  1. Those big glass windows would be a perfect opportunity to do some interior modeling and open them up.
  2. Thanks for the heads up Cameron. For those of us running newer versions of OSX (and therefore new versions of Safari), the new way to clear your cache is Safari>Reset Safari>Clear History. If you don't want to lose your browser history when you reset, go to Safari>Preferences>Advanced and turn on the developer menu. Then go to Develop>Empty Caches. Something I discovered in the new forum software: if you want to split a post you have quoted into two quoted posts, put your cursor where you want to split and hit return twice. Much easier!

    FLL Works!

"q" and "e" keys to rotate, I believe. That and other great info should be in the help file.

I agree Chris. I haven't used WED since the ability to edit the DSF was added, but I always found Overlay Editor to be extremely intuitive and easy to use.

    Or overlay editor.
  6. Exactly. I've used WinterWorld for a long time, but just wondered if there was a little plugin or something that I had missed to enable this auto turn-on feature.
  7. Could you explain this? I never saw this in any version of X-Plane 8 or 9 I used.
  8. Just following the example set by a few seemingly respected members of this community. If things are changing, that's wonderful and I'm very much looking forward to it. On the 787 page: Un-capitialize "Resolutionary" Capitalize the p in "X-plane" Try "The 787 is also equipped with" Un-capitalize "Pushback" Capitalize "over" Don't put the download thing in all caps Capitalize "the 787" Capitalize "there" On the 767 page: Capitalize "boeing" No period after sounds On the About Us page: Remove any reference to the past, shutting down, etc. If you don't want people to hound you for it than you need to forget about it. Out of sight, maybe out of mind one day. Change to "two new people" Un-capitalize "While"
  9. Learning to put a period at the end of a sentence is a fairly basic English skill...
  10. Nice design, but several grammar/punctuation issues and the continual mentioning of Michael's checkered past need fixing.
  11. Watched the ANA 787 take off from KSEA yesterday. Beautiful machine, and very quiet too.
  12. I think it should also be noted that the -F designates a plane that was built at Boeing as a freighter, while the -BCF aircraft are former passenger planes that have been converted to freighter use by Boeing (Boeing Converted Freighter) or by Bedek (Bedek Special Freighter), which have the -BDSF tag-on.
  13. What aircraft(s) are you seeing this with? Do you have all of the failures turned off? Weather set to non-freezing conditions? Will the autopilot still control the plane?
  14. From what I've read the plane is just sitting there rotting away, so it wouldn't surprise me if they've been removed. Edit: 3-view:
  15. I started this flight, TXKF-KLGA, knowing full well what I might encounter when I was ready to land... let's just say it was quite a battle! The landing actually ended up better than I was expecting while on approach. Came close to running off the side of the runway but didn't. Enjoy!
  16. Did you look at the images that I linked to in my previous post? Both of those show that the Albatross had a cockpit windshield in front of the props.
  17. Thanks Larry, you got me on the right track... looks like it's N8497J, a 1953 Grumman Albatross. http://www.myaviation.net/search/search.php?view=&regnr=N8497J http://www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1198332/ http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/N8497J.html
  18. Twotters have a rectangular horizontal stabilizer, so its not that. Was thinking a Shorts or a Dornier but it looks too short to be either of those. Edit: thought you said you thought it was a Twotter, I see you said Goose haha. Looking at some 3-views it certainly looks like it could be. Edit again: Google's imagery makes it a little easier. File Name: Bombardier Q500 Concept File Submitter: Kaphias File Submitted: 24 Oct 2012 File Category: Heavy Metal X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 9 Bombardier Q500- By Kaphias for the 2011 X-Plane.org Next Gen Turboprop Competition This aircraft is a derivative of my SkyFerry. The Q500 concept is a stable, easy to fly canard design, with plenty of power to get in and out of short strips. It seats 72 passengers. Below is the "read me" file, which is also included with the download. -------------------------------------------------------------- Engine start procedure: On the right side of the panel, turn on the battery, avionics, and both generators, then the igniter and fuel switches for each engine. Press and hold each start button for five seconds until startup, then turn on the Inverter as well. Takeoff procedure: Lower flaps one or two notches depending on runway length. Throttle engines to full power, rotate at 130-155kts depending on weight. Retract gear, raise flaps as needed. Climb at 230kts and 1500-2000fpm. In an engine-out situation: Increase speed to stabilize aircraft, retract flaps, return to airport. Landing procedure: Slow to 120-140kts depending on weight, deploy flaps to full as needed. Trim up or pull back on the stick to keep the nose up. Always keep some power to the engines, if you close the throttles the plane will drop. Flare, close throttles for touchdown, speedbreaks up, engage full reverse thrust, add brakes as needed. Disengage reversers, close speedbreaks, taxi off runway. This aircraft uses two Europrop TP400-D6 engines, the same engines used on the upcoming Airbus A400M. Data sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europrop_TP400 http://www.mtu.de/en/products_services/military_business/programs/tp400_d6/index.html http://www.rolls-royce.com/defence/products/transporters/tp_400_d6.jsp The airfoils are from the Car Ferry competition package. The Q500 seats 72 people in a 2x2 configuration. This makes for 18 rows. I have spaced the rows 40 inches apart, which is just above the average for many of todays airlines. Bags are placed in the rear of the plane. Six 2x6 bag "weapons" were used to represent the size and weight of 72 bags. -------------------------------------------------------------- Enjoy! File Name: SkyFerry File Submitter: Kaphias File Submitted: 24 Oct 2012 File Category: Heavy Metal X-Plane Version(s): X-Plane 9 SkyFerry- By Kaphias for the 2010 X-Plane Car Ferry Competition This aircraft tied for 2nd place in the Car Ferry competition. Put simply, it's very easy to fly. It has very docile handling characteristics and can carry an absurd amount of weight. Below is the "read me" file, which is included in the download: -------------------------------------------------------------- This aircraft uses two Europrop TP400-D6 engines, the same engines used on the upcoming Airbus A400M. Throttle engines to full power, rotate at 115-135kts depending on weight. Retract gear, raise flaps as needed. Climb at no more than 1000 fpm. There is a maximum takeoff weight of 100,000 pounds, though the aircraft will fly at up to 200,000 pounds. Just don't expect to survive an engine-out, or any other situation, hence the 100,000 pound limit. NOTE: This aircraft is unpressurized. Do not climb above 10,000 feet. In a engine-out situation: Use generous amounts of rudder, pray. Landing procedure: Slow to 110-125kts depending on weight, deploy flaps to full as needed. Always keep some power to the engines, if you close the throttles the plane will drop. Flare, close throttles for touchdown, engage full reverse thrust, add brakes as needed. Disengage reversers, taxi off runway. To remove cargo (cars): Extend speedbrakes to open door, imagine cars rolling off the plane. Receive large payment from customer. 23. From reading this topic, it seems that the purpose of that setting is to help the sync on CRT screens, not slow down the sim itself. Besides that, it doesn't seems to have any effect on my computer, which is backed up by other reports of the setting doing nothing on LCD screens.
  24. So I'm sitting here doing a flight MHTG-KMIA out over the gulf, with little to no land in sight. X-Plane is showing 370fps. Activity monitor is showing 95% CPU usage, and I know my GPU is getting run up as well because of the temps and the way my MacBook Pro sounds like it's about to lift off and fly away from my desk. Doing a little bit of research it seems that this behavior is typical for X-Plane: it likes to run your hardware 100% at all times, even if it clearly doesn't need to. I've heard stories about MBPs going kaput from constantly running hot. Is there any way I can limit how much of my computer's resources X-Plane uses? Because frankly I don't need 370fps for the 2 hours I'm over the ocean with X-Plane hidden. Or for the 18 hour KEWR-WSSS flight I'm looking at.
  25. Would it work on a MSFS demo?
