct? After flying about 2 hours tonight, I noticed the weather never changed. I checked the metar file, and it's update/modification time was many hours old. What am I doing incorrectly? How do I have REX update my xplane weather periodically? Thanks in advance! Marlon

The plan sounds good indeed, and I can imagine how hard this must be for you to configure(the marketing balance). I would indeed support such a system, but don't let it bother you too much. Some of my friends, and me of course, are what you refer to as sim enthusiasts, and while we aren't really loaded with infinite heaps of cash, none of us would have a problem paying for P.E. I pay for a few services that I shouldn't even be trying to fit into my budget. So don't worry too much about that, but explore this idea further definitely! At this moment, as stated in my previous post, our(friends and my) hesistance stems mostly from the 'alienation' factor of time zones and cultural divide, and that's not your fault or problem, but something we must overcome on this side. Heck. we have been pondering flying in S.A using PE, even if there is no ATC coverage, the other advantages (fast updates, radio attenuation, etc) is worth it already. I wish you luck in this difficult time, but I think PE will make it to the top eventually. -
Just landed at FBSK, Botswana in MU2

thanks benny seems to be the best aaproach. i tried some external apps that connect to xplane but there appears to always be better solutions.

Hey everyone. well, I am posting this after a few days of thinking and cursing. It started at my friends place when we set up his projector, and trying to get cockpit instruments on a small lcd monitor. We then found out, if I read correctly, that it is impossible to have multiple displays on Xplane, and that you need to buy multiple licensed copies, or have multiple computers... To me, the above is nothing else than absurd and insane! So do I understand correctly, having multiple screens is a no no? All that I would like to achieve is to have a seperate display for instruments, on monitor 2 for instance. Failing that, I will have to buy external USB instruments or modify and use something like this: http://www.omnima.co.uk/store/catalog/Programmable-LCD-display-control-panel-version-2-p-16158.html What's your thoughts, and how do you lot do it? One monitor just does NOT cut it Marlon

Thanks Javier Will try this tonight when i get home. Thanks! Marlon

Hi I searched but couldn't find anything else on the forums. I got the latest (native) data for the JRollon CRJ. I peeked inside the zip and theres not much in the way of instructions. The instructions talk about just running the exe, and there is no executable of any sort in there. Also, the data is just two folders full of xml. What do I do with it, how do I load it? Regards Marlon
-
Glad you got it extracted, but Im sure even windows built in zip has an "extract" feature. As for the activation, perhaps use the official support channels at X-aviation or so. This is exactly what the obviously titled activation thread says http://forums.x-pilot.com/index.php?topic=2349.0 The forums might have a shorter turn around time if you are in a hurry. Don't stress too much about the activation problem, it's not too heavy and they will help you sort it out soon

I am Happy with the CRJ I don't talk. Just fly.

Well, I an only respond to this now since I just got the CRJ two days ago, and today I see the update. To me this is GREAT. Even without the update, so far, the plane performs well on my system, looks bloody nice and the detail and handling of the whole thing is great. yes, the price is a bit steep, but I don't think people realise how much effort, time, money, tears and constipation goes into creating such a remarkable model over years. The problem with the internet is that it gives everyone a voice, and people abuse that. Instead of critique, they insult, and instead of unbiased reviews, they use it as a personal platform for venting to the world about their own personal issues and frustrations. The CRJ is awesome, and I am VERY happy theres an update, and I plan to fly this baby all over the virtual world. -
I know this is an old topic, but it's the second one in which that blog is referred to with great stuff I would like to try and buy... The other one was a scenery related thing. However, on both links, I get to a point where it says I need invitiation to access it. Im mentioning this in an old thread because when you search for certain things, these threads come up quite high in the ranks. for everyones sake, does this site still exist, and how do we get invited, and how do they expect to sell anything by closing it up? cheerios M

Purchased mine last night, did a short test flight over low terrain and medium scenery and all. Didn't change any of my prefs, and noticed no framerate hit at all. I think maybe on lower end systems it might, but run the tester, on my (see sig) system, nothing changed Well optimized. I love it, it's built to perfection and the handling/performance feels great and heavy. Craftsmanship, and great tuts too. Lots of work, please support X-Aviation/JRollon if you want an aircraft of this class, it is well worth it. My only 'tickle' is sound from the outside. Spinning up the turbines feels "steppy" and doing a fly by view sounds weird. The fly by feels like an xplane shortcoming, and the steppy'ness of the throttle up may be performance (although I don't see it in the framerate or cpu usage), but these issues are really minor. If you go from twin turbine props to this, like me, it's a heckuva learning curve though

Just worked my way through this thread. I saw PilotEdge but didn't notice what it was. Coming from IVAO, this looks really refreshing, I will muster up some courage and check it out, if our timezones correlate in a way I can make it. But ja, courage, that's usually the number 1 problem for me, and most people new to networks like these, not knowing what to expect for our lowly skill levels Hope to check you out soon, and thx for keeping an update on the thread. -
super tutorials, Ive been watching a few on youtube before I knew it was you guys. Perhaps edit the first post and fix the link, or sticky a new one? It's a bit confusing, I almost couldn't find the site The narrator is quite clue'd on what he/she is talking about. It's either a young dude, or a cute chick, but I like it, helps alot. Thanks for the video tuts!

I know it's a bit old, but spent a few days 'playing around' with this one. It's stunning, if you guys keep it updated it's really almost payware like. Also, got a new recruit to xplane, thanks to this!

Waiting for things in life, is a waste. I jumped in with the same advice from other folks, I am now in the clouds, having great fun with my XP9 on IVAO/Vatsim. Its fast, works, many addons available, and when 10 comes out one day, Ill consider upgrading, and only when all my addons are compatible and my hardware doesn't need an upgrade (I don't believe in hardware needing upgrades for software all the time). So go 9 for now. Life's too short and $29 is cheap

This guy asked, and never came back. *sigh* Anyway just wanted to say "stick in there" It's really hard coming in from scratch, and takes a while, but it's part of the fun, not to mention building your own sim with planes and scenery you love. Glad to have you on board if you ever decide to come back and thank us
