  1. For the last couple of days I've been doing repeated VNAV approaches with the AN-148. I absolutely love this plane, and it's a forgotten little 9.70 gem. Apparently it also works in xp10 too. I didn't like the lurid blue panel (yeah yeah, I know the Russians built it like that but I don't fly with sunglasses on indoors at night), and re-doing the interior's really made it now a pleasure to fly. Also dulled-down the lighting on the centre panels and arm panels so the main MFD looks a bit brighter. Livery is the X-Air one from the JAR website - http://an148xp.ucoz.ru/index/liveries/0-8
  2. Leave him to it. Let him chase after that HUGE big white rabbit with wings....
  3. Add "Erik Monning" to that list too. He's obssessed, I'll give him that.....
  4. I think that's six accounts now....... told you he wouldn't reach double figures with his posts. Meanwhile, I still haven't gotten round to flying this damn thing yet. But at least we do now have a less fluorescent panel....
  5. Finished fondling the AN cockpit. Now to fly it again....
  6. pm sent. If you've already gotten stuck in, these are the files you need to modify, else use the ones I've already sent you. An148_cockpit - main AN-148 folder chrono_HM - Heavy Metal/AN-148/cockpit/clocks RMI_NADF12_HM - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/nav displays/RMIs panel - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/-panels- horizon_glass_HM - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/standard six/artificial horizons VVI_6000_HM - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/standard six/vertical speed overheadpanel - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/objects bluevinil - Heavy/Metal/AN-148/objects
  7. Femke, if you want, I could try and pm you the modified files?
  8. First flight in xplane in ages. Modified the cockpit colours of the good old AN148. Always had to wear sunglasses to cope with the bright blue panels.....
  9. Ah, maybe I'm confused. I thought XPJ were the ones doing a 777 that people were waiting long and hard for, and it never appeared.
  10. Yes, it wouldn't be such a pain if I needed to upgrade for another reason other than xplane. But for xplane alone, that kind of money just isn't justified. And xp10 has too many shortcomings even now to rule it out - scenery lacking, downtown cucamunga buildings, cities missing or poorly represented. At the current rate, it'll probably be another five years before xplane's at the standard I can justify spending £2K on a pc for. I digress, the AS350 looks great and I hope it does well. We can never have too many helis in xplane.
  11. Didn't realise that had been released. I thought lots of people were waiting for that to come out, but XPJ went all quiet. How come you've got it?
  12. Sorry Kris, no I haven't got it. No plans to either. Several reasons: 1. It's xp10 only and I'm on 9.70 with no plans to upgrade for the foreseeable. About £2K to upgrade what I've got in order to run xp10. Not good value. :/ 2. It's only available at the org, where I'm banned. If I'm not good enough for the org, then neither is my hard-earned money. If it comes to x-aviation, then it might be an option. 3. I like doing liveries, but I find Fred's stuff virtually impossible to do any for. No liveries, that's half the fun gone. I'm sure it'll be great and all that, but no, it's not for me. Thanks for asking tho. PS. Just for anyone looking for the link to it, it's $35 and available here: http://store01.prostores.com/servlet/x-planestore/Detail?no=465
  13. Michael2's gazelle?
  14. What you want to there for? Isn't here good enough???
  15. No, he was definitely an Eric, or Patrick, depending on what hour it is.
  16. In case anyone else reads this thread later, for xp9 you don't need to know any of the airport frequencies. Just hit Enter, and a list of radio actions comes up. You just select whichever action you require. No need to go anywhere near the radios in the cockpit. By the same token, no yellow taxi line appears, so don't bother looking.
  17. He won't make double figures.....
  18. Great You should get figures like these:
  19. "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck." So stop quacking.
  20. Is this one better? Not really.
  21. Just to add to your initial question, if you want to find the freqs for an airport you intend to arrive at, at the preparation stage before you start your flight you must move your aircraft to either that airport, or one very close to it, by selecting Location/Select Global Airport. That way it appears in Location/Local Map and you can then zoom in on it and left click to get the red circle and the box with the freqs in it. Make a note of them, and then move your aircraft to the airport you intend to fly from, and begin your flight from that point onwards.
  22. In the words of Axel Foley - "I smell pork." *sniff*
  23. Don't know if it's the same for xp10, but for xp9 go into Location/Local Map and left click on the airport you're at. A large red circle should appear around it, and on the upper right corner a box opens with all the freqs for that airport in it. I believe it's the same way for xp10. http://www.x-plane.com/files/manuals/X-Plane_10_Desktop_manual.pdf Page 87 "Finding The Frequencies." Step by step guide (for xp10) taken from http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=55051&page=5 "1. Dial in ATIS frequency and get the weather, set your altimeter and know which runway is active. 2. Press ENTER and file a flight plan 3. Dial in Clearance Delivery frequency, press Enter and get your clearance (press enter and read it back) - if no clearance, contact Ground or Tower, in that order 4. Dial in Ground frequency - press Enter and get taxi instructions (there is no push back or engine start request at present, but I bet it will be added later) 5. Stay on Ground frequency until told to contact Tower Follow the yellow line that appears to the end of the yellow line (eg if you are crossing runways, the line will end at the runway crossing). You will then get permission to cross and the line will then appear to the next runway until you get to your departure runway). alway pull up tp the end of the yellow line, regardless of where the scenery tells you to stop. ATC doesn't know about scenery, it only knows about the yellow line. 6. Dial in tower frequency, press Enter and so on. - you get the picture - use the radios as you would in a real aircraft. find the frequencies on charts (the X-plane 10 local map has them)"
  24. Which version of xplane are you using?
  25. I'm sure in a few months he'll have matured a bit and be a bit less rabid.
