  1. Visited the Nimitz Then some light flight training on Brett's R44 And then Thomas came to visit....
  2. BK117 at the new LSEZ Zermatt scenery http://forums.x-plan...0#commentsStart It's a real challenge to hit that Hornyhut pad without falling off, and took me 2 tries. Wish the seating area was solid, then I could save em going out for firewood......
  3. lol
  4. The AirMethods livery N355AM is airframe 7135 and one which is on my to do list, but I'm stuck into a large project until early next year (non xp-related) so not something I can do right now. That KSP livery is not one I'd wish on anyone - it's easy enough to do on the BK until you get to the stripes on the bottom of the clam doors. Then it's into nightmare territory....
  5. Thanks Cameron, and Simon, for the support. Leen, I gather many xplaners are RL pilots too, so what happens in RL affects them too. Weeks after the event the UK newspapers and public are still shocked at the loss of one of our Red Arrows, especially that it's the first (and hopefully last) fatal incident in my generation who've grown up watching them. It just seemed they were cleared for flight before a proper investigation was completed. PR does come before safety here. It's been a terrible year for public flying events, and the least we can do for those souls who died while entertaining others is to remember them, whichever country they're from. So, sorry if this thread offended. n
  6. Right now, that MD902's on my wishlist.... http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=42948&st=90
  7. oh I dunno, most of her music's pretty palatable compared to the crap we have to endure in the uk - reality show nobodies and boybands. ugh. gimme CD any day over them....
  8. I know many people who speak in those acronyms when they've had too many of the guinness-thingies.....
  9. hey, no one's taking jibes! whatever gets it working. i would give the 206 another go, but i'm hanging on for the r22 (dep. on where sold), md902 and whatever xp10 comes with first.
  10. I fly the BK with control sliders as below. If you run it with full linear, it is very very twitchy. No lag whatsoever (unlike the 206). It's very direct. Far too direct. Haven't seen a BK pilot break a sweat trying to control it. In fact, if you google enough, you'll find most actually find the BK enjoyable to fly, and are sad to see it be replaced with something not-so-enjoyable. For control I use one of these, which gives much more control and finesse than a joystick does - you try holding a slight yaw with a twist grip for two hours! For those who don't recognise it, it's the same type of controller used for flying rc helicopters, just for pc's.

  12. On the subject of the Huey etc, anyone got any hopes for what comes with xp10? I'm curious about what Nils is making, because NVG and no oxygen mask mean it could be a helo, but the sides of that cabin don't look familiar. Would be nice if there's a new heli or two in xp10:
  13. I wasn't saying the 206 was accurate or inaccurate. All I said was it's not enjoyable to fly. The real thing may also not be enjoyable, for all I know. My initial point was that it's not easy, it's not enjoyable, and not ideal for a noob to learn on, especially when there are other helis available which are less of a struggle to control and are enjoyable to fly as a result. I wouldn't base an assumption about all BK117 flyers just because of a few videos. For all I know, they could've been shot by 16-year olds with 20 minutes experience....
  14. Personally, I would love to plonk Quentin Smith down in front of Fred's R44 and let him loose on it....
  15. Riiiiiight. So 20 minutes of hovering an R44 and suddenly you're qualified to claim Nils flight model is no good?? I would kinda expect someone to be about twice the age and have twice the experience before claiming that..... Thanks for the suggestions for making it more awake, but I didn't keep my 206 I also use an rc controller, which allows much finer adjustments and control than a joystick.
  16. I would love to have found the 206 to be "twitchy." Sadly, it came across as the exact opposite. SAS/ATT on the BK does actually make quite a difference when switched off. Nils has done more than just have a switch move.
  17. ...and you have flown a lot of real helicopters? How many hours have you got, and which ones?

  19. I dunno, but that's a cool shot.
  20. Hakunamatada - wasn't that summat to do with Lion King (my nephew sang it for years!). The shoutbox is almost a good source of humour in itself.....
  21. oo er, spot the noob....!! CHRISSS: does anyone know where i can get an airbus a380 with a full 3d cockpit and interior?? i dont care how much?? :/ karingka: peter hager. 3d cockpit available but no interior CHRISSS: ALSO in autogate does anyone no how to make any plane compatible with it i know only certain aircraft work with it but theres one plane that doesn't and i would like it to work brett s: That's something you need to start a thread for, please don't use the shoutbox for tech support. CHRISSS: oh would you shut up you dont own this do you fml brett s: Problem solved, you no longer have access to the shoutbox. Carlos Garcia: CHRISSS Thats not the way to treat people.... Thanks Brett .... Nice move. Brave man to take on the Brett. Crashed n burned, crashed n burned......
  22. Are you JH, caliber-svern, or VI these days? You are presuming a lot that everyone flies the BK with SAS turned on. I certainly don't. Who said the 206 was "unflyable"? "Response time is so slow. You've already made another adjustment when the first one actually happens... " Difficult, yes, not ideal for the beginner. Unflyable, no, but even bricks can be made to fly in some sims, don't u kno? There are certainly aircraft which are more pleasurable to fly, which don't leave you feeling like you've just had a fight with Mike Tyson. Also, I said "not a long wait for the r22, that looks just about ready." Emphasis being on the words "just about," ie almost.
  23. not a long wait for the r22, that looks just about ready. 4mins 47secs I got the BK round that course.
  24. Great, we found the one & only showoff who's "at one" with the 206
  25. Yeah, apparently that's "authentic" 206 behaviour. If you want a 206 just buy a field near a local aerodrome. One should drop in in no time.....
