Hello Chris Thanks for confirming this for me. Regards Simon
-
Hi Cameron Many thanks for confirming this for me. The person asking me is using 10.05r1 so could this be the reason he cannot load my scenery file for EGSC? First off he is getting an 'Error loading EGSC - This scenery may not look right' Then he gets a 'Could not locate facade/forest/beach' 'lib/airport/Common_Elements/Hangars/Blue_Hangar.fac' Would updating to the latest beta be the solution, I am not sure when the new art assets were updated? Many thanks and regards Simon

I have uploaded a couple of scenery files both here and at the org(EGKB & EGSC), and I am on a windows PC, will the files work on a Mac platform? I have been asked the question by a Mac user over at the Org and wondered if anybody was able to help me give an answer, and what I should do to make it work for users on other platforms? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Regards Simon

File Name: EGSC - Cambridge File Submitter: sichars1968 File Submitted: 20 Aug 2012 File Category: DSF Scenery Packages X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10 This is EGSC - Cambridge Airport to the north-east of London, near to Stansted, created with the XP10 Lego bricks. It is a an airport with a small passenger terminal, and can handle passenger flights with aircraft of the size of Airbus A321/Boeing 757. It can accommodate hangarage for aircraft to the size of B747. There is a modern FBO for corporate customers and an abundant GA presence. I have concentrated on the airport itself to start, and will try to add more clutter and improve surrounding scenery as time/other projects allow. Click here to download this file

File Name: EGKB - Biggin Hill File Submitter: sichars1968 File Submitted: 08 Aug 2012 File Category: DSF Scenery Packages X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 10 EGKB - Biggin Hill, Kent, England This is a representation of Biggin Hill airport in Kent, England. Originally a key aerodrome for Fighter Squadrons in the Second World War, Biggin Hill is now a corporate/GA airfield. It's close proximity to the city of London makes it an excellent arrival point for business people wanting to avoid the larger airports and the associated lengthy Customs clearance and commute into the City of London. There are a number of FBO's at the airport, as well as abundant GA activity. This is my first attempt at an airport using the X-Plane 10 Lego brick sytem in WED 1.2b. Any constructive comments/critcism and advice is welcome. Requires OpenSceneryX Click here to download this file

Thanks Chris, trying to do the upload now. Simon

Hello All I would like some guidance regarding the uploading of files. I have completed my first Lego brick airport for XP10 and would like some help in the upload procedure. I am on Windows, do I need to make the file available on all operating platforms and if so how do I do this? Do I need to create a .zip file to upload, and how do I do it? I apologise if these questions seem rather simplistic, but I have not uploaded files for others to share before, and I am keen to share my work and help the community populate the X-Plane world. Regards Simon

X-Pilot Announces Download File Library!
sichars1968 replied to X-Pilot's topic in General Discussion
Hello All I think this is absolutely great that you have created a download library on X-Pilot. It is a real pleasure to post and have dialogue with the other members on this forum. The payware add-ons on X-Aviation are exceptionally good and to me set the bar for X-Plane payware. The people on this site are always courteous and professional and you know that if you have a question, no matter how trivial, you won't be treated like on another ORGanisation. I am presently working on a couple of airports using the new Lego brick WED1.2b, one in the US and one in the UK, and when I am happy with them I will gladly share these with the other members on here. Regards Simon -
Tom I haven't used WED enough yet to have noticed the height of facade if input by the user will select the nearest to it. From your explanation I can fully understand why this is the way it is. Once again thanks for taking the time to explain this. Regards Simon

Hi Bill and XPA I haven't actually used the hangar facades, but why don't you just change the height of the hangars when you place them in WED. I have done this with the terminal facades and it works well. Regards Simon

Can't export scenery pack in WED1.2b
sichars1968 replied to sichars1968's topic in Scenery Development
Thanks for the replies guys. I went back in and took the curves off of the terminal walls I was trying to do and all is well and it exported and has done since, so that is obviously a Windows thing. I will file a bug report later(no rush as it's not high priority). When I tried to make the walls curve, the normal red line around the perimeter of the facade shape changed to dashed around the curved section, which made me think it was this it didn't like. Anyway, many thanks to both of you for helping me and giving me the links etc. Regards Simon -
Hi All Just wondering if anyone is able to help me out? I am continuing with my scenery project in WED1.2b and suddenly I don't seem able to export the scenery package to XPX. I am working on KGEG - Spokane, and I have just been doing the facades for the terminals. One thing I have done since I was last able to export was made part of the facade wall round using bezier curves, am I able to do this with walls? The program just closes with the Windows trying to find a solution box. Also is there a place to report bugs for the WED 1.2b? Hope somebody can point me in the right direction? Regards Simon

Thanks for that Chris. Simon

Hello All I am trying to gain experience in using WED1.2 and have a question regarding the ILS ariels. I am trying to improve KGEG-Spokane WA at the moment, and the default airport in XPX hasn't got the new runway extension so I have changed this and drawn the associated taxiway changes etc. I have exported the scenery to XP, and started it up to see my changes in the program. Everything appears correct as per my changes so far except the ILS glideslope and centerline ariels at the runway 03 end. How can I change the position of these as nothing shows up in WED? Regards Simon

Hi Tom Now X-Plane 10 is so much more stable I have been doing a lot of flying in various third party aircraft of late, and I appreciate that these aircraft all need updating to version 10, but I must say the MU-2 never disappoints. I have been into flight simming since ATP all through MSFS platforms and laterly X-Plane, and this aircraft is simply head and shoulders above any add-on aircraft I have flown before, and there is plenty of competition(LES products for X-Plane and RealAir for FSX). I think X-Plane 10 really has the potential to become 'the' simulator of choice, and this is bourne out by the excellent aircraft that are in developement now. I still feel that these new creations will have to go some to beat the MU-2. To this end I would just say that this new update, although eagerly awaited, people should really cut you some slack and realise that this is firstly, a free update, and at the end of the day you want to release something that as the developer you know is absolutely the best you can do. We the customers are in a win-win situation as far as I am concerned. I think it is excellent the way you take the time to keep us informed of the progress you are making, you would never get this from MSFS developers. Keep up the good work and I look forward to flying the new version whenever it should be released. All the best Simon

Hi Rolando Although I have since upgraded, when I first had XP10 I had a Core2Duo @ 3.3Ghz with the 9800GT and I got pretty decent performance, so long as I was sensible with the settings. This was obviously before the latest optimisations, so if you download the latest Beta I think you will get more than acceptable performance. Regards Simon

Hi Chris This is looking very good. I downloaded all 3 Christchurch packages earlier in the week and I think you have done an outstanding job of these. Keep up the good work, my X-Plane world on 'the other-side of the world' is starting to look 'very plausible'. Cheers Simon

Rudder problem with latest beta 10.04
sichars1968 replied to sichars1968's topic in General Discussion
Hi All Whilst I have been browsing the forums of late I have seen many people describing the issue of tyres smoking or locked as if brakes are on during takeoff and continually veering left or right, I believe this may be a result of the issue I describe in the initial post. After the release of 10.04 Beta 7, I still see this problem. I have sent a bug report to LR. I have overcome it for now by not using the nosewheel toggle and reducing the amount the nosewheel turns in planemaker for the aircraft I fly, this has stopped the incessant skid noise of the nosewheel turning too much at speed. Still interested to know if this is occuring to other simmers? Simon -

Hi Chris I always run with Texture Resolution set at 'very high', would you advise texture compression at this setting when using these files or only for those that run at 'extreme'? Very nice looking screenshots. Cheers Simon -
Hi Chris I never thought of backing up like that before, thanks for the heads-up. As you say the new beta 10.04 Beta 6 is really starting to impress me, the simulation is very fluid with settings high. I haven't tried it with HDR yet, I must say I'm not convinced HDR looks quite right at night, the airport floodlighting looks great but the city and road lighting imo doesn't look right, especially the light on the building facades. I seem to have very bad anti-aliasing with HDR on the FXAA setting. Your Christchurch airport scenery looks brilliant with HDR Chris. How is the Wellington scenery progressing? Keep up the good work. Cheers Simon

Hi Simmo I assume he means having a back-up installation of X-Plane so you can upgrade one and see what the changes are, and then decide if you like what you see. I have the demo on an external drive and always update this first and run it, if all seems well I update my main installation on the internal HD. Cheers Simon
