mb339 i use some of the custom sky colors that they post on x.plane.org, I find the default bitmaps a bit too yellow/orange around sunset/sunrise, though I did shop the last batch a little. These are the colours I use: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=18494 Few more:
I think anyone who has flown over the 3D city scenery in Google Earth on a high-end machine can't help but be impressed at the possibilities for sceneries, it's jaw droopingly realistic looking and it's good on frame rates. I mean it just blows P3D, XP, all of them out of the water. Exporting that into XP is the holy grail of scenery dev IMO.
Thanks! My RTH settings are in the last pic, I have SMP off in all the below shots, but I keep it SMP default in terms of colours. One thing I recommend is changing the sky bitmaps, that helps a lot I think, and of course you need all the goodies switched on in your display settings.
Outerra is quite impressive in areas, it's got great clouds and a fantastic haze system etc. There's a lot of potential there but getting from Alpha's to a finished product is where a lot of developers lose steam. Being a Mac user I wish they'd make an OS X version. Still, very cool.
Well I guess that's a compliment for the SimHeaven stuff, but FlyTampa has a tonne of buildings, so it's hard to beat that. Some different views, I use the free Dubai airport on .org and basically whatever free stuff anyone makes, I'd buy something commercial if someone released something for XP.
Thanks! From memory it's Simheaven's photo scenery of Dubai but don't think they support it anymore. It's certainly nowhere near as good as FlyTampa but I can't be bothered converting stuff. With a few landmark's that you can get on x-plane.org it makes for a passable Dubai.
