  1. Hi John - I noticed this too. Glad it's on your radar - and I realize you'd be playing in a different drawing phase to get cockpit shadowing implemented. It is just a bit odd to be taxiing around a cloud shadowed airport with my aircraft seeming to be in direct sunlight. As a dev myself, I know that the list of things to do never seems to get shorter! Thanks for all your efforts. Steve
  2. I do see some elements of the clouds, particularly towards the top of the cloud, that are screaming "billboard" to me. Very detectable. The backside of clouds in shadow still have that solid smokey appearance that has plagued clouds of any sort in XP10 from the beginning. That's going to be a hard thing to overcome, I think. I do think this is an incredibly lovely system, nonetheless. Just offering up my own small contribution to the cause....trying to be constructive.
  3. Free, no. But users who bought 1.0 hoping they would make good on adding clouds should be entitled to an upgrade rate, even if only for a limited time. This isn't an inexpensive little $10 app that we paid for less than a year ago. Early adoption is deserving of consideration, since that level of interest is what validated continued development.
  4. That's a completely fair question. I can't speak directly to the technical details, but clearly there's more than one way to skin a cat. (Apologies to cat persons... ) The technologies that Ben Supnik chose for X-Plane 10 likely places priorities for scenery rendering differently from what the FSX team chose. Perhaps the advantages he and Austin were seeking will become more apparent later in the X-Plane 10 run. Version 10.30 is still pretty young for the latest X-Plane installment.
  5. This *was* a challenge, Jim. They picked the players last summer. I was working on one that didn't win, unfortunately, despite very good prospects. A lot of work goes into these submissions....it's not just about a cool concept that may or may not have flown in X-Plane.
  6. Confirmed for 10.30, but one will need a 64 bit machine and sufficient memory to get the real benefit of the additional DSF's. Ben's blog also suggests that the resolution of the whole earth model will eventually be increased too. This probably won't be Terragen or Outerra, but it will be wonderfully better than what we deal with above about 15k at present.
  7. I saw that too, Julien. If only I'd waited a week instead of jumping on the bandwagon so fast! I got an update email today too..... SkyMaxx Pro 1.1 has been released with assertions of better performance and other tweakage. Time to get back in the cockpit!
