  1. Please stop asking about asking or I shall have to ask you to ask why you are asking about asking. Clear? heh. Do try flying in the Pacific Northwest regions of the USA and Canada, it's gorgeous. I had never gone to Montana in X-Plane before the first UHD was released. It's a good incentive to explore
  2. Thanks Chris, without you this would never have been possible, your help over the years made me capable of doing anything of this sort. And your patience, for sure.
  3. Finally got SkyMAXX and the new UHD for Canada. Wow. I cancelled my date for tonight, quit my job, dropped out of university, and emptied my bank account. X-Plane is life.
  4. Lanai will be uploaded on Thursday.

  5. Hello everyone! Some updates: Lanai will be released without forests or custom city object layout. It just wasn't looking very good.Molokai will hopefully be released with forests and city object layout.I've gotten my hands on hi-res TIFF format elevation data so I'm going to stick it in Mesh Tool and see what happens, but not for Lanai. I'm sick of this island. Just kidding, I love the place, but I made too many mistakes that would take forever to correct early on that have been mickey-moused into working over the months, so the new mesh wouldn't even line up with it.Lanai will be uploaded next Thursday. This will possibly be the last Hawaii Photoreal to be uploaded first to X-Pilot.
  6. UHD British Columbia is one of the greatest things to happen to me since starting with X-Plane in 2008. Thank you so much for your work. you are a saint.
  7. Sticking with my tradition of flying in X-Plane everywhere that I go in real life, I had to fly over Clearwater Lake in Wells Gray Provincial Park. Went on my first overnighter kayak this weekend with my girlfriend. The weather in X-Plane was set a LOT better than how it actually was - real life was more "raging thunder storms and extremely northerly wind" but I'd rather fly in nice weather.
  8. What did I fly today? Nothin much, just an MD87. Sorry, couldn't help it. Taken at Mesa Airport in May. I look incredibly dorky in this shot because it was the first time I had been in a functional jet cockpit since I was about five and I was happier than ever. But in other news, in the X-Plane world: In other news, I went around East of Anchorage near Whittier and went over Nome in a nice short flight.
  9. Unless it's something like grass, which I have engineered to disappear at the point where it looks perfect to disappear and would look bad to continue existing (mostly anti-aliasing and alpha-blending issues)
  10. From the Web page specified, see second paragraph.LOD <max lod> This defines the farthest distance the trees can be seen. Lower values cause forests to disappear faster but result in faster frame rate. [X-PLANE 9] In X-Plane 9, the LOD command is ignored; X-Plane calculates the viewing distances for all forests based on user settings. X-Plane will attempt to draw the forest for as long of a distance as possible, with a density approaching what is specified in the scenery file.
  11. YES! I'm still alive. YES! I'm aware that half the outsourced image URL's to my ghost-tumblr account are dead because Tumblr is a jerk like that. YES! Lanai is still being developed. My job is insanely hectic and disorganized. However, I am finding time here and there to get more done with Hawaii Photoreal, and my partner is messing around with Mesh Tool. Just learned how on earth forest files worked today, and I'm seriously disappointed by two things: 1. LOD does not exist. This means that I can't make forests that add detail to orthos at close range but leave the beauty of orthophotos to do their job at a greater distance - pretty big deal on the islands of Hawaii. 2. Every forest looks like a plantation. All trees, no matter how insanely huge your random number is (anyone who does forest files knows what that means), appear in columns across the landscape.
  12. Got into the Stinson to screw around in Sedona and the Grand Canyon, since I'm heading there in two weeks. Finally got the new UHD... WOW. I also got my tablet hooked up as ASI and altimeter, I have two old joysticks on standby for when I'm at my dad's place for the workshop to build a nice cockpit panel. Suggestions for the mist important switches and whatnot? And I seriously screwed around when I decided to buzz the Colorado as long and low as possible.
  13. ... to quote that infamous song for my purpose. And I got a perfect Extreme 3D PRO for $6.00CAD. I'd say that is a good price. Tested it out, works beautifully - great replacement for my faulty X-52 and my busted (no axes working anymore) Extreme 3D PRO. And I also bought a beautiful and completely perfect typewriter but that has no relation to anything to do with X-Plane.

    Passed out

"Boing 777" boing boing boing Okay on a serious level, I would recommend that if that happens again in the future go into setting and disable hypoxia. This (as far as I know) will stop the screen from going black. You can then descend, solve the issue, and reenable hypoxia (very realistic... not). Or you could hope for the best and boing boing boing down onto the ground.
  15. Hi all who care in any way about flying around in beautiful Hawaii! Yes, it's still happening... but slowly. I have had lots on my plate but I now have a while to work tirelessly on it. My girlfriend has to finish an essay that should take her no more than a week and a half, so I'm hoping to make some serious progress on Molokai and finish and release Lanai (possibly elsewhere). Thanks to everyone who has donated and I can't wait to get this release - it's actually looking pretty cool!
  16. My solution is send it to someone who has a working copy of sketchup it's always good to have partners in crime
  17. Yes, I fixed it - a component issue that I wasn't aware of. I have a new problem, thought, and I can't solve it the way it's asking me to. I have restarted skp multiple times, still giving me this message:
  18. Causing the deck of the bridge to be off by hundreds of feet and 100 degrees?
  19. I have hit a serious road block. Calling all SketchUp obessees. What am I doing wrong? I know textures are messed up - I'm not done, I am doing a half-way point test to put it in the right place, but this happened. Maybe. My next priority is the Alex Fraser Bridge since it's good for flying into YVR.
  20. Also working on a lit Lions Gate Bridge for those who miss the feelings of Vancouver at night. Texturing is a difficult process on this one.
  21. I'm binge-exporting BC Airfields/Heliports to the gateway. So far I have rebuilt CYNJ, CYXS, CZML, CAB5, CYHE, and CAU4. On the platter now is CYPZ, burns lake, which needed serious help. Every once in a while I take some time to gloriously fly around at sunset.
  22. Okay, thanks to whoever did the little tiny update to YXX for the gateway, that made me happy. People care about Canada. Yay. However, I realized that something substantial was still missing: the main taxiway that runs parallel to the main runway. So, I decided to modify it. I have no completely rebuilt the entire airport from the ground up, and along with the gateway version, I will be uploading an orthophoto underlay to go along with it.
  23. Andy, you rooc. Rocky. Bad pun. It didn't work. But thanks!
  24. http://www.kelowna.ca/CM/Page4216.aspx If anyone knows how to use ECW format imagery, Kelowna International Airport is a pretty major centre for flight in southern British Columbia. If anyone is interested, there you go.
