Definitely. Between you and me, I already have 64bit-compatible Mac and Linux builds for a while. Windows still needs a little work, though. Also the CRJ isn't based on vascore anymore since v1.4, making this a non-issue anyway. Philipp

Out-of-memory error. What you see is an OOM error condition actually caught, before crashing somewhere in the display driver. Of course, X-Plane still can't work any longer, but at least you know why. Lower texture resolution and try again.

The IRS can only be aligned when it's in stby mode. -If you loaded the aircraft cold&dark, you have to turn the IRS selectors to the NAV position before entering the coordinates -If you loaded the aircraft with engines running, the IRS is already aligned. To re-align it to a new position, turn the IRS selectors to the OFF position for at least ten seconds, then turn them back to NAV. Philipp

Neither the iMac (even the top model) nor the MacBook Pro are really good X-Plane machines, because they use notebook hardware, which means lower bus-bandwidth, lower GPU performance, more heat problems. They are designed to look slick and shiny, but not for sheer, raw power. On the other hand, half the price of a top-notch iMac buys you a really fast PC. For a guideline which components to choose, take a look here: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=46908 I personally use a Mac for everyday work, for programming, for photos, it's my workhorse, it's on like 16hrs every day. But, I have a dedicated PC for "gaming", which besides X-Plane includes AeroflyFS, Rise of Flight, DCS BlackShark... etc. It runs Windows 7 and occasionally Ubuntu Linux. So my advise would be to consider a dedicated X-Plane or gaming machine running Ubuntu, which actually borrows a lot of user interface elements from Mac OSX. It's of course not like the real thing, but it's less shocking to a Mac user than Windows 7, in my opinion. If you really can't stand having two machines, you either need a Mac Pro or a Hackintosh. Buying a MacPro RIGHT NOW is a bad idea, since the MacPro hasn't been updated for quite some time and still has old-generation Xeon CPUs. While HP, Fujitsu and Dell all have upgraded their top-workstations to E5-Xeons the MacPro still uses the previous generation ("Nehalem"). So either the MacPro is due for a major upgrade real soon now, or Apple will discontinue this product line entirely.

I have to object to what you call "full FMS". The actual capabilities of the FMS depend on what the customer (the airline) ordered. The Collins FMS4200 that is in the CRJ has NO authoritative VNAV. If it is there, it is ADVISORY only. Therefore, it is not uncommon for an airline to not order the feature at all. Here's what a real CRJ pilot said while we were developing the CRJ for X-Plane That means this pilot's airline has those PERF pages INOP, and this is in no way different from our simulation. I hope that clears things up: The FMS without ADVISORY VNAV is neither "worthless" nor "unrealistic" but a valid option that you may find in an early CRJ operated by an airline who chose not to buy the respective carrier options. FWIW, the default keyboard shortcut for "brake toggle maximum effort" is V, not B.

Javier and Ben enjoying the afternoon sun Me showing Austin and Ben how to parse terminal procedures. Javier knows that my quickly assembled program will crash any second, hence the disgruntled look on his face... Okay, this is my breakfast. But where is yours?? Hmm, this sounds like a stupid idea to me ... and then I'm going to crash the ATI GPUs like THAT! Aerosoft guys in 16°C "warm" water Serious business at the poolside Time to leave, unfortunately. Austin and me discussing the texturing of Mallorca airport. Or somehting else. Don't remember. Back home, arriving EDDF on the newly built runway 25R, which is in operation since just a few months

Day2: Javier and me showing the Aerosoft guys how to make planes ... and then you bake it together. Like this! See? I hope they remember all we said All of us eagerly awaiting the big collection of Spanish Tapas for lunch Ben Supnik explaining somehting (can't remember) Javier probably encouraging someone to taste some strange-looking fish The Aerosoft choir with its conductor Winfried Diekmann, assembling for the rehearsal of Mahler's..., no wait, I think he just tells us to stand together for the photograph Cheese!

I received the latest batch of photos from Marcel Felde, developer of the Aerosoft Katana 4X and Dornier Do-27, and the man with the longest lens I've ever seen, he owns more cameras than I took pictures... Approaching LEPM airport, seeing the island in the morning sun Chatting with the captain after landing, trying to get some paperwork. View from a hotel room Getting an overview of the island Help me! I'm an X-Plane developer and I'm stuck posing for a stupid photo !!!1! No one is going to work here until we had our coffee and snacks! How did I get here and who are you guys? And why do I have German words on my forehead? Austin flying AeroflyFS on my notebook A small sample of the desserts offered after dinner. If my girlfriend knew how much I ate there... Marcel and Javier looking skeptical watching videos of Austin's latest experiments in melting incredibly expensive PT-6 engines even faster... Or launching rockets... Anyway, something dangerous for sure!

How to enter a new fix in FMS in LAT/LON
philipp replied to leonid.kogan's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
All LAT/LON pairs defined by the NAT or PACOTS are in the database. Those not defined cannot be entered, unless you put them in the Waypoints.txt file, which is easier than the solution suggested with the xml file: 6240N|62000000|-40000000| defines the NAT point 62N 40W. Although I hope you're not trying a Pacifc Crossing with a Regional Jet ... -
I'm glad your flying skills are better than your driving skills

Quoting John Deakin from avweb.com, 65.000hr pilot and vintage/radial engine specialist: (from http://www.avweb.com...n/182084-1.html, emphasis mine). You can of course try retrofitting the DC-3 with my modern engine monitor, though it shows only 6 cylinders: http://forums.x-plan...&showfile=12206 It also does kind-of the auto-rich and auto-lean functionality.

Thanks for the flightplan dumps, I will take a look at them when I have the time. But one question: Does the error persist AFTER you selected a departure runway? Because I'm quite sure that as soon as the first waypoint (the center of the airport) has been sequenced and the second (the threshold of the departure runway at the airport) is active, the calculation MUST be correct. Can you confirm this?

Just ignore them. I don't need them, because I get the procedures from the LevelD_Proc folder. So whether the SID STAR folders are there or not, we don't care. The reason they are in the Navigraph download is so that Navigraph can use the same file format for vasFMC as for the CRJ, and they don't have to make yet another download package for it. vasFMC probably needs some of those files. We don't.

Put back the openAL so the plugin loads (crashes). Then open a terminal and navigate (cd) to the folder CRJ-200/plugins/CRJAvionics Run the command ldd lin.xpl and post the output here. Philipp

Hi folks, looking back on a year that has been a tremendous success for the CRJ-200 team we now feel that it can't get any better. Having designed one of the best planes for X-Plane, we now feel that we should be embracing other platforms as well, and bring the level of quality you all love to them. Therefore, we decided to discontinue development of the CRJ-200 for X-Plane and port our aircraft to Microsoft Flight. Microsoft Flight is an emerging simulator which has seen a tremendous growth in user base during the last month. We all know the platform is lacking high-quality aircraft. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for developers like us. Also, Microsoft Flight has a number of advantages over X-Plane that make aircraft development a lot simpler for us. For example, as Microsoft Flight is only for Windows, we don't need to develop and test for multiple platforms, which cuts our development times in half. Also, Microsoft Flight is much better for us because it only has limited scenery. That means we don't need a world-wide navigation database and we don't care for the correct approach procedures in Timbuktu any longer. The missing global scenery also allows us to ignore those pesky details of 64bit compatibility, because with the Hawai scenery, Flight will never run out of memory in 32bit. And finally, Microsoft Flight has much friendlier users than X-Plane. For Microsoft Flight users we don't need to implement complex functions like an FMS, because they don't even know such things exist. So they will never whine about functions that don't work like in the real plane. As you can see, going to Microsoft Flight is a big step in the right direction for developers. We tried to resist the temptation for a long time, but now we feel X-Plane is not going to cut it anymore. Seriously, compare this scenery http://download.aila.../mflight/10.jpg to this http://www.x-plane.c...20FA-22A_55.jpg !!! So we say "thank you" to all X-Plane pilots who supported the development of the CRJ-200 for X-Plane. We hope to see you in the skies over Hawai in Microsoft Flight. Cheers, Philipp

This looks more like an out-of-memory condition of X-Plane than a problem of our plugin. At least, I can't find a single symbol in the crash backtrace that is from our plugin. Can you try with lower texture resolution? Philipp

Hi Rafa, in your email you said you did install a different libfontconfig.so I don't know where you got it from or where you installed it. In any case, I attached the original libfontconfig that ships with the CRJ. Put it in place in CRJ-200/plugins/CRJAvionics/liblinux The Linux version of the CRJ is tested with the two most popular representatives of the package architecture, Suse for the RPM-world, and Ubuntu for the deb-world. The supplied libs in liblinux have been hand-picked to make sure they run in both the Debian and the Redhat/Suse world. Randomly exchanging some of the libs, like the libfontconfig, will lead to unpredictable results. Philipp libfontconfig.so.1.zip

Progressive pitch oscillations in cruise with AP on
philipp replied to alexcolka's topic in Canadair CRJ-200
We will need to test this with our standard test flight to see if it doesn't cause any side-effects for us. But if it is fine, we can certainly include it in the future. Philipp -
