Bell 206B Alan Mann G-TPTR Alan Mann Helicopters (Alan Mann Group) were one of the largest and most respected helicopter companies in the UK aviation industry in the 70s and 80s, based at EGTF Fairoaks and were the main concessionnaires for Agusta, Agusta-Bell and Bell helicopters. Primarily involved in helicopter sales and charter, they also branched out into film and TV work - their helicopters regularly appearing in major films (James Bond) and also as camera platforms. In 2007 Alan Mann Helicopters was sold off and ceased operations in 2011, ending an iconic era of UK aviation. Alan Mann died the following year. G-TPTR, represented here, was written off while filming at a motor industry facility in March 1989. Transitioning at 50ft AGL around a moving vehicle, it entered a vortex condition and landed heavily, rolling onto its side. The severely bent airframe was donated to the International Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset and remains there today. Alan Mann was very particular and if a helicopter wasn't spotless, then it didn't fly. In keeping with that ethos: * Damaged Com Radio 2 now replaced with undamaged item and no longer marked "deactivated." * Dirt and grime removed from paint and instruments. Other additions * Side windows re-profiled. * Removed landing gear step. Fitted correct mini steps. * Rivets toned down. * Brow windows now correct green/blue tint. * Tail rotor now correct colour. * Floor mats added to rear cabin * Instrument panel: - - - - Standard, but "as new" - - - - Warning Horn Switch text added - - - - Fuel Extender text added - - - - Radio Callsign G-TPTR label added -

Dear Mr Obama Do you remember those 72 AV-8B's we sold you for $180m? Not saying we sold you scrapheap museum-pieces, but this is what we do with ours... Remember, lots of maintenance. With (a lot of) luck you might spend more time flying them than repairing them. That's our Eurofighters sorted.

To open the doors, move your cursor to the left hand edge of the screen. A pop-out window will then appear, showing the door opening instructions. It's on page 12 of the Pilatus ReadMe manual, under "OPERATING TIPS AND CONTROL USAGE."

Just looked into that SimCopter. Sounds like a lot of fun! It's a shame it won't run on modern pcs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCopter lol at the "himbos" in it.

I used to have SAR 3 for the playstation. Can't remember too much about it other than it had a Hughes 500 in it and having to chase a train to rescue people off it, and hovering at various points to winch people off a sinking ferry, also a forest logging mission. The missions were quite varied and taxing. But it was a PS game, so you could use a ps controller. Where it was let down was in the controls being set as Mode 1, so you were disadvantaged if you were a Mode 2 flyer. Air Ranger 2 Rescue Helicopter was the other sim I had for the playstation. Numerous missions, from air ambulance locating car accidents in town and transporting to hospital, to winching vehicles off a bridge.

Hmm, you seem to ask how to do things legally, but aren't able to take on board that dubious practices don't always equal legal. Just because you don't feel the FAA could prove that $500 into your account on the same day is payment for flight, you'd better hope they could never access your company files then. Have you any idea how this comes across? "Mr Carozzi flew Photographer X on Monday, and the following day Mr Carozzi's account received $500." "In fact, every time Mr Carozzi flew Photographer X, $500 mysteriously appeared in Mr Carozzi's account the next day. Very convenient, that." See where I'm going? Imagine that's a jury, or someone within the FAA putting forward the case to his Director for reasons for your arrest. Just saying, your version of adhering to the rules seems to be along the lines of if you can bend them a little. Aaah. The royal "We." In other words, just you. I thought so.

If you honestly believe making a commmercial video for a commercial company that you own isn't commercial, then you have a lot to learn. It's not about money changing hands, it's about pecuniary gain that defines the act as being commercial. Real estate has sold perfectly well for decades without videos. Just saying the pecuniary gains of making a real estate video are far outweighed by the red tape you have to beat just to get off the ground. We've got less rules than you, and there isn't exactly a queue of people rushing into the take-videos-for-real-estate business. Probably because there's no more money in it than the real-estate-without-video business. Also "We"?? How many of you are doing this?

I think it's more about having a level of intelligence and responsibility than aeronautical knowledge. They're trying to weed out the type who thinks it's funny to stick a firework up a cat's backside, or whose favourite line is "watch this!" As an rc heli pilot of 7yrs, I've watched from across the pond how the FAA wasn't going to be happy until the rc hobby was gone. And that was really before quads came along. Then FPV arrived and suddenly idiots could fly beyond line of sight and wham, that got the FAA the excuse they needed and now you've got the rules you have. And that's just the beginning. I've also watched it with interest because - from the other end of the scale - the legislation really started here in the UK. It's £200 for a commercial licence (to film something), with something like 30 days notice, and there are so many conditions such as not within 50 metres/150ft of buildings, people, vessels etc. And you need to apply (and pay) for each incident. The cost is minimal compared to yours, but the rules are just as restrictive to the point where many would just say Why Bother? From the outlay you mentioned, is a real estate video really going to bring you enough income in to even cover its costs? Oh by the way, if the FAA follows the CAA route, "commercial" means use in the commission of a business. Strap a camera to your drone and take vids for your personal album, that's non-commercial. Use it to take videos that are clearly for (your) business's gain, then it's commercial. It'll be a miracle if the FAA see it any other way.

Just to add, I've just checked in Goodway and EAS is listed there as 391 too. Not saying Jeppesen is wrong, but maybe certain parts of xplane aren't as correct as they should be so maybe dedicated sources might show frequencies that's likely to tie-in with xplane, such as Local Map in xplane, or Goodway.

Can I butt in and just say I have encountered some NDBs on xplane that seem to be duds, ie you dial in the freq and nothing shows up. Coincidence, as I spent most of yesterday doing circuits/touch'n'goes around EGKK to acclimatise in the Challenger 300 and the Fairoaks (freq 348) and Rochester (freq 339) NDBs are exactly as this. I seem to find a few of these duds too often, so I tend to use VOR-DME's if i can as they're a bit more reliable in xplane. If it is that some NDBs seem to be problematic, have you tried any NDBs elsewhere? Also, not sure where you found EAS as freq 392 & 391.5? In Local Map it's 391. Haven't looked at Goodway yet, but will next time I'm on the sim.
